Twenty 90's Couple Costumes That Pay Homage to the Decade

Oh, the '90s. A decade filled with power couples like J. Lo and Puff Daddy, Brad and Gwyneth and… Wayne and Garth. For this batch of Halloween inspiration, we're turning to angst and flannel, with a little bit of glitter mixed in for good measure. To go for a complete list of '90s couple costumes inspiration, we have to admit that we turned to a few moments from the late '80s as well as the very, very early aughts. You wouldn't love us unless we took a creative approach, right? ;)

Dylan and Brenda from 90210

Dylan and Brenda from 90210
We had to serve up the side by side for this one — that strapless dress with giant white bow and white gloves is just too good. In true 90210 fashion, this is definitely one of the more angsty, volatile couples of the ’90s. We debated on whether or not to include a Dylan and Kelly option on this list ;) (via I Am Not a Stalker)

Wayne and Garth 90's Couple Costume Idea

Can you say…. schwiiiing? Leave it to Brit + Co editor Kate Puhala to make dressing up as Wayne Campbell actually look chic. The underbite-based smile that Garth is sporting really seals the deal. (via Brit + Co)

Pacman and Ms. Pacman

What did we tell you about reaching a little further back in time beyond the ’90s? The truth is, as kids of the ’90s Pacman was actually a pretty sizable part of the decade for some of us. (via Julie Ann Art)

Doritos

Although Doritos technically came into existence in 1964, they went through a serious makeover in 1994 when Frito-Lay spent $50 million to redesign Doritos to make the chips 20 percent larger, 15 percent thinner and with rounded edges. Like many of us, the ’90s represented a renaissance and new beginning for Doritos, and WAY MORE FLAVOR! (via Smilebooth)

The Bundys

The shoe salesman and the crimson-haired bombshell were the ’90s answer to Lucy and Ricky, and we loved their love-hate relationship. (via On The Blog Bandwagon)

Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski

When it comes to the perfect high school couple, kids of the ’90s can always turn to Zack and Kelly. Even when that weird adult played by Patrick Muldoon came onto the scene, Zack was there to make things right with Kell. This costume is all about the giant cell phone and chipper cheerleader attitude — and how much the Zach on the right looks like the OG. (via Coolest Homemade Costumes + For the Love of Prep)

The Mask

Whoa. When is the last time you thought about the movie The Mask? Like… not since 1994, right? (via Buzzfeed)

Twins

Journey with us back to 1988, when a world accepted the idea that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito could be… twins? Wait, WHAT? Khakis, penny loafers (or moccasins) and matching blazers make this look, but it’s those ’80s patterned short sleeve button downs on the inside that take it to the next level. Of course, I might be biased… I happen to be playing the role of Danny DeVito in this costume ;) (via Brit + Co)

Princess Bride

Okay okay, you are totally about to call us out for dipping too far into the ’80s here, but the Princess Bride was actually a crucial part of my ’90s upbringing. And if you were born in the ’80s or early ’90s, I know you agree. (via Brit + Co)

Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears

If you average the ’80s items with this early ’00s number, you end up with the ’90s. And how could we not include Justin and Britney, especially when portrayed by Sean Parker and his wife. (via Daily Mail)

Beetlejuice Couple

11. Beetlejuice Couple: Technically this came out in 1988, but you get that we’re being flexible with the decade at this point. Eyeballs and serious DIY mask-making skills are required for this monster version of the couple stuck in the attic in one of our favorite spooky flicks.

Patti Mayonnaise and Doug Funny

These two = YES. And is it weird that we would rock that polka dot sweater on the reg? (via SheKnows and Pinterest)

Forrest Gump and Lieutenant Dan

We’ve got another Brit + Co couple for this one, and this time it’s culinary rockstar Sarah Jones channeling her inner Gary Sinise. #runforrestrun (via Brit + Co)

Mulder and Scully

X-files fanatic? Or just want to rock a ginger wig for the night? Then this pairing has you and your boo written all over it. (via Perhapablog)

Angela Chase and Jordan Catalano

We’ve featured this costume of Kate and her bf before and we’ll feature it time and time again. These two star-crossed lovers represented teenage angst, dyed hair and flannel flawlessly. (via Brit + Co)

Axl and Slash 90's Couple Costume Idea

16. Axl and Slash: Confession: The author of this article is now also playing Slash. Welcome to the jungle, baby!

Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love

Whether the dog represents Frances Bean is still TBD, but this is one of our all-time favorite costumes. And guess what? It was actually one of the entries to our costume contest way back in 2012! #tbt? :)

Jack and Sally from a Nightmare Before Christmas

This costume will have you in stitches? Sorry, we had to. (via Jesse Draper on Flickr)

Double Dare Contestants

OMG. How perfect is this? Especially if you rig your helmets so that they double as beer holders. (via Buzzfeed)

Dumb and Dumber

We'll end with one of our favorite couples costumes ever — Lloyd and Harry from the original Dumb and Dumber. Those suits will make you smile for days. (via Brit + Co)

If you're a 90s movies (and horror movies) lover, you might agree that nothing beats an old school slasher. And just like the original, the new I Know What You Did Last Summer features some of the hottest names in Hollywood.

Everything you need to know about the new I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel movie, coming to theaters July 18, 2025.

This is definitely not a relaxing summer vacation. For instance, Madelyn Cline's guided meditation bubble bath distracting her from the fact her boyfriend's getting murdered by a harpoon & hook? Yikes. Yes, a brand new I Know What You Did Last Summer is coming to theaters this summer. But just because it's a new film doesn't mean it won't have plenty of nostalgia.

"There's lots of '90s in there, so get excited because the '90s are back again!" Jennifer Love Hewitt, who's returning for the movie, told People. "And there's lots of twists and turns. I don't think people are going to expect anything that's coming. It's a really fun ride."

"We approached it like super fans, so I think people are going to be really happy," writer-director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson added. "All the things that you want to see in this movie, you're going to see in this movie."

Who's in the 'And Just Like That' season 3 cast?

Max

For starters, the main cast members, Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda, and Kristin Davis as Charlotte, are all definitely making a comeback. Other returning cast members include Sarita Choudhury as Seema, Nicole Ari Parker as Lisa, and John Corbett as Aidan.

There will be some departures, too. Most notably, Sara Ramirez, who portrayed comedian Chez Diaz, and Karen Pittman, who took on the role of Professor Nya Wallace. But don't worry, because there will be two new exciting faces showing up on your screen.

First is Patti Lupone, the Tony award-winning actress and singer. According to Michael Patrick King, she will "have a story arc" in Season 3. Next is comedian Rosie O'Donnell, whose character is named Mary. It's unclear how many episodes Rosie will be appearing in, but back in May, she shared a photo on Instagram of the script for one episode entitled "Outlook Good."

Fans can look forward to seeing additional newcomers like Cheri Oteri, Jonathan Cake, Mehcad Brooks, Kristen Schaal, and Logan Marshall-Green.

Now, to answer the most long-awaited question: sadly, Kim Cattrall, who played the iconic Samantha Jones, will not be showing up in the third season. Fans might've gotten their hopes up after she returned for one scene during the Season 2 finale, but she's confirmed that she won't be appearing in the latest season.

Thanks to the eternal popularity of Gilmore Girls, we all know mother-daughter shows are some of the best around. And if you ask me, Ginny and Georgia are totally the next Rory and Lorelai. If you're looking for a new series to binge while getting cozy this winter, then look no further than Ginny & Georgia. It's got intrigue, it's got romance, it's got drama — which is exactly why it's one of the Netflix shows you should binge on a break!

Keep reading for everything you need to know about Ginny & Georgia season 3.

When does season 3 of Ginny & Georgia come out?

Brooke Palmer/Netflix

You can stream Ginny & Georgia on Netflix starting June 5, 2025.

What is Ginny & Georgia season 3 about?

Netflix

Ginny & Georgia follows the titular mother-daughter duo (plus Ginny's little brother Austin) who move from Texas to Wellsbury, Massachusetts after the death of Georgia's husband. But while a new town, a new school, and new friends can be complicated on their own, things get even messier in season 2 when Ginny discovers her step-dad's death wasn't an accident.

And at the end of season 2, Georgia's arrested for murder in the middle of her wedding reception. This was "always the plan," according to creator Sarah Lampert. "How we pitched season 1 and then how we ended our pitch of season 2 was, 'Then Georgia's married to Paul, they're having their first dance, and she's arrested for murder,'" she told People in January 2023.

"I'm blown away that the writers are still able to show us completely new sides of each character, and that's what you're going to see in season 3," actress Brianne Howey says. "You will see a lot of grit and hustle, but in an entirely new way. Georgia has to dig deeper into a part of herself we haven't seen yet. So, she has to use that grit in all new ways."

Who's in the cast?

Netflix

Ginny & Georgia stars Brianne Howey as Georgia Miller, Antonia Gentry as Ginny Miller, Diesel La Torraca as Austin Miller, Jennifer Robertson as Ellen Baker, Felix Mallard as Marcus Baker, Sara Waisglass as Max Baker, Scott Porter as Paul Randolph, and Raymond Ablack as Joe.

How old was Georgia when she had Ginny?

Amanda Matlovich/Netflix

Georgia was 15 years old when she gave birth to Ginny. This is another detail that reminds us of Gilmore Girls since Lorelai was 16 when she had Rory!

Where can I watch Ginny & Georgia?

Netflix

Ginny & Georgia season 3 is premiering June 5, 2025 on Netflix, which is where you can stream all 20 episodes of the show (10 in season one and 10 in season two). It's safe to assume that Ginny & Georgia season 3 will also have 10 episodes.

Teen shows from the '90s and 2000s were once cornerstones of our youth. We all raced home from school to catch 4:00 P.M. specials or tried to get all our homework done for whatever new episode was airing in the coveted 8:00 P.M. slot.

But while we fell in love with some classic characters and storylines, there are certain teen shows that are undeniably cringeworthy today. From problematic themes to outdated stereotypes and tropes, here are 10 that simply haven't stood the test of time.

Scroll to see all the classic teen shows that actually aged pretty poorly...

ABC

1. Pretty Little Liars

One of the most controversial aspects of Pretty Little Liars is the relationship between high schooler Aria Montgomery, played by Lucy Hale, and Ezra Fitz, depicted by Ian Harding.

The pair's romance is the heart of the show, but their relationship would raise a lot of eyebrows today, considering Ezra is Aria's teacher, and she's a minor. Pretty Little Liars also glosses over the power imbalance, ethical issues, and the fact that a teacher dating a student is illegal.

Nowadays, a teen show featuring such an inappropriate relationship wouldn't fly for anyone.

NBC

2. Saved by the Bell

While Saved by the Bell continues to be a beloved '90s sitcom, it still has plenty of cringeworthy moments. Arguably, the worst incident occurs in Season 1 Episode 2, when Lisa Turtle exceeds her father's credit card limit.

This pushes Zack Morris to come up with an idea to help Lisa pay off the debt: she could charge boys $1 to kiss her without consent. He even gave the scheme a name, "Losing their Lisa cards."

Somewhat similar to Pretty Little Liars, this plot line disregarded consent. We can probably all agree that joking about ignoring women's autonomy wasn't humorous then and still isn't funny now.

Warner Bros.

3. Smallville

Smallville, which is based on a young Clark Kent grappling with his newfound superpowers, had a lot of bizarre storylines. Nonetheless, Season 1 Episode 7 definitely took the cake.

It featured Jodi Melville, an overweight teen classmate of Clark's, who uses a kryptonite-infused detox juice in order to lose weight. Things take a turn when the juice boosts her metabolism so much that she craves human fat.

The episode took extremely sensitive issues, like body image and the pressures of losing weight, and transformed them into a horror trope instead of giving viewers a nuanced take on eating disorders. It sensationalized Jodi's struggles and added a level of cruelty to an already vulnerable topic for teenagers.

90210 Productions

4. Beverly Hills, 90210

To be fair, Beverly Hills, 90210 was actually known for tackling taboo subject matters, such as racism, substance abuse, and domestic violence, which were typically overlooked by mainstream media.

Even so, one specific episode dealing with gun control is still highly controversial today and has even been ripped from streaming platforms. During Season 2, Episode 14, West Beverly High students open up a time capsule. Then, the character Scott Scanlon accidentally shoots himself with his father's gun in front of a friend.

In the wake of today's ongoing problems with gun access and school violence, the storyline is unsettling and lacks the depth to address such complex topics.

Warner Bros.

5. Gilmore Girls

Oh, where to begin with Gilmore Girls. Even though this show ended in 2007, it remains extremely popular among both old and new fans. Still, it's also packed with tons of representation and diversity issues.

First of all, the cast is predominantly white, and the sole Black character, Michel Gerard, is relegated to a one-dimensional role as a sarcastic and snobby concierge. Then, there's Lane's mother, Mrs. Kim, whose character is based on the stereotypes of Asian mothers being overly strict and traditional.

Throw in Emily Gilmore's blatant mistreatment of her household staff, and it's clear that genuine representations of race are lacking.

This show brought together some of our favorite actors like Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop, and more!

The CW

6. One Tree Hill

Moving on to One Tree Hill, this show has come under fire for its portrayal of women, who are often pitted against each other. The female characters are thrown into emotional turmoil, especially when it comes to romantic conflicts. And despite the potential for character growth, they get into catfights and more drama again.

Meanwhile, the men are able to move past issues with something as simple as a fist bump. The unequal approach to gender dynamics paints women as irrational and emotionally unstable, which just isn't valid.

One Tree Hillstarred teen drama faves like Chad Michael Murray, Sophia Bush, Bethany Joy Lenz, and Hilarie Burton.

The CW

7. Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl gave all of us everyday teens a glimpse into the (supposed) lives of Manhattan's wealthiest and most scandalous teenagers. Despite the premise being undeniably intriguing, the show featured a lot of debauchery that still shocks parents today.

One of the most problematic characters is probably Chuck Bass, who treats women like objects. Yet, his actions are written off or even accepted since he's rich. There's also the subplot of teenage Nate having an affair with an adult (and married) duchess. Just these two examples alone wouldn't work on screen in 2025, especially in a show targeted at adolescents.

This starred your all your faves, including Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen, and Ed Westwick!

MTV

8. Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County

Finally, Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County captured the glamorous lives of Southern California teenagers. In the process, it frequently depicted casual underage drinking, which doesn't send a good message to impressionable viewers.

Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County promoted the idea that alcohol has to be involved in order to have some real fun. With more awareness around the risks of underage drinking today, that much partying couldn't be so romanticized.

This series gave us the icons that are Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari!
