29 Retro Dresses Inspired by ’60s Fashion

Listen up, ladies! Styles from the 1960s are coming back, and we’re so pumped. Sure, this means that the beloved loose-fitting trends of summer might soon be over, but we’re more than happy to incorporate some well-tailored dresses, oversized buttons and graphic prints into our wardrobe. Channel your inner Jackie, Audrey or Twiggy with these 29 groovy dresses.

1. Tally Swing Dress ($178): As we just mentioned, the ’60s were all about rocking graphic prints. This swing dress definitely fits the bill.

2. Midi Skater Dress in Botanical Print ($58): Rule of thumb — if you can imagine Christina Hendricks’ Mad Men character Joan Harris in it, it’s part of the trend. Joan is a fan of tight-fitted bodices and big, poofy skirts, as are we!

3. Woven Metal Long Sleeve Dress ($108): More graphic prints? Count us in. This long sleeved dress doesn’t even need jewelry; the print itself is bold enough.

4. Curve Swing Dress With Collar + Embellishment ($105): The ’60s were a particularly funny time in fashion because of the wide spectrum of trends. While we did mention tighter-fitting dresses earlier, loose-fitting swing and shift dresses like this one were considered fashionable as well.

5. Flower Print Dress ($36): This is the perfect transitional piece between two seasons. The tropical print appeals to our summer wardrobes, while the extremely structured silhouette will take us into fall.

6. A-Line Shift Dress ($54): Another shift dress? Check! The nice thing about this neutral shade is that you can style it so many different ways. We’d wear it to a fancier event (perhaps a wedding?) with a bling-tastic necklace.

7. Joni Dress ($75): It’ll soon be back to school for the kiddies, as well as for your wardrobe. This schoolgirl-inspired pick looks gorgeous with those bold lips.

8. Wiggle Dress in Pastel Floral Print ($96): This dress is completely vintage, from the neckline to the print to the sleeve length. The one thing us modern gals might appreciate most about it, however, is the fact that it has pockets. Hurrah!

9. First Kiss Dress ($50): A dress adorned with lips may have been a bit scandalous back in the ’60s, but it’s safe to say it rules nowadays. That old-school Peter Pan collar really ties the whole look together.

10. Sheer Panel Dress ($86): Speaking of Peter Pan collars, we’re loving the ruffled edges on this one. The sheer paneling brings the straight-cut dress to this century.

11. Ravine Flared Dress ($298): This silhouette is so typical of formalwear during the ’60s, and we can’t get enough of it. This stunningly deep shade of navy blue makes it the perfect choice for a fancy dinner party.

12. Curve Midi Dress in Wallpaper Print ($67): You may be wondering what makes this so retro, and you’d be mostly right. We included this one for its awesome wallpaper print and to show y’all just how much the ’60s shift silhouette has changed over time. Cool, right?

13. The Mod Life Dress ($75): Not only is the shape of this dress old-timey, but its print is made up of vintage things, from go-go boots to radios.

14. Midi Skater Dress in Check ($105): This print is so Mad Men we can hardly stand it. We’d love to see it worn for an engagement photo shoot. Send us pics if you wear it!

15. Kaste Tunic ($248): That short collar, the dress’ silhouette, the graphic print… This is basically the perfect picture of fashion during the Golden Age.

16. Plus Off-the-Shoulder Pencil Dress ($115): Joan would definitely approve of this curve-hugging pencil dress as well. Va va voom!

17. Just the Right Touch Dress ($32): Pearl embellishments are so simple and classy. We’d add a little bit of color to the outfit with some bright pumps and red lipstick.

18. ’60s Shift Dress in Rib Texture ($54): This may just look like a plain red dress from far away, but the closer you get, the more you can see its cool texture. We think every woman should own a LRD (little red dress)… they’re just so versatile.

19. Sunpane Dress ($328): It might almost be fall, but it’s still pretty hot in some parts of the country. Cool off in this strappy checked dress!

20. Dress With Bell Sleeves ($36): Oh my goodness, those bell sleeves just make us want to do the Mashed Potato. Or just dance on The Corny Collins Show.

21. Curve Midi Skater Dress in Color Block ($54): Color blocking may seem like a modern trend, but it was pretty big way back then. We’ve been indulging in quite a bit of monochromatic fashion recently, probably because of its timeless quality.

22. Retro Lace Dress ($17): There’s just something about this dress that gives it that vintage look, but we can’t seem to place it. Regardless, it’s adorable and is a great way to bring spring and summer colors to your fall closet.

23. Retro Dress With Raglan Shoulders ($58): We know The Brady Bunch took place during the ’70s, but a lot of their clothing was inspired by the previous decade. Can’t you see Marcia Brady doing her fabulous thumb dance in this?

24. Viscose Jersey Dress in ’60s Shape ($41): Seriously, these ’60s gals loved their fitted dresses. This one in particular features a stylish drop waist as well as an overall neutral shade. There are so many accessories that could be worn with this one.

25. Aptos Dress ($298): We have a big crush on this dress. Everything about it rocks, from the unique neckline to the fun geometric print.

26. Lavendel Dress ($228): We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again — polka dots and floral prints just get each other. This strapless dress is so very Zooey Deschanel, and so very you.

27. Petite Smock Dress With Dropped Waist ($18): Another drop waist frock? Hells to the yeah!

28. Straight Cut Dress With Side Zip ($26): The orangey yellow hue of this dress is so ’60s we can barely contain our excitement.

29. Milano Color Block ’60s Dress ($282): You know how obsessed all women are with having pockets? This dress comes with four.

Are you as psyched about this retro trend as we are? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

This article has been updated from a previous post.

You'd think someone with acne-prone skin wouldn't buy viral beauty finds without doing thorough research, but I'm not above trying to recreate all the latest makeup trends at home. All this did was remind me that everything isn't for everyone — and that's okay! Well...it's not okay I fee like I wasted money, but at least I know what to stay away from. And now I'm here to help you figure out what to avoid as well!

Even though this products didn't work for me, that doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't use them. These are just my least faves of the year — take 'em or leave 'em!

Here are all the overrated beauty finds I wish I wouldn't have bought

Amazon

1. MILK Hydro Grip Primer

I should've known better than to buy this again, but I wanted to see if my skin would react better to it. The first time I tried to use this, I broke out along my jaws in tiny, red bumps. They were itchy and eventually turned into dark spots that took me over a year to get rid of.

Instead of letting that be the red flag that kept me away from this beauty find, I decided to use it in place of my trusted e.l.f. Cosmetics Power Grip Primer I've been relying on. Two things happened:

  1. It created a beautiful base for my makeup.
  2. I didn't break out, but my faced still felt itchy.

I even switched my makeup brushes and checked to make sure other makeup products weren't expired. The culprit continued to be this primer so it's made it to my overrated list.

Amazon

2. KORA Organics Kakadu Plum Vitamin C Serum

I was initially sent this to test, but I decided to buy it myself to see if I truly like it. While it was easy to add to my skincare routine lineup, I realized I actually didn't need to spend $70+ for an effective Vitamin C serum. The only difference between this serum and the one I truly love are their colors and textures.

This one has a slightly yellowish-orange tint to it while being a little thicker compared to the Timeless Skin Care Vitamin C serum I use. The latter is thinner and 100% transparent, plus the odor is slightly stronger. However, both of them aid in smoother skin, smaller pores, and a healthy glow.

I honestly wouldn't buy this one again just because I can get the same benefits for a lesser price.

Amazon

3.NYX Cosmetics Fat Oil Lip Drip

This is a controversial take, but I honestly didn't love the NYX Fat Oil Lip Drip. Although I love the color payoff, it was too sticky for my liking. I saw reviews that mentioned this, but I've purchased lip glosses other people didn't love that worked for me in the past. However, the reviews are telling the truth: the stickiness takes away from what could've been a great formula.

I'll just stick to my Tower 28 Lip Softie Hydrating Lip Treatment in Ube Vanilla!

Amazon

4. L'Oréal Voluminous Panorama Washable Mascara

I know people love this beauty find because it is great. I just didn't think the hype was enough to convince me to buy it again because my essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara gets the job done for $5. I will say I love the washable feature of L'Oréal's version, but it's still not enough to make me willingly spend over $10 for it.

As great of a product as this is, it's overrated to me because of the price tag.

Sephora

5. Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation

Sigh...it's so hard for me to admit this, but this Haus Labs foundation has become my most overrated beauty find of 2024. It's not that it doesn't work for a few hours, but my skin prefers tinted moisturizers more than anything. I talked about it briefly on TikTok, but skin tints feel like you're not wearing anything on your face.

I'm always really oily after wearing this foundation for a few hours, but I can get extended wear out of the Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Tint I've been wearing. I like to think it's because it has vegan collagen, ceramides, and cactus extract in it whereas this foundation has ingredients like fermented arnica in it.

Both do a great job of calming inflammation, but something about this foundation makes my skin think it's incredibly dry.

The 70's are calling, and you’ll want to pick up. It seems like everywhere I turn these days, 70's-era trends are popping up. From the TV adaptation of Daisy Jones & The Six to the Jonas Brothers’ upcoming The Album release, retro inspiration is infiltrating everything from fashion and music to, yes – interior design.

Call it a comeback: disco balls are everywhere, and have quickly become a must-have home decor staple. And what’s not to love about them? The party balls evoke feelings of a good time and, now that sun is streaming in strong, the mirrored tiles instantly send a confetti of light dancing across the room.

While we love the look of a classic disco ball, there are now so many unique ways to dial into the disco trend. Check out some disco decor that goes beyond the ball below!

Uncommon Goods Disco Ball Hanging Planter ($50)

My friend has this planter hanging in her apartment, and let’s just say I have serious planter-envy. Ideal for plants who love lots of direct sunlight – looking at you, succulents – this disco ball can be dangled in any window to send confetti light across the entire room.

Sofiest Designs Disco Mushroom ($90-150)

Cottagecore meets funky town with these mirrored mushrooms. Available in small and medium sizes, these shiny shrooms add a dash of disco to your desk, dresser, or bookshelf.

Lady Moon Co. Mini Disco Ball Piñatas Set Of 3 ($16)

What’s funkier than some fringe? Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, planning a bachelorette party, or simply embracing an extra-festive Friday, these metallic mini disco ball piñatas, which come in sets of 3, add immediate fun to any celebration.

Sofiest Designs Disco Martini Glass ($160)

Hand-tiled in San Diego, CA, this decorative mirrored martini glass would sit beautifully on any bar cart (bonus points if the bar cart has a glass base for extra reflection). Now, will that be shaken or stirred?

Sofiest Designs Disco Margarita Glass ($160)

Trade your olives for limes, and get ready to disco the night away with this decorative mirrored margarita glass, the sister of the Disco Martini Glass.

Sofiest Designs Disco UFO ($160)

Disco has definitely descended to earth with this mirrored UFO. Land this piece on top of your coffee table and watch specks of light fly across the room like a shooting star across the night sky!

Wavy Disco Mirror ($350)

Get ready for the funkiest 'fit checks of your life. This mirror is handmade in the U.S. and is light enough to be either hung on the wall or placed on any countertop or shelf. Reflecting light off of itself, this mirror will brighten up any room and, let’s face it, when your mirror is a disco ball, you can’t help but boogie.

Silver Disco Bear ($150)

Your favorite stuffed animal just went glam. The Disco Bear also comes with a 20-inch chain for hanging purposes. How cute would this look dangling from your car mirror – disco-on-the-go anyone?

Studio McGee has spent the last decade inspiring us with a blend of accessible and elevated designs, creating beautiful and totally livable spaces. In her 2025 Home Decor Trends report, Shea McGee emphasizes that home decor trends evolve gradually over time, and I couldn’t agree more. Unlike the fast-paced world of fashion, where trends shift every season, these design moves develop organically over time, and that's good for your wallet and taking your time to create a space you love. Get inspired to refresh your home in 2025 with a few new accents, from embellishments like fringe to maybe a little western or seaside art.

Here are Studio McGee's 2025 Home Decor Trend Predictions, with a few surprises!

Romantic Silhouettes

Take Romantic Silhouettes, for example. This is a trend we've seen steadily gain traction over the past few years. Think curvy furniture, delicate floral prints, and soft blush hues — when curated thoughtfully, these elements can become timeless staples in your home.

Western Cowboy

This is a design trend that totally surprised me, but I'm so happy to see it in the mix. Elements like leather furniture, rustic accessories, equestrian art, even wood walls, shown in this office designed by A1000XBetter, are making an impact in 2025 and beyond. But Shea notes that you can take this trend literally or just be inspired by the look. You can also mix it with other styles to personalize it for you. Add romantic pillows or ruffled tablecloths like McGee & Co. x Loeffler Randall Gardenia Ruffle Border Tablecloth – things you love that make it yours vs. based solely on one trend.

Saturated Colors

Shea predicts that rich hues like deep browns, oxblood red, and earthy greens will continue to dominate home decor colors going into 2025. House of Rolison's bathroom brown is an excellent example of this beautiful trend.

Pattern Drenching

Embracing a single pattern and drenching an entire room in it — from walls to pillows, headboards, and curtains — is a surprise trend for 2025. This maximalist approach, which has been quietly gaining traction, draws inspiration from Arts and Crafts designers like William Morris and has been in and out of vogue since the Victorian era.

McGee & Co.

Embellishments

This is a trend you can easily DIY to add an extra layer of charm to your decor. Think playful details like fringe accents —beautifully shown in McGee & Co.'s Philippa Settee — along with tassels, pleats, ruffles, and rope. It’s all about embracing texture and whimsy, so have fun with it!

Seaside Inspiration

Coastal decor has long been an influence in design and you can be inspired by it in many forms, from shell accents to beach-inspired artwork like McGee & Co.'s Distant Coastline art to textured seagrass baskets and jute rugs. Even the soothing hues of the sea — think soft blues, sandy neutrals, and gentle greens — can inspire your 2025 spaces.
