Beauty Mythbuster: Is Hairspray REALLY the Secret to Speedy Nail Polish Drying?
The claim: that hairspray can actually speed up the drying process when you have freshly painted nails. Say whaaaa?! As someone who feels naked without a manicure, this Beauty Mythbuster left me super curious — and super hopeful — about whether it would work or not. If it did? TOTAL GAME CHANGER. All you need is to paint your nails and grab a bottle of aerosol hairspray, and you’re set.
This hack is as simple as it gets: Just paint your nails with two coats of your favorite polish (don’t use gel nail polish). Wait about one minute to let the polish set a bit. Then, about 8 —10 inches away from your nails, spray the aerosol hairspray over each nail. Make sure you don’t get too close or else this could cause little air bubbles to deposit on your nails.
Let them dry for another minute or two, and follow up by washing your hands with soap to remove the sticky hairspray that’s left over. Your nails are straight up DRY. Boom.
WOULD WE TRY THIS IRL?
Yes! This is a great beauty hack to turn to when you’re in a rush and can’t leave the house with totally wet nails. While it doesn’t dry them 100%, it absolutely speeds up the process, which is priceless when you’re trying to avoid those inevitable nail polish knicks — who has time for those?!
