Emily Bihl is a freelance writer and sometimes-songwriter currently undoing a lifetime of healthy eating in the great city of New Orleans. When she’s not writing, she can be found covered in clay at the ceramics studio or attempting an approximated downward dog. She likes her black labrador Selkie, unexpected anagrams, and cracking the sugar on creme brûlée with the back of a spoon.
If you're determined to make 2019 the year you finally take charge of your career or turn a business idea into a reality, there are mentors, resources, and inspiring speakers to help you make it happen. No matter what kind of professional venture you're pursuing, there's an event that can help support, connect, and motivate you. Ahead are the top female-focused conferences featuring fireside chats with industry leaders, networking opportunities, and all the tools you need to succeed.
Create & Cultivate: Founded by Jaclyn Johnson in 2012, C&C has made a name for itself by producing some seriously kickass conferences. Past speaker lineups have included Rebecca Minkoff, Meghan Markle, and Allure EIC Michelle Lee, each pouring out their hearts about female entrepreneurship and the quest for success. But we're also in love with them because of their pop-up shops, photo booths, and top-notch snacks. This year, you can attend a pop-up event in Austin in March or an NYC Conference in May. Girlboss Rally: If you're a lady with a plan, a dream, a fierce entrepreneurial spirit, or all of the above, this gathering is for you. Launched in 2017 by author and Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso, Girlboss Rally is known for featuring powerhouse speakers like Gwyneth Paltrow, Emily Weiss, and Ashley Graham. Each rally is insanely 'grammable and interactive with activities like professional headshots, intimate business workshops, and even on-site manicures and massages. (Photo via Getty)
The Imperfect Boss Camp: Your relationship with your boss changes completely the day you strike out on your own and realize, wait... you *are* your boss. This Ontario-based camp takes a totally down-to-earth approach to encourage confidence and creating a community for strong women everywhere. (Photo via Laylee Emadi Photography)
Inspired Retreat: This might be the most ridiculously picturesque conference-slash-getaway we've ever seen. Creatives attending the weekend outside Nashville will be treated to tons of creative and inspiring content from a business perspective. (Photo via Anna Filly)
LOLA Retreat: LOLA is all about the Benjamins, baby. This conference is centered on helping women tackle their finances, but (gasp!) talking about them in a real way. Whether you're a money pro or always looking at your bank account balance through half-closed eyes, this event will give you the tools you need to get straight about the almighty dollar. Altitude Summit: This is the conference for creative entrepreneurs and stylish social media influencers — all set in a literal oasis that is Palm Springs. This year's speakers include Joanna Gaines *and* Joy Cho of Oh Joy!, so get your ticket before they sell out! (Photo Via Altitude Summit)
Hustle HER Way Summit: This Pittsburgh-based event takes a uniquely hands-on approach with lots of workshops amidst their speaker series and panel discussions, so if you learn best by doing, it's a great fit for you. You'll rub elbows with other inspiring ladies, support woman-owned businesses in their pop-up forms, and make connections you'll never forget. (Photo Via Hustle HER Way Summit)
Cherry Bombe Jubilee: Foodies, this one's for you. The ridiculously successful Cherry Bombe media empire of women in the food world doesn't disappoint when it comes to this one-day Brooklyn event. Connect and converse with winemakers, bakers, chefs, industry icons, and more while enjoying a delicious breakfast, a lunch, and cocktails, of course. (Photo via Sidney Bensimon)
The Athena Pack: Looking for a mentor? A new girl gang? Just some cool connections? Bozeman-based Athena Pack is the place to do it. This two-day summit is all about "the company you keep"; it was founded on the idea that a pack of strong women helps each member become their best self. Who knows, maybe you'll meet your new business BFF during daytime yoga or over vegan treats. (Photo via Erika Peterman)
Yellow Conference: Featuring both smaller retreats and larger-scale conferences, Yellow Co is specifically designed for the solopreneur. This year's schedule includes both a one-day NYC event and a two-day LA event. Past speakers include Miki Agrawal of THINX, as well as bestselling authors, poets, bloggers, and other female entrepreneurs. (Photo via Caca Santoro)
Field Trip: We're particularly excited to hear that Field Trip, which is always on the movi, is making Marfa its aesthetic inspiration-packed destination for 2019. Particularly suited for photographers, videographers, and visual artists, Field Trip takes a holistic approach to the "conference" setup, balancing a mix of practical know-how from marketing giants and thought leaders with mind-body-enriching goodness like soul-feeding yoga in the desert.
