You can’t deny the power of sneakers. Seriously. The perfect pair will not only keep your feet from hating you all day long (sorry, stilettos!) but they can also make any outfit feel that much more fashion-forward. Sure, they’ve traditionally been reserved for off-duty time, but a clean, polished style (AKA nothing too athletic-feeling) can actually be worn at the office as well — especially for creative work settings or on casual Friday. To prove it, we found 10 street style-approved ensembles featuring sneakers that, well, just work.
Polish Off: This ensemble is incredibly sophisticated (yes, even with the white trainers). The tailored suit and coordinating monochromatic sweater feels so polished with the vibrant scarf and white box bag. (Photo via Kirstin Sinclair/Getty)
Tough As Leather: A pair of white kicks feels unexpected and modern with sleek leather pants and a luxe velvet blazer. We could totally picture this look for a casual lunch meeting when you want something elevated, but not fussy. (Photo via Christian Vierig/Getty)
Dress It Up: You can’t go wrong with a dress and sneaker combo. The formula is not only incredibly easy to put together, but the ensemble also looks effortlessly stylish as well. Top off the outfit with a blazer and a stylish bag, and you’re ready to take on the day. (Photo via Christian Vierig/Getty)
Tickled Pink: What can we say? Aimee Song’s look is basically our dream work outfit with her trendy fuchsia suit (complete with a cool, baggy fit), dad sneakers, gorgeous bag, and layered necklaces. (Photo via Edward Berthelot/Getty)
Mix and Match: For a high-end look, mix patterns by pairing a sweater with a contrasting printed skirt and sock sneakers that feature a patterned detail. If you really want to go for it, incorporate a bag that features a similar print as well. (Photo via Kirstin Sinclair/Getty)
Black Out: For an even more professional vibe, swap white sneakers for black sneakers and wear with coordinating black trousers. A tailored blazer in a vivid hue ties the entire look together. (Photo via Claudio Lavenia/Getty)
Easy Breezy: The maxi skirt you lived in all summer long easily transitions into fall with a vibrant chunky knit. Your favorite Nike kicks give the whole thing an incredibly cool vibe. (Photo via Christian Vierig/Getty)
High Standards: While a pair of high-top canvas sneakers may seem incredibly casual, they can totally work if you go for a more polished ensemble like this suit featuring sleek flared trousers. Go for a contrasting colorful bag to really make the outfit pop. (Photo via Christian Vierig/Getty)
Pop Up: If you want to go for the all-black vibe, make it pop with a statement-making coat (like this yellow stunner!) and add your bright white sneakers. (Photo via Kirstin Sinclair/Getty)
Leg Up: Is it slightly warmer outside? Let your on-trend chunky trainers shine in a chic skirt suit. To take the getup to the next level, add a belt to really accentuate your waist for a flattering look. (Photo via Christian Vierig/Getty)
