We’re Already Losing It Over 2019’s New Girl Scout Cookie Flavor
It’s hard not to get caught up in the frenzy of Girl Scout cookie season year after year, ao when they announced the new flavor for 2019 today we started immediately clearing pantry space and planning our cookie-and-wine pairings. Get ready for the new, the fabulous, the crave-worthy: Gluten-Free Caramel Chocolate Chip Girl Scout Cookie.
Along with Toffee-tastic (a buttery, crisp sugar cookie dotted with toffee bits), the new Caramel Chocolate Chip cookie is gluten-free, and it sounds like it still has all the things you’d want from a really indulgent snack. Semi-sweet chocolate chips and rich caramel flavor are in every bite of the chewy treat, and it’s all topped off with a sprinkle of sea salt to really make things pop.
We reached out to Girl Scouts to learn more about this cookie choice. Stewart Goodbody, senior director of communications and external affairs for Girl Scouts of the USA responded in an email, “The flavor is on-trend: Chocolate and caramel cookie flavor combinations are increasingly popular among consumers. What’s more, the gluten-free market is growing — In fact, millennials are two times as likely to factor gluten-free into their cookie purchase,” Pretty sophisticated for food you’re probably going to buy from a kid in a parking lot.
Both Gluten-Free Caramel Chocolate Chip Girl Scout Cookie and the returning Toffee-tastic are only available in select markets until supplies last, and you have to buy them from a registered Girl Scout (you might even run into one who sells their products online!). You can use the “Find Cookies” tool on the Girl Scouts website to find out when and where they’re on sale in your area.
The proceeds from all cookie sales go to support local Girl Scout troops, so basically every box you buy goes toward empowering a new generation of women to be business-savvy, community-minded entrepreneurs. Worth every penny, right? We knew our cookie habit was making the world a better place.
