And Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2015 Is…
Sorry, Radiant Orchid, it looks like your reign as color queen has come to an end. Pantone has crowned a new color of the year for 2015 and its name is Marsala. Similar to the wine of the same name, picture this shade as something like burgundy, but with a browner tone. Every year Pantone, the leading company in all things color, releases a shade they expect to hit big in the coming year. Judging by last year’s choice, we’re guessing you better prepare yourselves for a Marsala color storm headed your way.
With a ’70s revival making its way into retail, this vintage-inspired shade will fit right in. When asked about selecting brown as the color of the year Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute told the Wall Street Journal, “It has an organic and a sophisticated air.” The shade is a rich alternative to black and could be used liberally as a new sort of neutral color.
