Your Friends Will Freak Over This Epic 9-Layer Red, White and Blue Cake Recipe

4th of July is no ordinary holiday, so to celebrate America’s birthday, we would never create anything less than an extraordinary cake. We combined all of the patriotic elements with a shocking nine cake layers to create the most patriotic cake ever made. Keep reading for the deets!


Ingredients:

– 12 eggs

– 2 cups water

– 2 cups oil

– red and blue food coloring

– assorted sprinkles

– sparkler toppers

Equipment:

– three 6-inch cake pans

– three 8-inch cake pans

– three 10-inch cake pans

– one 16-inch piping bag

Instructions:

1. Mix together cake mix, eggs, water, and oil in a very large bowl.

2. Divide batter between nine bowls in the following proportions: 270 grams for the 6-inch cake layers, 360 grams for the 8-inch cake layers, 450 grams for the 10-inch cake layers.

3. Ombre tint each set of layers in red, white and blue.

4. Pour each color into the correct size pan and bake cakes according to package directions. Let cool completely before frosting.

5. Place the darkest red cake layer on a plate and pipe a layer of frosting on top. Gently use a knife or offset spatula to smooth the layer. Top with the next layer of red and repeat until all nine layers have been frosted in a red, white, and blue rainbow.

6. Decorate with sprinkles, candles, sparklers, or flags and enjoy!
