When your morning starts off smoothly, it sets the tone for a great, productive day. That’s why we’re all about setting yourself up for success by learning life hacks to get you out the door with ease! Creating a daily routine that includes a healthy meal, joyful moments and organization will help to keep you and your kids structured. So without further ado, together with The Quaker Oats Company, we have come up with an organizational hack that will save you and your family enough time in the morning to eat a healthy breakfast. Then grab your keys, phone, purse and kiddos, and off you go! ;)

Cubby-Close-Up

We present… family cubbies! Not only do these cubbies provide space for items you want to organize, but they also include hooks for your keys and a charging station for your phone.

Materials

Materials:

– fabric cubby box

– washi tape

– grommets

Tools:

– tape measure

– hammer

– X-ACTO knife

– grommet tools (punch and die)

Instructions:

Process

1. Mark where you want to place your grommets on the cubby box, then cut out holes using an X-ACTO knife.

2. Using your grommet tools, attach the grommet to the cubby box. Place the grommet in the die, lay the fabric on top, then add the other side of the grommet (the washer) and put the punch through the hole. Hammer it in place.

3. Add washi tape to the cubby box to give it some character.

4. Pull cell phone charger cables through the grommets and then place the cubby box into the shelving unit.

Adding grommets to fabric is much easier than it looks — you just need the right tools. You can pick up a grommet tool kit (usually with grommets included) at a hardware or fabric store.

Adding-Washi

Once you have your tools, mark your fabric where you want your grommets to be, then cut holes using either an X-ACTO knife or a grommet hole punch (if you have one in your kit). Follow the instructions on the kit to add your grommets. Voilá! Grommet added. Now all you have to do is repeat this process for any additional grommets you wish to add :)

To give it a little flair, we’ve added washi tape stripes in our cubby box. This is a great way to customize your box and make it your own.

Cubby-in-hole

Place your completed cubby box back into the shelving unit…

Cell-Charger

Then pull your cords through the grommets to keep them organized. You’ll never lose your charger or have to deal with tangled cords again!

Cubby-Close-Up

Look how tidy those phones look in their cubby. It’s the little things like this that save a lot of time and make life easier.

Key-Hook

Add a small set of hooks to one of the shelf walls to hang your keys on. Everything in one place makes for an easy exit strategy.

FInal-cropped

You can keep your shoes, kids’ books and more in this chic shelving unit. We suggest having the unit close to your door or in the kitchen — wherever you spend most of your time in the morning.

Final-overhead

Off you go!
