20 Can’t-Miss Red Carpet Looks from the 2016 CMAs
It’s quite a big night in the world of televsion: Not only are the Chicago Cubs taking on the Cleveland Indians in tonight’s World Series, but none other than Queen Bey herself (who took it back to the ‘80s this Halloween) will be hitting the stage at tonight’s Country Music Awards. Since we’re sure you’ll be hella’ busy flipping back and forth between channels, we’ve gone ahead and done the legwork of gathering the night’s best looks together for you. Scroll down to see all the show-stopping looks taking over tonight’s red carpet…
1. Carrie Underwood: Carrie Underwood wowed in an unbelievable blush-hued Michael Cinco gown fit for a princess. Adorned with Swarovski crystals from top to bottom, this dress shone almost as brightly as Carrie’s famous megawatt smile. Almost. (Photo via Jason Davis/Getty)
2. Miranda Lambert: If fellow country megastar Carrie Underwood played the part of a pretty princess, Miranda (seen here with boyfriend Anderson East) was the night’s dark queen. Her one misstep just may have been those shoes, which read as slightly more dominatrix than we would have liked to see paired with such a darkly romantic look. (Photo via Michael Loccisano/Getty)
3. Simone Biles: We’ve seen Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles on the red carpet before, but this is by FAR the most glam we’ve ever seen the pint-sized athlete look. In head to toe silver sequins, girl seriously shines. (Photo via Michael Loccisano/Getty)
4. Kelsea Ballerini: Country newcomer Kelsea Ballerini donned one of our favorite looks of the night in her sweeping Michael Costello dark floral gown. Adding a dramatic vamp lip for some dark flair, she was fall red carpet goals. (Photo via Michael Loccisano/Getty)
5. Gabby Douglas: Simone’s teammate Gabby Douglas gave Simone a run for her money on the carpet in her high-low slate-gray Ruben Singer cupcake dress. (Photo via Michael Loccisano/Getty)
6. Maddie Murlow + Tae Dye: Maddie Murlow and Tae Dye were quite the fashionable duo in complementary floral and emerald green floor-length gowns with matching dark lips. Maddie’s dress added interest with a (faux?) leather inlay and a single sleeve while Taylor kept it classic in spaghetti straps with gold accessories. (Photo via Michael Loccisano/Getty)
7. Aly Raisman: Ever the gymnast, Aly Raisman wouldn’t even ditch the leotard on the red carpet, although she did go to the extra trouble of adding an attached sheer baby pink overlay with sequins. And, is it just us, or are we also detecting an air of Glinda the Good Witch here? (Photo via John Shearer/Getty)
8. Jamie Lynn Spears: Brit’s little sis is all grown up with a pair of thigh slits that would make even Angelina blush. (Photo via Michael Loccisano/Getty)
9. Meghan Linsey: Donning a glitzy column dress with pulled-back finger curls, Meghan Linsey channeled a ‘20s era flapper girl — or Christina Aguilera post-“Dirrty” reinvention, take your pick. (Photo via Michael Loccisano/Getty)
10. Danielle Bradbery: We LOVED the deep wine hue of Danielle Bradbery’s gorgeous gauzy gown and its beautiful draped design, but the color-blocking on its left side didn’t translate quite so well on camera as one might have hoped: That’s not a wardrobe malfunction, kids — it’s just an oddly placed touch of taupe. 11. RaeLyn: Annnnddd the gorgeous gowns just keep coming: RaeLyn’s delicately embroidered blue-gray masterpiece makes her a best-dressed no-brainer. (Photo via Michael Loccisano/Getty)
12. Elle King: Okay, okay, we know Halloween was this week and all, but was it really necessary for Elle King to show up as a flapper-era Mickey Mouse? Girl, we LOVE you, but no. (Photo via Michael Loccisano/Getty)
13. Cassadee Pope: At first glance, we thought Cassadee Pope’s Marchesa gown was a pantsuit, but upon closer inspection, we realize the wrapped skirt and sheer bow top were actually melded as one. We don’t dislike this, per se, it just feels sort of… wrong for the event, and perhaps better suited for a luncheon. (Photo via Michael Loccisano)
14. Nicole Kidman: No doubt on hand to support hubby Keith Urban, Nicole broke all the rules about redheads wearing pink, going so far as to mix the two hues on her Gucci frock with billowed sleeves. (Photo via Michael Loccisano/Getty)
15. Faith Hill + Tim McGraw: Beloved country vets Tim and Faith (who recently celebrated their 20th anniversary!) must have been too busy with their current Soul2Soul tour to waste much time prepping for the CMAs: We’re just not digging Faith’s silver and black peplum creation. In fact, it’s a little… garish. (Photo via John Shearer/Getty)
16. Jennifer Nettles: Jennifer Nettles was a welcome breath of fresh air with serious pops of color amid a sea of pastels and dark hues. (Photo via John Shearer/Getty)
17. Hayley Orrantia: Where do we even being with the masterpiece that is Hayley Orrantia’s stunner? With tiered teal tulle for days, a sexy split V-neck floral halter top and dark, dark lips, girl was nothing if not breathtaking. (Photo via Michael Loccisano/Getty)
18. Maren Morris: While Maren’s metallic black and silver Michael Costello gown with a deep mesh V-neck inlay is pretty enough, it’s her hair that we’re really going gaga for: Those curls are TDF! (Photo via Michael Loccisano/Getty)
19. Kaitlyn Bristowe: The former Bachelorette (and mascara queen) added a fun twist to the night’s romantic goth red carpet theme by going for a flirty (but still totally classy) two-piece instead of a gown. (Photo via Michael Loccisano/Getty)
20. Kacey Musgraves: Also rocking a vampy lip was Kacey Musgraves, who was a vision in tiered lavender tulle. (Photo via Michael Loccisano/Getty)
