10 Movies + Shows to Binge Over Thanksgiving Weekend
Thanksgiving is a time for being thankful for all that you have. This Thanksgiving, we’re thankful for long holiday weekends that give us time to loaf around with friends and family and catch up on TV shows and movies. In the spirit of giving, we rounded up 10 shows and movies worth watching this weekend. Now all you have to do is get everyone together and press play.
1. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life on Netflix: IT’S FINALLY HERE! If you need to find us this weekend, we’ll be binge watching all of the Gilmore Girls reboot on Netflix. We’ll reconvene to talk on Monday. (Photo via Netflix)
2. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on HBO: If you missed this action-packed blockbuster when it premiered, it’s now available to watch on HBO. Although, we recommend exercising caution when debating Batman v Superman around the dinner table with family. (Photo via Warner Bros.)
ALL ABOUT THE CYBER WORLD
3. 3% on Netflix: If you’re into futuristic, dystopian series, this new Netflix show will be your latest binge. It’s set in the future where people must compete to get on the “better” side of the planet, but only 3% of candidates succeed. (Photo via Netflix)
4. Zero Days on Showtime: And if you’re into the dystopian NOW, this documentary on Showtime will scare you into worrying about cyber warfare, like, all the time. (Photo via Showtime)
FILMS FOR ANIMAL PEOPLE
5. Eddie the Eagle on HBO: If you need a feel-good movie, may we recommend this based-on-a-true-story flick about an underdog British skier in the 1998 Calgary Olympics. Plus, it stars Hugh Jackman as a lovable coach. You’re welcome. (Photo via 20th Century Fox)
6. Dances With Wolves on Hulu: Set during the civil war, this classic film is about an army lieutenant who escapes to live with wolves and Native Americans. It’s a good watch if you’re debating how to get back in touch with nature. (Photo via Orion Pictures)
WEEPY LOVE STORIES
7. Love and Honor on Hulu: Liam Hemsworth plays a soldier in Vietnam who is dumped by his girlfriend while abroad. He goes AWOL and heads back to the states to try to win her back. (Photo via IFC Films)
8. Punch Drunk Love on Hulu: This is one of those touching Adam Sandler films that you never expect to like as much as you do. Oh, and be aware: You’re probably going to cry during it. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. (Photo via New Line Cinema)
REVISIT YOUR CHILDHOOD
9. Mermaids on Hulu: ALL STAR CAST ALERT. This 1990 flick has got Cher, Winona Ryder and Christina Ricci. Oh, and Cher plays a part-time mermaid. What more do you need? (Photo via Orion Pictures)
10. Uncle Grandpa on Hulu: We know that sometimes you just need a good cartoon. This one, with the voice talents of Adam DeVine, is about a magical creature who is simultaneously everybody’s uncle AND grandpa — and he goes around saving the day with a slice of pizza. Pure gold.
