Spike Your Sweets: Chocolate-Covered Amaretto Strawberries

We couldn’t resist throwing in one last Easter-themed treat. Besides, what would a holiday at Brit + Co. be without some spiked sweet action? Today we turn to one of our spiked sweet master chefs, Jaymee Sire, to whip up a batch of Chocolate-Covered Amaretto Cream Cheese Strawberries. That’s right. All those delicious words in one magic bite.

Ingredients

For the strawberries:
– 4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature

– 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar

– 1-2 tablespoons amaretto (can use 1-2 teaspoons almond extract for non-alcoholic version)

– 8 large fresh strawberries

– 1 cup chocolate chips

– 3 tablespoons heavy cream

– 1 tablespoon coconut oil

– 1 tablespoon Baileys Irish Cream (optional)

– toppings such as nuts, sugar or coconut (optional, but only recommended if not decorating for Easter)

– pastel frosting (either store-bought or homemade)

For homemade buttercream frosting:
– 1/2 cup butter, room temperature

– 3-4 tablespoons milk or half and half

– 1 pound confectioner’s sugar

– 1 teaspoon vanilla

– assorted food coloring

First, you’ll need to hull some strawberries. Of course, you could just use a paring knife, or a grapefruit spoon, or something already in your kitchen. But being obsessed with kitchen gadgets, we love busting out an officially strawberry huller.

To make the filling, mix up some room temperature cream cheese, amaretto, and powdered sugar.

Pipe the filling into the hollowed out strawberries using a pastry bag or a small Ziplock bag with the corner snipped off.

Refrigerate for 30-60 minutes so the cream cheese has a chance to firm back up. (Note: If you want to make these kid-friendly or alcohol-free, you can sub almond extract for the amaretto.)

For the chocolate, you should technically use a double boiler, but we were lazy, so we just stuck some chocolate chips, cream, Baileys and coconut oil in the microwave and heated on high until it was fully melted. (Ours took about 3 minutes, stopping every minute to stir).

Allow to cool slightly and dip each strawberry at an angle into the chocolate, give a swift turn (so cream cheese doesn’t ooze out) and place on a pan lined with parchment paper. If you want to sprinkle with chopped nuts or coconut, you can do that now while the chocolate is still wet. However, we wanted to decorate ours like Easter eggs, so we just stuck them into the fridge to set.

We had originally purchased some gel frosting tubes, but didn’t realize they were so… well… gel-ly. They didn’t show up AT ALL on the strawberries, so we made a basic buttercream frosting and colored them with food coloring to make my own Easter colors.

We used a bunch of Ziplock bags with the teeny-tiniest hole snipped off the corner to pipe out the frosting. (To be more precise, you might try a pastry bag fitted with very fine tips).

And then the fun part…decorating! Swirls, dots, stripes…let your imagination run wild. (In case you wondering, I was channeling my inner Jackson Pollock with that middle one). Happy Easter everyone!

This Cadbury Cocktail Recipe Is the Adult-Approved Treat You Need for Easter

Whether you’re planning to dye a few Easter eggs, create a basket full of goodies, or cook a mean Easter dinner, this cool-kid approved holiday requires a lot of prep work and leg work from the adults. Between buying candy, dye for the eggs, and ingredients for your egg and bacon carbonara (*prayer hands emoji*), it’s safe to say us adults deserve a little treat that is egg-tastic (and 21 and up!). This Cadbury cocktail is the perfect way to end the day (you know, when the kids are asleep). Made with sweetened condensed milk, vanilla vodka, cream de cacao, and Cadbury goodness, this sweet treat will seriously make your insides melt. Trust. Us.

Ingredients:

Makes one drink

  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 ounce of cream de cocoa
  • 1 ounce vanilla vodka
  • 1 Cadbury egg (just the cream part)
  • 1/4 cup of milk (we used cashew, but any will do)

Instructions:

1. Pour the dark chocolate chips and a small amount of milk in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave it for about 10-15 seconds or until you start to see the chocolate melting. Stir completely until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

2. Pour the chocolate on top of a level plate and carefully rim the martini. Let gravity do its thing by letting the chocolate drip on the edges of the glass. Place the glasses to the side.

3. For the cocktail, unwrap the Cadbury egg, cut it down the middle, and carefully scoop out the cream. Shake the cream into the shaker.

4. Next, measure 1 1/2 ounces sweetened condensed milk, 1/2 ounce of cream de cocoa, 1 ounce vanilla vodka, and 1/4 cup of milk, and place all the ingredients into the shaker. Just double these measurements if you want to create a drink for a friend. (Duh, of course you do.)

5. Add a handful of ice, and carefully shake for about 10 seconds or until the Cadbury cream has broken apart and melted.

6. Pour the liquid into the martini glass and shave the rest of your dark chocolate over the cocktail. Serve immediately.

But the fact the movie was made by women empowered Kidman — and gave her a sense of freedom. "Doing this subject matter in the hands of the woman that wrote the script, that's directing it and is a really great actress herself — we became one in a weird way, which I'd never had with a director before," Kidman says in a statement. "When you're working with a woman on this subject matter, you can share everything with each other.”

"I really decided in the beginning, I want to make a sexual film, just as sexual as all these films that I've always admired so much," adds writer-director-producer Halina Reijn, "but now I'm going to do it completely through female eyes. What does that mean and what does that look like?”

Kevin Costner Finally Spoke On THAT 'Yellowstone' Death

Yellowstone season 5B is here! Twisters might have been THE summer movie of 2024, but the western vibes aren't going away, even after the Glen Powell movie has left theaters. The second half of Yellowstone season 5 returned to Paramount November 10 and it did not disappoint. 16.4 million viewers tuned into the premiere over a variety of networks — making it the most-watched season premiere in the show's history.

And it's a major season for one very specific reason: Kevin Costner isn't returning as John Dutton. The star decided to exit the series after season 5's eighth episode premiered in January 2023, but as big of a change is this is, Costner is still an executive producer on the series, giving it a familiarity fans will appreciate.

Yellowstone has always been dramatic, but in the Yellowstone season 5 first look, you can just feel the tension from fan favorites like Beth Dutton, Monica Long, and Kayce Dutton. And no wonder: the Duttons' family drama is coming to a head, and it looks like someone might not make it out alive. Is Kevin Costner in Yellowstone season 5 part 2?

No Kevin Costner is not in the second half of Yellowstone season 5, and we find out the fate of his character John Dutton immediately. When Beth and Kayce find John dead in the bathroom, Beth immediately suspects foul play and blames it on Jamie. Well, Kevin is finally speaking on his character's end, and told The Michael Smerconish Programon November 11 that he actually didn't know the show had premiered the night before.

“I’m going to be perfectly honest. I didn’t know it was actually airing last night,” he says. “That’s a swear-to-God moment. I’ve been seeing ads with my face all over the place and I’m thinking, ‘Gee, I’m not in that one.’ But I didn’t realize yesterday was the thing...I heard it’s a suicide, so that doesn’t make me want to rush to go see it.”

But even if Kevin isn't over the moon about watching his character die, he doesn't have any bad blood with the writers. “They’re pretty smart people,” he continues. “Maybe it’s a red herring. Who knows? They’re very good. And they’ll figure that out.”

Well, the actor told Entertainment Tonight that he STILL hasn't seen the season 5 premiere as of November 17. “I didn’t watch it, so I don’t really have any thoughts about it,” he said. Due to delays from the writer's strike, and a tug-of-war between Paramount saying Kevin couldn't film new episodes and Kevin saying creator Taylor Sheridan took too long to write the scripts, the actor chose to leave the series, reportedly in part to promote his Horizon movie franchise.

“I gave this thing five seasons,” the actor told The Hollywood Reporterthis summer. “I was really happy to do it. And I don’t need drama. So, let’s just take that drama away, let’s take the guessing [away]. The fans have been way too good to me. And my obligation is to go on and continue to make things that mean something to them.”

"It's dark, brutal and desperate stuff — gaining power, losing it, defending and fighting," she continues. "It's bloody and at times beautiful in how it breaks them into their core selves." The setup for a potential season 6 will totally depend on how season 5 ends — and how it affects Beth, Rip, and the rest of the family.
