15 Ways to Pair Boots With Your Favorite Pair of Jeans

As winter rolls in, out comes all our winter footwear. The most prominent among the collection: boots. The durable shoes are great for keeping our toes cozy in freezing temperatures, but let’s be honest: sometimes it’s hard to style those chunky things. We’ve already showed you 18 adorable ways to rock the boot + skirt combo and now we’re coming at ya with some more styling insight. This time boots + jeans get the spotlight — two winter staples every girl should have in her closet. Whether you’re in the market for both or just in need of some inspiration, here are 15 ways to rock boots and jeans this winter.

1. Jade Green Jeans and Heeled Hiking Boots: Okay so maybe these “hiking” boots ($130) wouldn’t actually be so great for a mountain side adventure, but they look pretty sweet with some brightly-colored jeans, like this jade green pair from 7 For All Mankind ($204). This super skinny cut will help even out the clunkiness of these shoes. (via La Petite Anglaise)

2. Riding Boot and Black Jeans: It’s hard to beat a pair of classic riding boots. This affordable pair keeps things simple in front and adds a flash of color in the back with a blue zipper ($42). Pair these with a high-rise skinny jean ($66) to make those legs look extra long and throw in some scuffed up knees to rough up the look a little bit. (via Prosecco and Plaid)

3. Matching Boots and Jeans: Here’s a monochromatic look FTW. Hold on to that gorgeous fall color palette with a pair of caramel colored pants ($128) and matching lace up boots ($169). Keep the look in this rich shade of brown for a style that’s seasonally on point, or take things a little darker by replicating the look in all black.

SKINNIES

4. Leopard Jeans and Grey Heeled Boots : Leopard pants? We’re into it. This washed out pair ($39) allows the pattern to be noticeable, but not too wild. When working with a patterned pant, make sure to keep things simple shoe-wise. This pair in particular, looks great with some practical grey suede booties ($195). (via Love Being Petite)

5. Brown Boots and Light Wash Jeans If you’re itching for a pair of classic boots but don’t want something quite as high as the riding boot, these short leather boots from Frye ($298) are a great alternative. Since these evoke a slight cowboy vibe, go ahead and keep the look rustic with a pair of light wash denim ($124). (via Von Vogue)

6. Skinny Black Jeans and Flat Boots Well hello city slicker. This black on black combo is dramatic in all the right ways. Keep the look super sleek by combining a pair of skinny black jeans ($28) with a flat ankle bootie ($195). We’re guess both of these are going to become instant wardrobe staples. (via Van Vogue)

STRAIGHT LEG

7. Distressed Denim and Grey Boots: Keep your vibe totally casual in a roughed up pair of straight legged jeans ($70). Cement the carefree style by throwing on some slouchy mid-calf boots ($86). (via Who What Wear)

8. Mustard Jeans and Patent Boots Don’t be afraid of the mustard-colored pant. This rich, mustard-colored denim ($36) is unexpected but looks super cozy when paired with a chunky sweater and scarf. Add a little bit of edge to this wintery outfit with some patent leather. These lace-up booties ($76) will do just the trick. (via Chictopia)

9. Cuffed Jeans and Buckle Boots Buckled booties we love you. Those minimal ankle booties are great, but sometimes you need a little extra detailing. This sassy pair of red boots ($33) are gorgeous enough to even make Dorothy jealous. Keep them on full display by pairing them with straight-legged cuffed jeans ($210). (via A Type of Style)

BOYFRIEND

10. Overalls and Ankle Boots: Overalls are officially back. If you thought boots were out of the question with this throwback garment, think again. Mash up a battered pair ($50) with these super trendy low-cut booties ($139). (via Holly Dolly Darling)

11. Boyfriend Jean and Suede Boots: Spice things up by straying from the classic, neutral colored boot. This rich, olive suede bootie ($135) will still match with tons of outfits, but will add a colorful element to your wardrobe. For a bootie this length, pair it with a cool, casual boyfriend cut jean ($188) and cuff the bottom to fully show off the shoe. (via Casual Glamorous)

WIDE LEGGED

12. Mom Jeans and Cut-Out Boots: You know those frumpy jeans you used to make fun of your mom for wearing? Well those are cool now. Paired with some chunky white sneakers, these loose fitting jeans ($88) will look totally dorky but cuff them and pop on a trendy cut out bootie ($134) and you’ve instantly given those high-rise jeans a fashion makeover. (via Bella Mumma)

13. Vintage Jeans and Moto Boots: Spend the day walking around like a rebel without a cause in a pair of chunky motorcycle boots ($85).With footwear as unruly as this you’ve got to keep it cool in the pants department with some roughed up denim, like this faded and distressed pair ($60). If you’re into the boots but not so into this bulky combo try pairing them with a skinny jean for a sleeker look.(via These n’ That n’ Those)

14. Extreme Cuffed Jeans and Stiletto Boots: We’ve seen cuffed jeans before, but never quite this cuffed. It’s a little drastic but we’re kind of loving it. This dark wash pair from MIH jeans is definitely pricey ($255) but the luxury denim has been worn by everyone from Jane Birkin to Farah Fawcett. Slim down the wide legged look with a super sleek stiletto bootie ($129). (via Pop Sugar)

15. Casual Jeans and Open-Toed Boots: These loose fitting J.Crew jeans ($108) would look great with a sweatshirt for a casual Sunday around town, or you could totally glam up the look by pairing them with a sexy pair open-toed booties ($98), like this sky-high pair complete with (faux) crocodile detailing. This mix of dressy and casual is perfect for when you want to look nice but not too nice. (via Elle)

Ask anyone who knows me and they'll tell you I'm consumed with fashion, but you know what makes me want to burn things down to the ground? It's trying to find pants or jeans that flatter my petite height. For reasons beyond my control, I'm in the 5'2" club which makes finding short girl-friendly clothes harder than it needs to be, ugh!

From boot-cut to skinny jeans, I'm picky about what I buy because I've been known to look like a tiny, angry chipmunk who's been forced to wear something against her will. Chipmunks are cute, but I'm sure they wouldn't want to wear anything ill-fitting and I'm sure you feel the same!

Keep scrolling to find the best petite jeans that anyone 5'3" and under can confidently wear!

Madewell

Madewell Petite Superwide-Leg Jeans

As a former wearer of skinny jeans, I've been on the wide-leg train for a while. They're roomier IMO and give me reassurance that I won't unnecessarily rip a seam when bending down. Particularly, I live in this pair by Madewell. They're the perfect wash and elongate my frame!

Style tip: I usually wear ankle strap pump heels with them for an elevated look!

J.Crew Factory

J.Crew Factory Wide-Leg Crop Jean

I don't wear cropped jeans often, but J. Crew encouraged me to take a risk with this pair. The waist area reminds me of Madewell's Superwide-Leg design, but distressed hem makes them look less stuffy. I've purchased ankle jeans before and the fit was terrible so I was pleasantly surprised at how great these look on me!

Express

Express High Waisted Light Wash Jeans

These light wash jeans are also cropped, but the hem is more straight-forward than J. Crew's version. I usually wear this pair when my household has doctor's or dentist's appointments because they have an air of comfortability about them. When you're on the go, it's important to be able to move around when you need to!

Banana Republic Factory

Banana Republic Factory Mid-Rise Straighter Carpenter Jeans (Petite)

The first thing that drew me to these jeans are their Ecru color. The second is how well they fit when I tried them on in-store. Lengthwise, they stop slightly below my ankles which is good when I actually want to show off my shoes. Sometimes I don't want to go for the oversized wide-leg look so these are always a good alternative for me.

Pistola

Pistola Petite Lana High Rise Wide Leg Jeans

It's true — I'm preoccupied with this style of jeans. Aside from Madewell, Pistola has the best feeling denim I've had the pleasure of wearing. This pair specifically doesn't feel stiff, but they don't get wrinkled either! Also, the hem doesn't drag the ground which is a nice change from the pairs I own that do this.

Good American

Good American Petite Skate Jeans

Here's the thing — skate jeans were popular when I was in middle school. A few of my former friends used to wear them with Vans so I'll always have a soft spot for them. The only thing I don't recommend doing is wearing them on rainy days because that wet feeling on your ankles feels weird.

Ann Taylor

Ann Taylor Petite Cuffed Palazzo Jean

I never knew the words "cuffed" and "palazzo" could fit in the same sentence, but Ann Taylor's made me a believer. These jeans take business casual to the next level because of their darker wash and overall fit. They're not too "skinny" or "wide," giving you the perfect invitation to wear a slightly oversized blazer with them. At least that's what I do.

Talbots

Talbots Everyday Relaxed Jeans (Plus-Sized Petite)

I'm not necessarily plus-sized but I added these relaxed jeans because one of my friends can't stop raving about them! She doesn't necessarily love the wide-leg look so having something that fits her frame and is easy to style works with however she feels like dressing on any given day.

Citizens of Humanity

Citizens of Humanity Petite Micro Relaxed Jeans

Are they relaxed or barrel jeans? It truly depends on how you want to classify them. According to Citizens of Humanity, they're the petite jeans everyone needs in their closet. Okay, I'm imagining that was the general consensus when they were designed.

Anthropologie

Pilcro Kenna Mid-Rise Barrel Jeans

These are definitely barrel jeans and I love them! I tried a pair from a different brand last year and couldn't stand the way they looked on me, but Pilcro gets it right! The wash also has a very earthy tone to it, making it a good complement to brown, taupe, and cream tones!

Reiss

Reiss Petite Skinny Jeans

Did you think I'd really leave skinny jeans off this list? I'm appalled! Jokes aside, I'm not against wearing them and found that I have specific requirements for the leg huggers. They have to look streamlined and can't make me feel like I have to peel them off my skin so I can breathe. It just so happens this pair understands the assignment.

L'AGENCE

L'AGENCE Leighton Cropped Stovepipe Jeans

What has cute red seams with a cuffed and cropped hem? L'AGENCE's pair of stovepipe jeans. They make me feel like I'm reliving the pair Olivia Newton-John wore in the original Grease so I try to slip into them when I'm feeling a little edgy.

P.S. Do you see the the slightly curved waistline??

I've been floating in the pop cultural abyss because I was clueless about how amazing Netflix's latest comedy Survival of the Thickest is! I just finished Season 2 and it's the funniest and rawest TV series I've watched since being persuaded to binge The White Lotus. But, that's not the show it actually reminds me of.

No, Survival of the Thickest feels like Insecure and And Just Like That had a comedic baby we get to watch grow in real time. There's the familiar supportive friend group, burgeoning careers, and passionate love stories that make you want to call your bestie to complain or scream in excitement.

I genuinely can't stop watching it and can't wait to share why you should be watching it too!

Scroll to learn everything about Survival of the Thickest and why you should watch it this week!

What is 'Survival of the Thickest' about?

Vanessa Clifton/Netflix

What happens when you face the worst breakup ever? You cry and find a way to revamp your life, according to Mavis from Survival of the Thickest.

The series revolves around her getting acclimated with being single again while juggling her floundering stylist career. She's got a supportive village, but that doesn't mean she's not prone to making mistakes or facing situations worth cackling about outside of her group chat.

Where does filming take place?

The show is primarily filmed in New York, but parts of Season 2 take place in Italy (via IMDB)!

Who's a part of the cast?

Vanessa Clifton/Netflix

Survival of the Thickest has a sprawling cast that features some new and familiar faces. According to Marie Claire, here are the main characters who've appeared in Seasons 1 and 2:

1. Michelle Buteau as Mavis Beaumont

Vanessa Clifton/Netflix

Mavis Beaumont may have started off as a heartbroken stylist's assistant in Season 1 of Survival of the Thickest, but she's since gone on to build a name for herself in Season 2. She's also trying to figure out if she's going to stick with her new love interest Luca or go back to her familiar ex Jacque.

2. Taylor Selé as Jacque

Vanessa Clifton/Netflix

Jacque is a talented fashion photographer who seems to know what to say to uplift Mavis. Though he starts off saying and doing all the right things, Mavis catches him cheating on her and it leaves her devastated. Interestingly enough, Jacque appears to be remorseful over his huge transgression and tries to prove that he won't make the same mistake again.

3. Tasha Smith as Marley

Vanessa Clifton/Netflix

Marley's one of Mavis' no-nonsense besties who applies the same tenacity to her career as a finance executive. Her inspirational quips may come across as 'funny,' but she doesn't lie when she encourages those around her to move in excellence.

4. Tone Bell as Khalil

Vanessa Clifton/Netflix

Mavis is surrounded by even more love with the addition of the creative Khalil by her side. He has a softer approach than Marley, but he still wants the best for Mavis and has no problem helping redirect her when she's ready to throw pity parties. If only he could apply the same principles to his own love life...

5. Liza Treyger as Jade

Vanessa Clifton/Netflix

If you've ever had a roommate who triggered you at every turn, you probably had someone like Jade in your life. She's the kind of person who seems like she has good intentions, but always finds a way to do something that feels toxic. Whether it's ignoring boundaries or saying the wrong thing at the worst time, Jade's going to do it.

6. Garcelle Beauvais as Natasha Karina

Vanessa Clifton/Netflix

Garcelle Beauvais may have left The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but you can watch her break necks and hurt feelings in Season 2 of Survival of the Thickest. She plays former '90s supermodel Natasha Karina who becomes Mavis' client after an initial period of misunderstandings.

7. Anthony Michael Lopez as Bruce

Vanessa Clifton/Netflix

Bruce has been on a mission to be the best assistant to Natasha Karina for as long as he can remember, so he takes it personally when Mavis doesn't seem to understand her new client in the beginning. Though he warms up to her too, his Type-A personality still follows closely behind.

8. Marouane Zotti as Luca

Vanessa Clifton/Netflix

Luca's all about Mavis and that's the I like it. Not only is he eye candy, but he's got enough passion stored in his body that makes me feel he's the obvious choice for our love-worn protagonist. However, only time will tell if Mavis thinks she and him are endgame or not.

9. Peppermint as Herself

Vanessa Clifton/Netflix

Survival of the Thickest is all about making sure all voices, storylines and identities are championed. Having Peppermint as another close friend of Mavis rounds out her supportive village because she's big on bringing her fun-loving energy wherever she goes. And when Peppermint takes a brief break from performing to get married, Mavis is right there rooting for her.

10. Alecsys Proctor-Turner as Nala

Vanessa Clifton/Netflix

My, how the tables have turned! In Season 2 of Survival of the Thickest, Mavis gets her own assistant in the form of the fashion-obsessed Nala. Though she has moments where her naive nature shines through, she helps provide even more comedic relief and moments of clarity.
