Here, we meet Tiffany Richardson, CEO and principal AI strategist behind Artisan-Preneur, which uses insights from artificial intelligence to help entrepreneurs and creatives build their businesses.

What's the most unexpected or quirky business challenge you've faced and how did you overcome it?

Tiffany: I have been a business consultant for more than 11 years now, but became a sole proprietor at the end of 2022. The most unexpected challenge that I faced was when I went from two clients a month to having about 126 in a matter of a couple of months. I met the challenge by introducing AI. I became my own client. I was able to integrate artificial intelligence programs and put them to work, and see how I can make [my business] better, thereby making my clients’ businesses better.

What’s a recent small win for you and your business?

Tiffany: I found that the quickest and most efficient way to success was to partner with organizations that have pools of clients that are in my market. A recent small win is that I got my first event sponsor. I absolutely love to host parties, so I started hosting events. Then I was like, “What's going to make this even more unique and valuable?” I went to a couple of networking events and started pitching my idea of looking for sponsors, and I got my first sponsor from a life insurance company to pay for the food. It was very exciting!

Who is a woman in business that you look up to and why?

Tiffany: My grandmother is someone who I look up to, even though she’s passed. She did everything. She worked with the state of New York, and then had this daycare business. She was just so cool. She traveled the world. She was a missionary, so she would travel to the Middle East. She would travel to Africa. She was just always helping people. Right before she passed, she graduated with a master's degree in religious studies. She was in her early 70s. I feel like I’m a lot like her.

What's a book, podcast, or resource that has made an impact on you as an entrepreneur?

Tiffany: I actually use a lot of my clients as resources. We work together more as collaborators.

Tiffany: Joining the Verizon Small Business Digital Ready Program has been a game changer for me and my business, Artisan-Preneur Consulting. The digital skills part is super insightful. They've got tons of courses and materials that keep me in the loop with the latest digital stuff, which is perfect for someone like me who's all about mixing AI with traditional business strategies. Then, there's the networking! I've met so many other entrepreneurs and pros through this program. It's opened up so many doors for potential collaborations and partnerships, which is integral for my consulting firm. Lastly, the access to expert advice is just the cherry on top. Getting to chat with industry experts and mentors, picking their brains for new strategies, and getting feedback on my ideas? Priceless. It's helped shape the direction and growth of my business. Here, we meet Therise Edwards, founder/CEO of Teshley Solutions, an education consultancy firm that helps students and families navigate the complexities of the education system K through 12.

What is an unexpected business challenge that you faced and how did you overcome it?

I wouldn't call myself a FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid) expert, but I ended up having to know a lot more about it than I ever anticipated. FAFSA is what administers Pell Grants, which is what a lot of colleges base their financial aid on. I knew about the application changes, and some were excellent, but they made a series of critical errors and a lot of parents were scrambling. It was not my intent to have this as my area of focus; it just became a necessity.

What's a recent small win for your business?

Recent small wins are my collaborations. I formed partnerships with one organization that focuses on students with special needs. I hosted a webinar with the executive director of that organization. I formed a partnership with members from an insurance company on planning and paying for college. That was my first corporate sponsorship. And I've got a series of events coming out because others actually reached out to me. One of them I met through another networking platform, but I got to that platform from one of the sessions that I did with Verizon Small Business Digital Ready Program.

How did you start to collaborate with external partners?

Just changing my strategies and my approach, and just being more secure and more emphatic in making connections. It ends up being this continual cycle.

Is there a woman in business that you admire or that you look up to?

I have two. Leontyne Anglin, who runs a nonprofit called Beyond Expectations. She works with a small pool of students, but she just gives them enormous exposure and opportunity. She's brilliant with collaborating with individuals and businesses and really bringing the students what they need. And then the other on a bigger scale is Cate Luzio, founder and CEO of Luminary, who taught her Business Plan Bootcamp through the Verizon Small Business Digital Ready Program. She is just a dynamo. She is just so supportive of women entrepreneurs. She's awesome.

How did the Verizon Small Business Digital Ready Program help propel your business forward?

All of the collaborations and partnerships with the exception of one all came from joining the Verizon Small Business Digital Ready Program. I’ve taken all of the free classes and the one on projections and pricing, something every entrepreneur struggles with, was very helpful. There have been so many of them. Sometimes you're completely ignorant in a category so you take the class and it's like, okay, that's good to have. But then sometimes you sign up for it and it's like, oh, yeah, I did know 90 percent of that, but this other 10 percent is going to be very, very helpful.

"Over the past few years I have watched one of my best friends on the planet pour every bit of his heart, soul, sweat, time, energy, jokes, pain, joy, rebellion, darkness, and magic into this film," she says. "He's created the best work of his life, and this film feels like an actual joy portal, a wild escape from reality, and an abs sandwich."

After joking that Ryan, Blake, and Shawn randomly crashed her photo, Taylor continues, saying, "Shout out to Wade Wilson [the character played by Ryan Reynolds], aka my godkids' sperm donor!"

Ryan Reynolds had the funniest reaction, and told Deadline, "I'm going to need that on my gravestone, actually."

"Yeah, that is kind of it. She is the godparent to my daughters," the Deadpool actor continued. "That was very sweet. Not just sweet, that was, like, you could probably quantify a box office based on Taylor just doing something like that."

"I think what's most exciting for them is that for the longest time they just thought Taylor's just like an aunt, like a friend of Mommy and Daddy that's very, very close, almost family," he says onThe Jess Cagle Show. When you launch a business, you have to know how to sell it: to customers, to potential investors, and to the people you bring on board.
