The Best Red Carpet Looks of the 2017 Oscars Have Arrived
The red carpet is the best part of any award show, to be sure, but it’s a statement that’s especially true of the Oscars. The 89th Academy Awards have finally arrived (find out how to livestream them here) in an uber-stylish finale to awards season, and so far, it’s definitely off to a bang: Our favorite celebrities did NOT disappoint. We’ll be updating looks as the stars arrive, so keep checking back for more!
1. Olivia Culpo: Olivia Culpo was truly a vision in a dress created in partnership with Marchesa and Stella Artois. The gown is meant to bring awareness to the global water crisis, and is made from — get this! — glass challis pieces to represent tears. (Photo via Kevin Mazur /Getty)
2. Ruth Negga: The Loving actress, who is one of the night’s seven actors of color up for an award, wore a custom Valentino lace dress with an Irene Neuwirth crown and ruby earrings, but it was perhaps her ACLU blue ribbon that made the biggest statement of all. (Photo via Frazer Harrison/Getty)
3. Cynthia Erivo: Tony winner Cynthia Erivo made her Oscars red carpet debut wearing a Paolo Sebastian dress, Laurence Dacade shoes, a Judith Leiber bag, and baubles by both Tiffany & Co. and Monique Péan. (Photo via Frazer Harrison/Getty)
4. Hailee Steinfeld: The True Grit actress was spring perfection in a sheer floral embellished Ralph and Russo gown from the upcoming Spring/Summer collection. (Photo via Frazer Harrison/Getty)
6. Felicity Jones: Jones, who you might remember from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, looked beautiful as ever in a white Dior gown with hints of metallic sheen. (Photo via TK/Getty)
7. Sofia Carson: The Descendants actress and singer looked ultra glam in a Monique Lhuillier dress and brooch with Christian Louboutin shoes. (Photo via Jeff Kravitz/Getty)
8. Sofia Boutella: The Algeria-born triple-threat (Boutella acts, dances, and sings) wore a sparkly Chanel gown from Karl Lagerfeld’s Spring/Summer 2017 line, and given its gray hue, we can’t help but wonder if it wasn’t the “controversial” frock Meryl Streep had her eye on? 9. Emma Roberts:Scream Queens‘ resident mean girl posed on the red carpet in an Armani Privé gown as part of the Red Carpet Green Dress initiative, which champions sustainable celebrity fashion. (Photo via Jeff Kravitz/Getty)

13. Jessica Biel: Jessica Biel took a bit of a bold risk in a KaufmanFranco gold metallic dress, but it totally paid off in the end, as all that glittered turned out to be gold. (Photo via Frazer Harrison/Getty)
14. Kirsten Dunst: The Hidden Figures actress was positively regal in her strapless black custom Christian Dior Haute Couture gown, with — wait for it — pockets! Her tousled hair, Niwaka diamond statement choker and earrings, and Christian Lacroix shoes only served to add to the actress’s old Hollywood glamour vibes. (Photo via Kevin Mazur/Getty)
15. Dakota Johnson: The 50 Shades Darker actress looked like 50 shades of gold in a muted gold Gucci gown and Cartier jewels “from a museum.” (Photo via Kevin Mazur/Getty)
16. Janelle Monáe: Wearing an Elie Saab couture dress straight off the runway (and a much a shorter ‘do), Monáe had us flashing back to Halle Berry’s infamous 2002 gown by the same designer, albeit with some added feathers and sequin embellishments. (Photo via Steve Granitz/Getty)
17. Ava DuVernay: Director Ava DuVernay looked great in this modest custom Ashi Studio gray long-sleeve beaded gown with matching sooty eye makeup and a nude lip. (Photo via Jeff Kravitz/Getty)
18. Viola Davis: The Fences star broke a record with her Actress in a Supporting Role nod this year as the first black woman to ever receive three Oscars nominations, and she’s slaying the red carpet to boot, in this beautiful Armani Prive gown, Niwaka jewelry, Bally bag, and Stuart Weitzman shoes. 19. Michelle Williams: Williams looked like an actual doll in her signature Louis Vuitton: The plunging neckline and embellished skirt were strikingly similar to Emma Roberts’ sustainable look, but both ladies looked equally gorge. (Photo via Frazer Harrison/Getty)
