10 Tips That’ll Help You Finally Start Using a Planner

We *love* that physical planners are the new “it” organizational trend — so much so that we decided to release a brand-new Target collection of Brit + Co Planners, including eight different personalizable agenda spirals and binders, plus dozens of fun accessories like stickers, magnetic bookmarks, patches, sticky notes, washi tape, and pocket folders. But because we want to actually stick to using our planner (as opposed to giving up after a week and using it as a chic coffee coaster), we thought we should probably learn a few tricks to help us get started in the trendy planner world. Let’s get planning!

1. Choose a planner that’s customizable to your particular needs. While choosing a planner that is drop-dead gorgeous is *always* important, it’s equally vital to consider investing in a planner that you can customize to your individual day-to-day requirements. Are you someone who only needs to jot down one or two things per day? Then monthly inserts might do the trick. Are you a lady who likes to doodle and color? Perhaps some additional coloring pages might be helpful. Whatever your needs are, make sure your personal planner has all the essentials you need (or space to add them in later!) so you’re all set to start planning.

2. Pick a planner you can feasibly carry around with you. Part of keeping up with a planner is having it physically with you when spontaneous plans get made — whether that’s when your boss casually mentions a new meeting next week or when you’re out at the doctor and they want to schedule a follow-up. If you’re the type of gal who can handle carrying around an extra-large planner in their backpack, then go for it! But if you’re notorious for leaving the house with a teensy clutch, be mindful of size when you’re choosing your next go-to planner.

3. Fill in birthdays, annual events, and vacations as soon as you bring your planner home from the store. Now that you’ve decided which planner to call your own, you’re going to want to mark in all of your important events PRONTO. Check Facebook for all your important birthdays and write them down in your planner immediately so you know exactly when to send Grandma’s card or mail your bestie’s prezzie. Not only will this help you avoid sending the dreaded belated card, but it will also help you stay motivated to keep filling in your planner, as you’ve already started filling in a little each month.

4. Schedule a daily planner sesh in the a.m. Part of keeping up with your planner is scheduling some dedicated time each day to help fill in your daily to-dos and same-day events. We prefer taking a little time in the morning to fill in the day’s tasks while we sip on our much-needed cup o’ joe.

5. Splurge on some cute extras. We’re totally of the mindset that having a few cute stationery pieces will definitely inspire us to use our planners more… plus they look uber-cute in organizational Instagram pics (just saying). Whether you invest in washi tape, stickers, or binder clips, having a few adorable extras is definitely motivation to keep up with your agenda.

6. Use sticky notes to your advantage. Decorative planning is definitely on-trend right now. And while we love creating a custom planner aesthetic with creative goodies, it can sometimes make us feel uneasy when we have to quickly jot down an important note and ruin our well-planned spread. If this sounds like you, we *highly* suggest investing in some cute sticky notes. They’re a great way to get your ideas down without having to commit them to your planner indefinitely.

7. Use check marks to acknowledge your accomplishments. Finished that extra-hard work assignment? Make sure you give yourself the credit you deserve by using a check mark (or another custom symbol) to acknowledge that you slayed your task. It’ll make you feel super-productive AND ensure you’re looking at your planner throughout the day.

8. Follow planner Instagrammers for inspiration. We love following inspirational chicks on Instagram for fitness motivation and #OOTDs… so why should it be any different when it comes to planner inspo? Here’s a list of awesome planner girls on Instagram to get you started. Not only will you get a ton of great ideas to better organize and decorate your planner, but whenever they come up in your feed, you’ll get a free reminder to start planning. Win-win!

9. Use your note pages wisely. Most planners come with several blank note pages that you can use for whatever you wish. But before you forget about them entirely, we suggest taking the time to brainstorm how you’re going to use them as soon as you pick out your new planner. Whether you want to map out your annual goals, track your kiddo’s milestones, or simply reserve it as a place to store extra work notes, using this space to your advantage will help you keep on top of your planning and track what matters to you.

10. Don’t be afraid to experiment. We totally understand that pretty planner spreads are definitely #goals, but don’t stress too much about making your planner look full or Instagram-perfect. Take risks with new organizational strategies and test out new decorating goodies whenever you get the chance. In other words, have fun with your planner, lady!

Okay, so this one isn't technically cabinet organization, but it will definitely save you room in your cabinets. DIY this wine rack that will move your wine bottles from your cabinets onto the wall and add color to your room at the same time.

Grabbing bins from somewhere like The Container Store or Target can help you contain your products so they don't end up spread across your shelf, and they also make it easier to stack your items since they won't fall over.

Don't underestimate the power of labels. When you buy your bins, tubs, and other organizers, write what you intend to store inside on all the containers and make sure that the corresponding product is always inside. That way, you'll have one bin of flour instead of multiple half-empty bags. Plus, it just looks prettier!

For a quick update on the system you already have, stack your plates so that like plates are together, with the biggest plates are on the bottom — this will ensure they sit together in a way that takes up the least amount of room.

Make sure all the rims of your glasses are touching when storing them in your cabinets, and when you're organizing mugs, face the handles toward each other so there's less empty space and more room for new mugs. Because let's be honest, we can always buy new mugs.

From Closet Clutter to Closet Envy: 4 Organization Hacks You Need To Know

It’s a happy day when we get to put away our sweaters and jackets and pull out our sundresses and sandals for warmer weather, which (we swear) is just around the corner. Organizing your closet can seem like a daunting task, but creating a simple system for success can make it manageable and even enjoyable. When you start each morning by opening your closet and see the picture perfect image of organization, you know you’re going to have a good day. Not only does it look good, but it makes getting ready so, so much easier. We talked to THE queen of organization, Jill Pollack, who runs a whole business helping women get organized. Here’s what she told us.

Hack 1: Keep your staples front and center

“People always ask me, ‘what’s your system?’ But it’s different for everyone,” Pollack says. “Do you think a skirt is casual? Do you wear more color or neutrals? For many people, their work and going out attire overlap.” Pollack recommends that instead of sectioning your closet into work clothes, going-out clothes and the like, think in simple terms and keep your staple items in front so they are easy to find. “Black tie clothes are for a rare occasion, so stick them in the back of your closet or a whole other closet all together.”

Hack 2: Don't be overly sentimental

You must learn to let go of those items you are never going to wear, like the jeans you keep thinking you’ll fit into someday or the t-shirt that you wouldn’t be caught dead in but reminds you of freshman year of college. “If you haven’t worn it in over a year and your weight and lifestyle have stayed pretty much the same, pass on it,” Pollack says. Other items Pollack says you need to chuck — anything irrevocably stained, not worth repairing, clothes you’ve tried on at least three times this year and rejected and items that make you feel unattractive.

Hack 3: Store seasonal items cleanly and neatly

Pollack says the best way to keep your clothes in good shape when you are going to go months without wearing them is by first making sure they are clean, neatly folding them and sticking them in a cedar chest.

Hack 4: Create a system for shoes based on your closet size

Unless you have a shoe organization system set in place, your shoes are going to end up in a big heap on your closet floor. “If you have room for shelves, I like putting shoes there, at eye level,” Pollack says. “If you have a lot of closet floor space, I like double and triple shoe racks. But a hanging shoe rack works too.”

Demi Moore, 62, Got Emotional While Accepting Her First Golden Globe: "I Do Belong"

Despite the fact her first role was at the age of 16, 62-year-old Demi Moore just took home her first-ever major acting award at the 2025 Golden Globes for playing Elizabeth Sparkle in The Substance. While the win is a new kind of victory, it's her acceptance speech that truly made the most impact.

After a producer told her she was a "popcorn actress" in her 30s, Demi Moore "made that mean that [accolades weren't] something that I was allowed to have."

The actress "bought in" to the idea that she could make super successful movies but never get acknowledgement for them. "I believed that, and that corroded me over time, to the point where I thought a few years ago that maybe this was it," she continues in her speech. "Maybe I was complete, maybe I've done what I was supposed to do. And as I was at kind of a low point, I had this magical, bold, courageous, out-of-the-box, absolutely bonkers script come across my desk called The Substance."

In an era where women are constantly fighting the idea that we're too much — too needy, too emotional, too loud — while also battling the narrative that we're not skinny, young, or pretty enough, The Substance showed Demi that "you're not done," she says. The movie follows 50-year-old Elisabeth Sparkle who's fired from her aerobics TV show because of her age...and winds up buying a black market serum to reconnect with a "more perfect" version of herself (played by Margaret Qualley). The movie made waves with its commentary on beauty standards, and the markets that profit off them.

"In those moments when we don't think we're smart enough or pretty enough or skinny enough or successful enough, or basically just not enough, I had a woman say to me, 'Just know you will never be 'enough,' but you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick.'"

"And so today," Demi continues, "I celebrate this as a marker of my wholeness and of the love that is driving me, and for the gift of doing something I love and being reminded that I do belong."

After her win, Demi Moore had another special moment when Entertainment Tonight showed her her family's reaction! "They're a vocal crowd," the actress said of daughter Scout Willis' video showing the family screaming at the top of their lungs. "I don't have my glasses with me, so I haven't been able to read any of my messages," she jokes. "But as soon as I am finished they will be my first FaceTime."

"Everything I do is for them," she continues. "It's for my daughters, for my daughter's daughter. I hope in that same way that that translates out also for all women."

In July 2017, a source seemingly confirmed what many fans had been wondering for months: that Tom Holland and Zendaya had been dating. In her Vogue cover story for May 2024, Zendaya talks a lot about how fame has affected both her life and Tom Holland's. “His [career] changed overnight. One day you’re a kid and you’re at the pub with your friends, and then the next day you’re Spider-Man,” she says. “I definitely watched his life kind of change in front of him. But he handled it really beautifully.”

Tom Holland showed up for the London premiere of Challengers, and got to support Zendaya in the sweetest way. After going sober in 2022, Tom Holland announced on October 15 he was launching a non-alcoholic drink company called Bero. “When I got sober, I started exploring the world of non-alcoholic beers and realized there was space for me to fit in,” Tom says in an interview with Forbes. “My first year sober was really difficult, and had I had Bero, I think it would have been easier.”
