First things first, tell us a little bit about yourself and your company’s mission?
I live in Los Angeles and am basically obsessed with pretty things! Whether it’s a pretty product, or a pretty home, or pretty packaging on a can of pasta – I’m in. However, most pretty things require a lot of money, so my goal is to be able to make beautiful things by hand and feel way better about it.
Why did you decide to start Almost Makes Perfect?
Almost Makes Perfect was created not only to improve my own crafting skills, but to hopefully inspire others that you don’t have to be that technically skilled in order to make beautiful things.
When did you first realize you love to make? When did you realize you could do this full-time?
I’ve been doing art and crafting since I was little. I remember taking an art class where we would make clay necklaces, paper mache and paint furniture and trinket boxes. I then went to an arts high school and art college where I majored in digital media. I’ve always been into design and making things and I don’t think i’ll ever stop.
What’s one piece of advice you’d share with other makers?
Don’t take yourself too seriously! Creating things is fun. Forgive and laugh at yourself when you mess up, and it will stay fun.
What other creative hobbies do you have?
When I’m not blogging, I work freelance as a graphic designer and a TV editor. I also love interior design and baking.
The holidays are… rad. I love being with my family all together, and kind of focusing more on our relationships than we do the rest of the year.
