You Can Now *Virtually* Try Out Furniture Before You Buy
Buying home decor has never been more convenient than it is today. Literally all you have to do is take a measurement, hop on your computer and make a few clicks. Boom — before you know it, you’re getting the sofa or wall art of your dreams delivered right to your door. But sometimes even that isn’t enough. We’ve all been there: You find the dreamiest bookcase for your new book releases and get it home, only to discover that it totally ruins the feng shui of your living room. Despair! Fortunately for us, home decor retailer Houzz has just released an app that could solve that headache for good.
Released yesterday for iOS, iPad and Android, the free Houzz app includes a “View in My Room” feature that lets you virtually place the company’s 1.8 million + products IN YOUR ACTUAL HOME before you place your order. Imagine: You spot a product you like, and you get the option to superimpose it into an image of the room you’re looking to put it in. Genius!
Of course the app is only available for Houzz products, but we wouldn’t be surprised if other companies follow suit in the not-so-distant future. Either way, decorating our homes just got a heck of a lot easier.
