3 Holographic DIYs to ’90s-ify Your Home

It’s no secret that the ’90s have been making a huge comeback in the last couple of years, but the latest ’90s resurgence that I’ve been digging has been the holographic vibes in the beauty realm. There’s something about an iridescent lip or holographic eyeshadow palette that really resonates with my futuristic unicorn life. I decided to translate some of these shimmery, cool trends into a home decor setting. Here are three simple DIYs to add some holographic flair to your home. Get ready to wow some guests!

Holographic Tray

Take your trays to a whole new level with an element of surprise that captivates the eye — an iridescent interior! I personally love the versatility of this tray, perfectly cute for serving food at parties or storing makeup and accessories. Let’s get started!

Materials and Tools:

Instructions:

  1. Measure out your tray to get the right dimensions for your vinyl interior.
  2. Cut your vinyl to the measured dimensions.
  3. Peel off the vinyl backing and adhere it to the inside of the tray.
  4. Once your vinyl is placed down, squeegee out the air bubbles! Remember to take off the protective covering on top as well.

First off, measure your tray to get the right dimensions for your vinyl interior.

Cut your vinyl to the measured dimensions. Feel free to tape down the vinyl to prevent it from shifting around.

Peel off the vinyl backing and adhere it to the inside of the tray.

Once your vinyl is placed down, squeegee out the air bubbles! Remember to take off the protective covering on top as well.

Pro Tip: If you don’t have a squeegee, you can use a credit card or thick plastic board to do the same job.

Ta-da! You’ve got yourself a very cute serving tray. Get ready to use it at your next girls’ night in.

Did someone say wine and movie night?

Holographic Coasters

For this DIY, I drew inspiration from LoveVividly’s really cool holographic coasters tutorial and decided to put my own spin to it. With some awesome car vinyl and a few quick slices, I was able to renovate some old coasters and make them shine. Who knew coasters could look so mesmerizing?!

Materials and Tools:

Instructions:

  1. Decide on your coaster designs, and start cutting out shapes! Feel free to mix and match patterns to form a unique set.
  2. Peel off the vinyl backing and carefully paste them onto the coasters. Remember to take off the protective covering on top as well!
  3. Place your favorite cups on top, and use at your next coffee get together.

Once you decide on your coaster designs, start cutting out shapes! Feel free to mix and match patterns to form a unique set.

Peel off the vinyl backing and carefully paste them onto the coasters. Remember to take off the protective covering on top as well!

Voilà! Get ready to bust out this adorable set for your next coffee rendezvous.

Catchall Dish

This catchall dish is a *must* for all your accessory needs. Who knew that nail polish could be such a magical material for DIY projects? It definitely adds an extra shimmer to the jewelry. Also, that giraffe figure just warms my heart with each glance.

Materials and Tools:

Instructions:

  1. Spray paint your giraffe. Let each side dry for 20-30 minutes.
  2. As your toy figure is drying, add three layers of the holographic nail polish to the edge your dish. Finish off with a protective layer of top coat.
  3. Time to paint your toy figure! Add around three coats of the nail polish and finish off with the top coat. Let it dry for around 30 minutes.
  4. To complete your jewelry dish, super glue the toy figure to the middle of the dish.

Grab a cardboard or tarp, and lay it down as a mat to spray paint your giraffe on. Remember to let each side dry for 20-30 minutes.

As your toy figure is drying, add some of the holographic nail polish to your dish. I taped off the edges and then turned on some soothing jams to line the outer rim with three layers of the nail polish. (I know; be patient!) Finish off with a protective layer of top coat.

Your toy figure should be dry now! Time to make its exterior sparkly with the holographic nail polish. Again, add around three coats of the nail polish and finish off with the top coat. Let it dry for around 30 minutes.

To complete your jewelry dish, super glue the toy figure to the middle of the dish.

Presto! Look at how majestic he is.

So shimmery…

I love hosting and making my guests feel at home. And living in a tourist destination (Sonoma wine country) means I get a lot of them — especially as the weather warms up. Over time, I’ve learned that creating a warm, welcoming space doesn’t have to mean stress or all-day prep. Guests only seem to notice a few key things, not whether you color-coded your bookshelf or spring cleaned your closets. Whether it’s a casual dinner party or an overnight stay, these simple steps make a big difference before guests arrive.

Here are six things you should always do before guests arrive.

Do a Quick Clutter Sweep

You don’t need to deep-clean — just focus on visible clutter. Clear off countertops, coffee tables, and entryways. Short on time? Just toss items into a basket and tuck them away in a closet.

Light a Candle Or Diffuse A Favorite Scent

Set the mood with a seasonal or favorite scent, like vanilla, amber, or something citrusy. It instantly makes your space feel warm and inviting. I like to put one in the guest bathroom too for a little surprise.

Have a little time? You can also simmer citrus and your favorite herbs on the stove.

You’ll Need:

  • Citrus slices like oranges, lemons, or limes
  • A few sprigs of fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)
  • 1–2 cinnamon sticks or whole cloves
  • A splash of vanilla extract

Steps:

  1. Slice your citrus thinly. Try a mix of orange and lemon for a bright, balanced scent.
  2. Fill a pot with water, about ¾ full.
  3. Add your ingredients to the water.
  4. Bring to a simmer over low heat. As the mixture warms, the scent will start to fill your space. (Keep an eye on the water level, and add more as it evaporates.)

Prep the Bathroom

Nothing makes guests feel more "ick" than a dirty or messy bathroom so prioritize this space. Wipe down the sink and toilet, put out a fresh hand towel, and make sure there’s enough toilet paper.

Set the Mood with Music or Lighting

I make sure to switch off all the overheads (not a fan of this harsh lighting) and turn on table lamps for a cozy vibe. Then cue up a Spotify "dinner party" playlist that matches the energy — something mellow and upbeat is usually a safe bet.

Add Thoughtful Touches

A long-distance friend of mine would always leave me a basket of toiletries for my overnight stays and it's something I always remember fondly. On their bedside table, you can leave them a pitcher of water, their favorite snacks, flowers or herbs, and/or a book or magazine. Little details make people feel instantly loved.

Take the Garbage Out

Nothing ruins the party vibe like a smelly garbage can. Empty it before anyone arrives, and consider adding a fresh liner with a drop of essential oil or baking soda to keep things smelling fresh and clean.

I've been waiting to see Wicked: Part 2 (officially titles Wicked: For Good) since long before the credits rolled on Elphaba's "Defying Gravity" in November of 2024. I was born for this! And not only have we gotten a brief glimpse at Cynthia Erivo's iconic Wicked Witch of the West look, we also just got a look at the new Wicked: For Good poster thanks to some folks at CinemaCon — and it shows off Elphaba and Glinda's (Ariana Grande) incredible costumes in the new movie.

Here's a breakdown of that Wicked: For Good poster from CinemaCon — and Cynthia Erivo & Ariana Grande's new Wicked costumes.

What's up with the Wicked 2 poster?

The first Wicked: For Good poster debuted in Las Vegas during CinemaCon, and attendees immediately clocked the new images upon arriving. After Wicked ended with Elphaba escaping the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum), Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh), and the Emerald City, and Glinda staying behind, it's no surprise that the first look at both these ladies features a huge chasm between them. Another X user also points out the two cliffs and the Wizard's castle between them form a W!

But my favorite detail about the Wicked 2 poster is Glinda and Elphaba's costumes. With her broom, her hat, and her coat, Elphaba looks more like the Wicked Witch of the West than ever before, while Glinda has swapped her all-pink wardrobe for a periwinkle gown.

I immediately clocked the color shift — especially since Glinda is working so closely with Madame Morrible now, and it totally feels like the clothing reflects just how much influence Glinda's allowing Madame Morrible to have over her. After all, the Emerald City might be green, but Shiz University is all blue (as are Madame Morrible's most iconic outfits).

What does "for good" mean in Wicked?

"For Good" is a song in Act 2 of Wicked (that we'll also hear in Wicked: For Good) about how Elphaba and Glinda have changed each other's lives forever — and, even though they say "who can say if I've been changed for the better?", I'd say that they way they affected each other's empathy, confidence, and kindness proves they really did change each other for the better.

What is Wicked: For Good going to be about?

Wicked: Part Two is going to pick up after the events of Part One: Elphaba is on the run (and being blamed for everything going wrong), Glinda has stayed behind and become the spokesperson for the Wizard, and the animals continue to lose their ability to speak. Meanwhile, Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) is determined to find Elphaba, and Nessarose (Marissa Bode) is increasingly infatuated with Boq (Ethan Slater).

When does Wicked: For Good come out?

Wicked: For Good is flying into theaters November 21, 2025.

Who's in the cast of Wicked: For Good?

The Wicked: For Good cast features all your favorite stars from the first movie:

  • Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba: an emerald-green young woman possessing remarkable magic.
  • Ariana Grande as Glinda: Elphaba's best friend who's morphed from popular girl to political spokesperson.
  • Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero: a dashing prince who refuses to believe the rumors about Elphaba.
  • Ethan Slater as Boq: a munchkin who's in love with Glinda.
  • Marissa Bode as Nessarose: Elphaba's little sister.
  • Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard of Oz: a man from our world who found himself in Oz.
  • Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible: Shiz University's sorcery professor.

Zendaya's got her plate full with an engagement to Tom Holland and starring in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, but she's still on a mission. Her latest project finds her embodying singer Veronica "Ronnie" Spector in A24's Be My Baby and it feels like the ideal role for her. It's true she's known for her acting and ethereal style (guided by Law Roach's watchful and genius eyes), but Zendaya also has a beautiful singing voice. In our honest (and unfiltered opinion), it's about time she's granted the opportunity to portray a legendary figure in the music industry.

What is the plot for 'Be My Baby?'

James Kriegsmann/Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images

Deadlinereports Be My Baby will cover Ronnie Spector's life as it specifically pertains to being with late producer Phil Spector. Harper's Bazaar also reports the film will show the formation of the Ronettes, their record deal at Phil Spector's Philles Records.

Though he was known for contributing to some of the greatest acts in music (the Ronettes and Ike & Tina Turner), Phil was still a problematic man who eventually committed a deathly crime (via The Independent). Before that, The Independent revealed Ronnie & Phil's marriage was the result of an affair that led to the singer having to run for her life after being held hostage in her own home.

Did Ronnie Spector pen a memoir that has the same name as the film?

Amazon

Yes! Ronnie Spector's memoir Be My Baby was released after her death and gives readers an inside look at being a member of the Ronettes, fame, and volatile moments in her relationship with producer Phil Spector. Though parts of her story will garner tears, Ronnie also details the highs of her career once she found her voice again.

Did Zendaya have to audition for the role of Ronnie Spector in 'Be My Baby?'

Mike Coppola/Getty Images for The Gotham Film & Media Institute,

According to Variety, Ronnie Spector selected Zendaya to play her in Be My Baby. The singer was also set to be an executive producer of the film before passing away in 2022 (via Deadline).

Her death garnered a heartfelt tribute on Zendaya's Instagram as the actress referred to her as "a magical force of greatness." She ended her lengthy caption with, "I hope to make you proud."

Who's the director and screenplay writer for 'Be My Baby?'

Filmmaker Barry Jenkins (Mufasa, If Beale Street Could Talk, and Moonlight) will direct Be My Baby while Dave Kajganich (Bones and All) is in charge of the film's screenplay.

Production hasn't started yet for Be My Baby, but we're looking forward to seeing Ronnie Spector's life told through Zendaya, Barry Jenkins, and Dave Kajganich's eyes.

I can't stop thinking about The White Lotus season finale this weekend — and whether the killer's been in front of our faces the whole time. And according to the White Lotus cast, there's a good chance no one will be able to stop talking about the ending...especially since one cast member thinks "people are going to hate Mike White" after it airs.

Here's what the cast had to say about The White Lotus finale for season 3 — and whether fans are going to "hate" creator Mike White when it's done.

'The White Lotus' cast is just as excited for the finale as we are.

Ahead of the White Lotus season 3 finale, and after all the drama of the last few episodes, creator Mike White, cast, and crew members spilled their guts to The Hollywood Reporter— including Patrick Schwarzenegger admitting he's "just excited to watch the finale with the rest of the world because I actually have no idea what happens."

While the biggest running theory is that one (or all) of the Ratliffs will die via poisonous fruit, actor Jon Gries promises that "whatever you think you know, you’re going to get it wrong." And according to Charlotte Le Bon, "people are going to hate Mike White" when the episode credits roll!

But even though it sounds like the finale will be pretty sad, Mike White says, "My hope is that it’ll feel like a cathartic sad or a satisfying sad and not a 'What the f—k?' sad, but people are going to have a million different opinions," he says. "You just hope you stick the landing."

And season 4 can't come soon enough.

As show creator, Mike White understands more than anyone what it feels like to get emotionally involved in The White Lotus. "To be honest, I’m a bit of a head case right now. I’m crying in my car," he tells THR. "This show is my whole life, then it’s over and I’m back in my house with my dog, trying to remember who my friends are and what did I do before the show."

"I don’t want to become one of those crazy people who’s lost the plot," he continues. "I had to take these MMPI psych tests, and they were like, 'You’ve become one standard deviation less nice than you were in 2018.' Yep, that sounds right."

Don't worry Mike. Considering The White Lotus season 4 is on its way, I'm confident you couldn't lose the plot even if you tried.

What time is The White Lotus finale?

The White Lotus season 3 finale airs on Sunday, April 6 at 9 PM EST.

How long is White Lotus finale season 3?

Fabio Lovino/HBO
