A Letter to Our Readers: Empowered Women Empower Women

Whether you’re a Democrat or Republican, I think we can all agree that this past year has been a historical one.
Over the past couple of months, we have received feedback and questions about why and how we’ve covered political events. Because it’s so important to me that Brit + Co remain a positive, inclusive place for all women, I wanted to take a moment to directly address your concerns:
I believe that Brit + Co readers are some of the smartest, best-informed and most aware women on the planet. They care about more than just DIY and style inspiration; they also want to know about major issues that will affect their lives.
Our mission has always been to empower women to live more creatively, but creativity can be applied beyond an art canvas — it’s also an important tool for managing relationships, growing a career, and navigating world events. We want to give women the tools to be their best selves across the board — whether it’s with home decor tips or important healthcare policy information.
As a media company, it’s our job to report on issues that could impact our community (AKA you!) in an objective and truthful manner. We never seek to isolate or exclude. We want to be a resource for you, giving you the tools to make informed decisions.
However, we do believe it’s crucial for women to know what decisions are being made on their behalf, and as such, will be tracking those specific news updates closely. On that note, the one place we will take a biased stance is on any decision that impacts women’s rights. We believe women’s rights are human rights, and that women should feel equality in their careers, family lives and more. Brit + Co will boldly stand up for your rights, as I hope you would do for your own sisters, mothers, daughters and girlfriends.
Moving forward, we plan on continuing to cover news and politics in a way that informs and reflects a variety of viewpoints. To prove that point, we would love to publish a few op-eds from our diverse audience about their stance on these topics and why they believe what they believe. Our ultimate goal is to inspire and educate women to be their best selves. We hope you will support us in the quest to make Brit + Co a place of tolerance, empowerment and positivity.
