Add a Pop of Gold to Easter With These DIY Kintsugi-Inspired Eggs

Have you ever heard of the Japanese art of kintsugi? It’s a traditional method of mending broken pottery and ceramics with gold — instead of throwing away or disguising the broken piece, kintsugi highlights the imperfections. I’ve started to see the technique pop up more and more lately, and love not only the look but the idea of embracing the imperfect. With Easter coming up, I couldn’t help but try my hand at decorating eggs in a kintsugi-inspired style.

Kintsuge Easter Eggs

Materials and Tools:

  • hard-boiled eggs
  • Easter egg dye (mixed, in cups)
  • pencil
  • gold nail polish or paint (use edible gold paint, if you plan to eat the eggs)

Instructions:

  1. Dye your hard-boiled eggs in solid colors and let dry.
  2. Use a pencil to draw jagged crack lines all over the egg.
  3. Go over the lines with gold nail polish or paint, using a toothpick to apply finer lines if you wish. (Use edible gold paint, if you plan to eat the eggs.) Let dry completely.

Dye your hard-boiled eggs in solid colors and let dry. You could also try painting the eggs instead, or painting a subtle pattern onto the egg.

Use a pencil to draw jagged crack lines all over the egg. Do an image search for “kintsugi” for reference.

A little bit of gold goes a long way, don’t you think?

While the thrill of waking up on Easter and searching for colorful eggs might feel timeless as a kid, the annual tradition can start to become a little predictable as time goes on (and your children get older).

So, if you want to shake things up this year, skip the same old routine and surprise your family with twists they won't see coming. Here are some creative Easter egg hunt ideas that will make the holiday extra memorable and keep everyone more engaged.

Scroll to see the unique Easter egg hunt ideas you need to try in 2025!

1. "ABCs" Egg Hunt

Dre Dawkcide

First, if you have younger ones, you can turn your Easter egg hunt into a learning experience with an added playful challenge. All you have to do is hide 26 eggs, each of which is labeled with a different letter.

Then, give your kiddo a checklist to mark off each letter as they find it. Not only will this activity help you actually remember how many eggs you hide this year, but it'll reinforce letter recognition in a fun, hands-on way. As an extra bonus, you can even tuck a small prize inside the eggs to match their corresponding letters!

2. Color-Coded Egg Hunt

Eren Li

Now, if you have multiple children who battle to find all the Easter eggs each year, then you know that things can get chaotic and tense. To say goodbye to sibling squabbles, simply assign each kid a specific egg color and matching basket.

If you have two sons, for instance, hide 20 green eggs and 20 blue eggs. They'll know exactly which eggs to search for, and everything will be kept fair since they'll each get to find the same number.

3. Glow In The Dark Hunt

alleksana

There's obviously more to Easter than just the fun of egg-hunting. Nonetheless, for kids, it's often the most looked-forward-to portion of the day, and once it's over, it can be hard to keep them entertained or invested in the celebration.

But with a glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunt, you can delay that! Just wait until the sun goes down to host a nighttime version of the tradition with the help of glow-in-the-dark paint or glow sticks inside plastic eggs. Your children will be looking forward to it all day (and probably stay on their best behavior as they wait to participate).

4. Advent Calendar Hunt

Jill Wellington

To extend the Easter fun even further, remember that you don't have to limit the festivities to just one day. Instead, spread the joy out with an Easter-themed countdown hunt!

Every day during the week leading up to Easter, hide one egg or goody bag that's filled with treats or tiny surprises. It will build anticipation in an adorable way that gets your kiddos super excited.

5. Traditional Egg Hunt: Simon Says Edition

Eren Li

Growing up, your family might've always put little chocolates or coins inside your Easter eggs. To infuse the tradition with some more action, consider including "Simon Says" and call it "Easter Bunny Says!"

Just place a piece of paper inside each egg that contains a fun instruction, such as "hop like a bunny" or "spin in a circle three times." It's a great way to keep the giggles going and expel some extra energy before the sugar craze hits.

6. Scavenger Hunt

RDNE Stock project

For older kids (or even adults), take your Easter egg hunt up a notch by turning it into a scavenger hunt. Depending on where you're planning the hunt, like inside your home or in the backyard, come up with clues and riddles that correspond with hiding spots in that location.

It adds a puzzle-solving element that can be adapted for tweens, teens, and, again, the older folks who still want to get in on the fun.

7. Reward Hunt

Gustavo Fring

Another smart idea to sweeten the whole deal is turning your Easter egg hunt into a mini reward system. Alongside the typical candy, tuck in notes that offer fun perks, like extra bedtime stories, a chore pass, or even a screen time coupon.

8. Easter Egg & Balloon Hunt

Gabe Pierce

Finally, if you have a baby or toddler who isn't quite ready to participate in the conventional Easter egg hunt, all you have to do is incorporate some balloons to make the activity easier.

First, fill up some helium balloons and tie a chocolate egg to the bottom of each string. Then, you can let them bop around your home or backyard, serving as straightforward markers for your little ones to spot. Not to mention, what kid doesn't love a balloon?!

It's safe to say that all period romance fans are anxiously awaiting Bridgerton season 4. And thank goodness Netflix's The Lady's Companion can hold us over until the new episodes air next year! The show follows Elena Bianda (Nadia de Santiago), a lady's companion and matchmaker with an excellent track record. But when she falls for a man originally intended for a client, the show takes an unexpected turn. Everyone is loving the series, including one X user who says, "I'm INSANE about this show [it] was perfect!!"

Here's everything we know about The Lady's Companion season 2 on Netflix.

Is there a season 2 of The Lady's Companion?

Netflix

We haven't gotten official confirmation The Lady's Companion season 2 is coming to Netflix, but we're crossing all our fingers and toes. Especially since series creator Gema R. Where can I watch The Lady's Companion season 2?

Netflix

If we end up getting The Lady's Companion season 2, we'll be able to watch new episodes on Netflix. Since season 1 just launched, there's a good chance we could see the next installment in 2026 or 2027.

Who's in The Lady's Companion cast?

Netflix

We don't know the cast for The Lady's Companion season 2 (we need a confirmation first!) but we do know who's in the first season. Right now, the cast includes:

Santiago is portrayed by 28-year-old Álvaro Mel, who played the lead role of Alex Ventura in La Fortuna, a 2021 adventure drama limited series. Other cast members include:

  • Nadia de Santiago as Elena Bianda
  • Álvaro Mel as Santiago
  • Isa Montalbán [es] as Cristina
  • Zoe Bonafonte [es] as Sara

Where does The Lady's Companion film?

Manuel Fernández Valdes/Netflix

The Lady's Companion has filmed across Spain, including Tres Cantos, Madrid, and Barcelona! And the only thing that comes close to visiting Spain IRL is seeing the beauty and decadence of the country in your favorite TV show.

Check out BritBox's New Family Drama That Will Fill The Bridgerton Void In Your Life while you wait for The Lady's Companion season 2 to (hopefully) hit Netflix!

Starbucks fans, the Starbucks summer menu for 2025 is coming way sooner than you think! Launching next month, the coffee chain gave us a cheeky lil’ sneak peek at their next seasonal lineup, and it looks stacked.

Scroll on to see everything coming to the Starbucks summer menu in May!

Meet The Starbucks Summer Menu For 2025!

Starbucks

Here's the full lineup for this year's Starbucks summer menu:

  • NEW! Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso
  • Summer-Berry Refreshers (Summer-Berry Lemonade Refresher and Summer Skies Drink to return)
  • NEW! Strawberries & Cream Cake Pop
Below, we dive into each item so you can know what to expect once these menu items drop in May! We don't have an official launch date yet, but will keep you updated here the moment we know more details.

Starbucks

NEW! Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso

Yummm. Inspired by horchata, we anticipate this new shaken espresso flavor from Starbucks to have notes of cinnamon and coconut, both of which pair really well for a light and refreshing sip – much needed in the summer! Per some Starbucks employees on Reddit, it looks like it'll be crafted using an all-new horchata syrup, too. 👀

Starbucks

Summer-Berry Refreshers

That's right: Starbucks' boba drinks are officially coming back! Launching next month, the chain's blue-tinted Summer-Berry Refreshers come with a serving of raspberry-flavored popping boba to elicit summertime fun. The boba pearls were very divisive among baristas and customers when they hit menus in 2024.

Last year, this lineup of Refreshers came in three variations: the Summer-Berry Refresher, the Summer-Berry Lemonade Refresher, and the Summer Skies Drink (mixed with coconut milk). The last two will definitely be returning to the summer menu for 2025! After a taste test from last year's launch, the Summer Skies ended up being our favorite.

Starbucks

NEW! Strawberries & Cream Cake Pop

Lastly, Starbucks is introducing a brand-new cake pop flavor for summertime: Strawberries & Cream! Some Starbucks employees on Reddit noted that it'll include a strawberry cake base with buttercream, which sounds so yummy. This new bite will join the existing cake pop trio of Birthday Cake (pictured above), Chocolate, and Cookies & Cream.
