‘American Idol’ Winner Scotty McCreery Ties the Knot in a Picture-Perfect Mountainside Ceremony
Scotty McCreery, who you may recall as the big winner of season 10 of American Idol, won big in the love department today, too: He married high school sweetheart and girlfriend of six years, Gabi Dugal!
As People reports, the 24-year-old country singer and his love, whom he met in kindergarten, said their “I dos” on Saturday in an outdoor ceremony in the breathtaking North Carolina mountains.
After taking to Twitter to announce “This is it” at 6am, the reality star walked down the aisle in front of 200 of his closest family members and friends. He was joined by his bride-to-be, who looked stunning in an embroidered V-neck gown from Morilee and her hair loosely pinned back under a veil as seen in exclusive photos posted by People.
The couple reportedly exchanged handwritten vows with the help of McCreery’s childhood pastor, then headed inside for their first dance to Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” Later in the day, the newlyweds and their guests feasted on steak, pasta, and Cajun dishes from the 24-year-old bride’s native Louisiana. As for dessert, the couple forwent a traditional cake in favor of varying pies.
Speaking with People, the young bride, who works as a pediatric cardiac nurse at Duke University Hospital, revealed that she decided to keep the decor “very classic,” opting for three main colors: black, white, and gold. “I went with greenery and white flowers, some lanterns and candle votives [for a] rustic feel,” she explained. “We fell in love with the mountains during the summertime… and our [venue] is like a little castle in the woods.” According to the groom, it was all “very Beauty and the Beast!” We approve!
It was a fitting setting for the lovebirds, who became engaged in the idyllic setting back in September after completing a hike to one of area’s mountaintops.
Up next, the duo is off to Tahiti for their honeymoon, after which they’ll return home to finally move in together. “I love my guys,” the singer said of his current roommates, “but it’ll be much nicer coming back from the road and seeing my wife instead of three motley dudes!”
Congrats, you two!
