There’s a Job Opening at Buckingham Palace
Before you start digging up your tiara, the open position in England’s poshest palace is not a bride for Prince Harry. But if you want to rub shoulders with the Royal Family, there is a vacant job that might allow you to do just that. The Royal Household career page recently posted an opening for a permanent live-in housekeeping assistant at the palace.
The Queen requests that you’re a team player and says housekeeping or hospitality experience is preferred but not required. The listing states, “This is no standard housekeeping role. You’ll work, and live, in stunning historic settings, ensuring that they’re presented to their best for colleagues, guests and, of course, the Royal Family.” You’ll also help work private parties, extravagant galas and international dinners.
While you will get to hang out in the grandest house in England, the pay isn’t exactly royal. You’ll make £16,755 per year (about $22,281). However, this is a live-in position, meaning your mailing address is BUCKINGHAM PALACE, so that’s kind of awesome, right? Oh ya, and meals are provided. So all in all, it’s not such a bad gig.
If you’re looking for a change of pace (and address) and you’re eligible to work in the UK, the vacancy closing date is September 18. Better start dusting off that resume (pun FULLY intended).
