If you’ve dreamed of being able to see the Mona Lisa up close and personal — without having to elbow past a million other tourists to do it — here’s your chance. The Louvre’s iconic pyramid turns 30 this year and to celebrate its birthday, for one night on April 30, Airbnb is giving two lucky people the chance to spend the night in the world’s largest museum.
The evening starts with a private tour with an art historian (the Obamas and Beyoncé and Jay-Z have done similar ones in the past, so you’re in good company). Then you’ll enjoy a unique opportunity to spend quality time with the museum’s resident VIPs. Relax in a lounge while listening to French music on vinyl and sipping on an aperitif with Mona Lisa herself, enjoy a menu prepared by a personal chef in a pop-up dining room along with Venus de Milo, and live like royalty in Napoleon III’s luxurious chambers as you get treated to an acoustic concert. After you’ve had your fill of art and culture, spend the night beneath the stars and under the iconic Pyramid in a bespoke mini-pyramid-shaped bedroom, and then wake up the next morning to a Parisian breakfast in bed. You’ll have the entire Louvre to yourselves — we won’t say you should reenact Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s “Apes**t” video, but we won’t say you shouldn’t either.
The contest is open now until April 12, and a winner will be selected on April 19. The winner and a guest will receive flights/transportation to Paris, the night stay at the Louvre, and Airbnb accommodations in Paris on April 29 and May 1. Visit airbnb.com/louvre and answer why you would be Mona Lisa’s perfect guest. Bonne chance!
