Adam Levine Offered to Pay for Christina Grimmie’s Funeral
Along with the joy of the Tony’s, there were also unbelievably tragic moments this past weekend, including the untimely death of 22-year-old singer and The Voice contestant Christina Grimmie. With grieving tributes coming in from fans and those who knew and loved the young woman, Adam Levine has offered to pay for Christina’s funeral in a gesture to help the heartbroken family.
According to Christina’s brother, Marcus, the Maroon 5 singer and soon-to-be father, who was Christina’s coach during The Voice competition, called her mother himself to make the kind offer. Posting to FB, Marcus included a pic of his sister with the caption, “I found out this morning, that Adam Levine personally called my mother and said he will pay for the funeral and her plane flight, and I was blown away.”
A GoFundMe page has also been set up to help the Grimmie family through this difficult time. With the aim of collecting $4,000, the fund currently sits at $171,814. Marcus responded to this outpouring of sympathy with, “Words cannot express…literally I have no words.”
He also added, “Please do not feel the need to donate anything at all. Please. Just leave a kind word, message or picture in the comments or message me and sign this change.org petition to help Christina possible be remembered in the next legend of Zelda game, her favorite game of all time.”
Our hearts go out to the Grimmie family.
