Alexa Chung’s New App Is a Chic Update on Cher’s Clueless Closet
Funny and fashionable lady Alexa Chung has officially stepped into new territory: She just launched an app called Villoid that is basically a grown-up version of Cher’s Clueless closet. As co-founder, Alexa had a lot of creative control over the look and feel of Villoid, so you know it’s going to be full of fun features that will leave you ready to take on NYFW by storm even if you’re not a fashionista — yet.
The free iOS app is described in the App Store as a destination to “experiment, celebrate and play with clothes from hundreds of brands,” so you can experience high-end fashions without having to commit to the expensive price tags associated with brands like Alexa Chung for AG, Marc Jacobs, Chloé and more. The app is similar to a social network in the sense that you can follow friends, influencers and brands and will be notified of the latest + greatest in the fashion world — all with the option to buy. Another rad feature in this app is that you can browse only sale items from your fave brands, which is a score in its own.
Fashionistas everywhere know that a look is much more than just the clothes in an outfit — you need to think about it from head-to-toe, hairstyle-to-shoes and everything in between. This is where mood boards come in, which are an important step in finding the style you’re trying to emulate. You can spot an amazing jacket from one board, an enviable hairstyle from another and discover the ideal shoes to tie it all together from another board. You can create endless boards of your own (great way to choose your outfits ahead of time), follow others’ boards and get serious style inspo by browsing through what like-minded peeps are inspired by already. It’s like high-fashion meets tech meets Pinterest: three things we are all about.
