Here Are 50 Ways to Land Your (Dream!) Job
Job hunting is tough at any level, whether you’re a recent college grad or looking to make a big career move. It’s overwhelming, to say the least, but we all start by searching for an open position. Once you spiff up your resumé and find a job that you actually want, you’ve got to go through the dreaded (and often intimidating) hiring process: There are countless interviews (what should you wear?!), lots and lots of paperwork, often there are tests involved and, of course, there’s the waiting. Looking for a full-time job is a full-time job. And it’s exhausting.
Luckily for unemployed folk, the co-writers of the book, “Making Good” are giving us a little guidance. Dev Aujila and Billy Parish took all of their book research and transformed it into a really cool (and easy-to-use) interactive website that outlines exactly how to find a career and make positive change in the world. With 50 Ways To Get A Job, you’ll land a position, earning money by doing what you love.
50 Ways To Get A Job is a color-coded roadmap to creating your ideal career path. The resource works by categorizing the job search process into eight areas: Starting, Finding My Purpose, Overwhelmed, Learning New Skills, Networking, Stuck, Apply For Jobs and Interviewing. No matter what stage you’re in, each category has anywhere from four to eight steps to guide you (50 in total). These include making a list of all your skills, updating your LinkedIn profile, reflecting on your dream job, visiting a provided, helpful website or practicing ways of introducing yourself.
Once you complete the steps and land a role you love, the site encourages you to share your story.
If it sounds to good to be true, it isn’t. But to be clear, reading and following the advice of the free site does not guarantee that a job will magically land in your lap. However, it does promise to provide step-by-step tools for a happier life.
