A Wonder Woman Sequel Is in the Works
The new Wonder Woman movie has not only proven to be a box-office hit and money-making machine; it’s also shown why it’s so important to have kick-butt ladies in lead roles — just take a look at these tiny WW fans, along with the way these kindergarten kiddos reacted to the film. And because of the movie’s wild success, a sequel is already in the works.
“Patty [Jenkins, Wonder Woman’s director] and I are writing the treatment right now,” Warner Bros. Pictures’ Geoff Johns told Variety. “The goal is to make another great Wonder Woman film.” He continued by saying that he and Jenkins “had a blast” while making the first installment and have a “cool idea” for a sequel.
According to Nylon, Warner Bros. President and CCO, Toby Emmerich, also told Variety that a second Wonder Woman movie would most likely again be set in the past, but not during World War I (or in his own words: anywhere between “1917 and 2017”), while Jenkins has said that she would like the sequel to be set in the US as opposed to Europe.
TBH, they could set the story in the US, Europe, or even on the moon and we’d still watch it about a bajillion times if it’s as good as the first.
