Getting Glittery With It: Pimp Your Mouse’s Pad
Your mouse really is the workhorse of your desk. Think about how much you use it. But when was the last time you showed your mouse some love? It hangs out all day on some boring piece of rubbery cloth. Strange how little attention we pay to these our mouse homes, right?
Well, if you’re tired of neglecting your mouse’s house, we’re ready to teach you how to pretty up that old mousepad. Keep reading for easy ideas on how to pimp your mouse’s pad.
Supplies:
– Mousepad
– Card stock (80lb or thicker)
– Painter’s tape
– Mod Podge
– Brush
– Glitter
– Paint
First, buy yourself some quality card stock, 80 pound weight or greater (anything less will wrinkle from the moisture in the Mod Podge). Take your mousepad and trace the outline onto the paper. Cut out your shape.
Place some Mod Podge in a small disposable receptacle. We used foil cupcake liners but we’ve worked with Dixie cups before to great success. Liberally apply Mod Podge to one side of your paper, then carefully place and align on top of your mousepad.
Now it’s time to start decorating. Use painter’s tape to create a pattern. See below for some of ours.
Mix your Mod Podge with some glitter…
And paint your pad.
If you want to get funky with it, grab some kitchen cabinet liner. Place it over your mousepad that’s been covered with paper (and painted, if desired). Tape the sides down and then paint over with a contrasting color.
Think about all of the great color combos you can create. We’re kind of partial to black and gold.
But these bright colors are really pretty, too.
If you used paint or left some paper showing, make sure to seal it in with a final layer of Mod Podge. Let your mousepad dry and then take to work. You’ll be the envy of all of your co-workers.
