21 Amazing Celeb Summer Vacays

We just can’t, seriously. While we may have gotten away for a weekend or two over the summer, we have MAJOR vacay envy after looking at how these 21 celebrities spent their summer (and I think we need to re-read these easy ways to travel more this year). These stars prove that they work hard and indeed play hard by jetting off to glam locales like Paris or Tuscany, or roughing it in Utah or the Sequoia National Forest. See where Reese, Lupita, Madonna and more went for their holiday!

1. Lupita Nyong’o: Lupita took some time off before promoting her newest film, the Queen of Katwe. And she didn’t just go anywhere, she went to the paradise that is Bali. While staying at the Mulia Bali, she explored, she read, she relaxed and she looked amazing doing it all.

2. Reese Witherspoon: We already had major vacay FOMO after seeing Reese’s family trip to the Bahamas, but she put her passport to more use this summer: She did an awesome-looking girl’s trip with her crew to Italy and Croatia.

3. Drew Barrymore: While her peers were jetting off to France, England and Italy, Drew did her vacay domestic style. She hiked in Utah, boated on Lake Powell and bought a painting by the artist Ulrike Arnold (who was painting in the area).

4. Jessica Chastain: Jessica seems to be always working (she has three films slated for both 2017 and 2018), so it’s a good thing she’s taking a break (and she looks good doing it). She totally pulled off an Italian goddess look while in Florence, Italy. She also hit Rome and Greece, and did the trip with her mom (cute!).

5. Chrissy Teigen: Baby Luna had her first fab vacay when Mom and Dad took her to Lake Como and Tuscany. One request — adopt us, Chrissy! This was a sentimental trip for Chrissy and hubby John Legend; they got married in Lake Como, and it looks like they wanted to show their daughter where all the magic started.

6. Jessica Alba: Jessica and her hubby engaged in a little bit of PDA on a yacht while in Oahu, Hawaii. And yes, that’s the PERFECT place for some PDA. This looks like Jessica’s third trip to Hawaii this year; she was spotted there in March and April, but can you blame her? It’s Hawaii!

7. Beyoncé: Could Beyoncé and Blue Ivy be ANY CUTER? Nope, not possible. The duo danced in Paris on the balcony of the epic penthouse suite (with a to-die-for view of the Eiffel Tower) that the fam stayed in while in the City of Light. The suite at the Shangri-La Hotel reportedly cost 19k a night. Yes, $19,000 a NIGHT.

8. Gwyneth Paltrow: The busy (and Birkenstock-wearing) single mom took her kids to Barcelona for a summer trip. Along with the Spanish getaway (a place that Gwyneth is very familiar with, having filmed a food travel show with Mario Batali there), she also hit Disneyland, London, Chicago and Newfoundland during the summer. The girl is a traveler.

9. Zendaya: Zendaya went to Rio! But not for the Olympics — she was there weeks too early.

10. Whitney Port: This Cali girl did a Back East vacay with the fam in Milford, Connecticut. She embraced summer by doing a bit of sailing (but was served a side of sea sickness).

11. Hilary Duff: Hilary took her “brave” boy boarding while in Hawaii. She hashtagged this #memoriestolastalifetime, and those are the moments worth remembering.

12. Katy Perry: Oh Katy, you’re so silly. While in Île de Ré (an island off the west coast of France near La Rochelle), Katy shared this bottom-baring bike pic, writing, “I know it’s a little cheeky.” Her vacay to France became big news after beach photos of her and her bae Orlando Bloom (a naked Orlando Bloom, that is) went viral.

13. Britney Spears: Britney wore next to nothing while boating in Hawaii during her family vacay. But it wasn’t all sun and fun for Britney. The mom of two claimed she almost drowned while there, saying, “I went out and I thought it was like a wave pool, and I was like, ‘This is so nice and refreshing and just beautiful.’ But the thing I didn’t think about is when you come back, the waves really come in hard. I got sucked under for like five minutes. I almost drowned.”

14. Madonna: We couldn’t pick just one of Mad’s pics, so you’re getting two. The one and only Madonna had a busy summer with very distinct and different trips. She jetted off to Italy, took her family to Africa (and hung out with the Samburu tribe in Kenya and Malawi) and then hit Cuba. Is the woman ever home?!?

15. Elizabeth Banks: Elizabeth Banks took in some sports at the Rio Olympics. Yeah, pretty sweet. She also did a bit of sightseeing while there, like taking in the views of Ipanema, visiting the world-famous Christ the Redeemer statue and checking out the local graffiti.

16. Heidi Klum: The uber busy mom Heidi Klum took her kids somewhere really tropical. There was sun, sand and swimming, lots of swimming. Of course Heidi’s Instagram feed is full of sexy photos of her in bikinis, but apparently, she has a new swimwear line on the horizon, so she was trying it out.

18. Milla Jovovich: Milla Jovovich took her daughter Ever to Sienna, Italy on the invitation of Balthazar and Rosetta Getty. Friends can be sooooo cool.

The entire world fell in love with Pedro Pascal during The Last of Us and The Mandalorian, and even though we won't see him as Reed Richards in the Fantastic 4until next summer, there is PLENTY of content to go around. He's always fangirling over someone's nails or hyping up his family, and Connie Nielsen explaining how Pedro made her feel special on the Gladiator 2 set makes me love him even more (which I didn't know was possible).

Keep reading to see what Connie Nielsen had to say about working with Pedro Pascal on Gladiator 2. TBH, It just might restore your faith in men.

Gladiator 2 follows Paul Mescal's Lucius, who's determined to bring down General Acacius (Pedro Pascal), who he considers responsible for his loss. Connie plays Pedro's onscreen wife Lucilla, and when asked what it was like to share scenes with him, she reveals she felt "really feminine around him."

"He's a protector in a way, and I'm not always used to that," she tells Good Morning America. "So it was kind of special to have that feeling that he was a guy who's protective and kind and just [a] very loving kind of person."

The actress also spilled on how "you can just tell he has this joy and, at the same time, you can also sense that he's been through stuff that's been hard and I just really love a person who responds to what has been hard in life with joy."

Pedro Pascal has been vocal about his family fleeing Chile in the 1970s, and how his parents had to "go into hiding for about six months," and it's clear Connie's proud of the man he's become. "He doesn't become caustic or, you know, entitled," she continues. "He's the least entitled man, always nice to everyone on set. Just a sweetheart of a guy."

Is someone cutting onions?!

For his part, Pedro loved working with Connie too, and, when asked what it was like working together, Pedro immediately responds with, "Power couple."

"We just dove right in," he continues, joking that he "made sure Connie understood that I was her man."

Pedro Pascal always seems to have an encouraging comment or joke ready to make everyone laugh, and revealed to Entertainment Weekly that during an intense battle scene, he actually tripped and landed at Paul Mescal's feet.

"I was running off the drawbridge, and they kind of dressed it with some dust so that when it slams against the fortified wall, there's a big puff of smoke," he says. "And I'm charging off the drawbridge and jumping over the wall, and I slip. I literally bounce off the drawbridge on my —ss and land splat in front of Paul's feet on the first take." Naturally, he followed up with, "Are you not entertained?"

Are you excited to see Connie Nielsen and Pedro Pascal in Gladiator 2? If you're still thinking about the Roman Empire, read up on what What Paul Mescal Had To Say About Gladiator 3.
