Live Blog: Here’s Everything Unfolding at Apple’s 2016 March Event

Guys, it’s finally happening. Apple’s March Event is finally here. Today is the the day when we finally get to find out if all those four-inch iPhone SE rumors and 9.7-inch iPad Pro rumors actually hold any water. Today’s event is much smaller than Apple’s annual Fall Event, which usually happens around September of each year, where they traditionally unveil the latest generation of iPhone (iPhone 7 Pro is rumored to be dropping this year) and will be held at the tech co’s own campus in Cupertino, California.

The formal invite had only the tagline “Let us loop you in,” which people are speculating to allude to either Apple Headquarter’s address — 1 Infinite Loop — or the fact that Apple might be showcasing some gorgeous new Apple Watch strap options. Let’s find out, shall we?

10:00 AM: It begins! First, an homage video of Apple’s 40 years of tech accomplishments. “There are now more than one billion Apple devices in use around the world,” says CEO Tim Cook.

10:04 AM: Tim Cook addresses the FBI case. “We will not shrink from this responsibility.”

10:06 AM: Apple announced two years ago that they intend to become 100 percent renewable worldwide. Currently, 93 percent of Apple’s sites in 23 countries run on renewable energy.

10:15 AM: Meet LIAM — Apple’s new R&D project, a robot that disassembles your old iPhone into its parts (like tungsten, lithium battery, silver, etc.) so “the materials in your old iPhone can live on.” All you have to do is take your old phone into a store or print a pre-paid shipping label here.

10:20 AM: There’s an Apple Watch app via Apple’s ResearchKit that is trying to predict seizures BEFORE they happen. Apple is also introducing CareKit, their medical research module, that monitors your health and allows you to share it with your health care provider. It’s available in April. Precision medicine, guys.

10:25 AM: APPLE WATCH TIME!

10:26 AM: The new bands are here. There’s a new assortment of woven nylon bands (a brand new material!), new leather colors and a black Milanese strap. Also, PRICE DROP. The Watch now starts at $299.

10:30 AM: New things for the Apple TV is more apps, tvOS updates and new features like Folders, Dictation (for usernames and passwords too ;) and access to your photo library including Live Photos.

10:31 AM: Yep, four-inch iPhone is HERE. In 2015, Apple sold 30 million four-inch iPhones, so the tech giant decided to release an updated version. And yes, it’s the iPhone SE. It’s basically an iPhone 5S with 6S colors!! The SE is three times faster than the 5S, has the A9 processor chip as expected, 12MP iSight camera, is “Hey Siri”-enabled and has — get ready — better battery life. Price starts at $399 for the 16 GB model, 64 GB is $499, is $17 per month if you go the monthly payment route or is free with a two-year contract. Pre-orders start March 24 and will go on sale March 31.

10:40 AM: Here comes iOS 9.3. Things to look out for: Night Shift, Touch ID-protected Notes, updates to the Health App, top story + editor picks for the News App, CarPlay has Apple music selection + a Nearby Feature on Maps and a brand new Education app. iOS 9.3 is available TODAY.

10:45 AM: The rumors were correct. The 9.7-inch iPad Pro is coming, and it weighs only a pound. Apple’s not beating around the bush here. The new iPad Pro was created to lure in Windows users. Phil Schiller, SVP of Apple’s marketing team, gives us a startling statistic: 600 million PC users are using devices over five years old. “This is really sad,” he says. (Spotted: someone face-palming in the audience.)

10:50 AM: iPad Pro comes with True Tone for the best display performance yet (it responds and adjusts the display according to the lighting around you), has the expressly designed for iPad A9X processor chip, four speakers and has “Hey Siri” support. New accessories include a new SD card read, a USB Camera Adapter and old accessories like the Apple Pencil and a detachable keyboard. It comes packed with a 12 megapixel iSight camera and a 5 megapixel front-facing camera. “The ultimate PC replacement,” says Phil. Comes in four colors including Rose Gold for the first time. The tablet starts at 32 GB $599, 128 GB for $749 and for the first time ever 256 GB for $899. Orders start March 24 and start shipping March 31. The 12.9-inch original iPad Pro’s 256 GB configuration is going for $1099.

11:02 AM: Tim is summarizing all the new products that were announced this morning. He says this is the last announcement in the Town Hall on Apple’s current campus. *tear* Next year, Apple will be moving to their insane new “spaceship” campus. See you guys there!

This Amazon Portable Phone Charger Is The Best Gadget I've Ever Used

I am a very prepared person, which means I do my best to handle life's unexpected chaos with grace. A recent curveball that I did not prepare for was my phone dying in the middle of New York City. When you live in Manhattan, there's always a show to see, friends to grab margaritas with, and events to attend. That means you lose phone battery pretty quickly, which is exactly the one thing you don't want to go without in the middle of the city.

Ahead of my show at Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, I was #influenced to buy this viral gadget to bring into the stadium with me — and it's the best portable phone charger I've ever used. I can't believe I've gone this long without it!

First Impressions

I grabbed the iWALK Small Portable Charger (which I got for $30), and the first thing I noticed was the size. The whole thing is smaller than my iPhone, meaning that it'll fit in just about any size bag and works with a lot of stadium concert rules!

It comes in multiple colors like pink and teal, but I got it in white.

The Timeline

I left for the concert at 2pm with a fully charged phone. I had to use Spotify, Google Maps, Uber, and my camera all before Taylor even came out, which means that by the time Gracie Abrams and Phoebe Bridgers had finished their opening acts (around 8 pm), my phone was on death's door.

The portable phone charger went right into the port and kept my phone alive for the rest of the night! It also didn't interfere with the audio in any of my recordings, which was super important to me.

This product really surpassed my expectations because of how much power you get from such a small device. I've used it multiple times, and every time I do, my phone ends up fully charged, meaning I have enough battery for another round of adventures and antics.

Spencer Pratt & Heidi Montag Break Down In Tears About “Life Changing” Public Support After $2.5 Million Home Burned Down

The world watched as the devastating L.A. fires swept away home after home last week — including reality TV icons Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's. To say it was heartbreaking for the L.A. community would be a gross understatement, and these two have been very open about the toll it's taken on their family. In an interview with Good Morning America, the couple opened up to share about their experience — and share the incredible way friends and fans have come together to support them.

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt joined Good Morning Americaon January 15, 2025 to talk about how the L.A. fires continue to impact them. The couple shared what it was like having to quickly leave their home in a moment's notice. Heidi explained that Spencer told her to grab anything she wanted to keep, so she ended up grabbing her kids' teddy bears because she was so flustered.

When their $2.5 million home actually caught fire, Spencer got choked up talking about watching their kids' rooms burn on their cameras. He said, "Our son’s bed started just burning in the shape of a heart. The fire started in the shape of a heart. I was like, ‘This is like, out of body insane.’"

Outside of that, the couple detailed the loss beyond the material items of it all. Spencer opened up about the memories lost throughout it all, too. He said, “I feel like a ghost. I don’t have a single photo now from before an iPhone existed. I don’t have any of the dumb little things that are on your shelves in your parents’ they’re all gone. Not a single nothing.”

And to Heidi, their home was more than a physical place to live. She shared, “It’s a place that you love that you live, it’s a refuge from the world. And to have that be gone, it’s a really difficult concept to continue to daily deal with."

In the midst of the devastation, fans and friends have banded together to support Heidi and Spencer in a really unique way. After Spencer posted on TikTok that people should stream Heidi's 2010 album Superficial, so they can generate revenue to rebuild their lives with, people took that and ran with it. The song eventually hit #1 on iTunes, and Spencer even shared that there's potential for it to hit Billboard's Hot 100 Dance Chart, too.

And it's not just fans blasting this throwback song. Friends and fellow celebrities like Paris Hilton and Flava Flav both posted the song on TikTok. Plus, former The Hills co-stars shared the song as well, including Brody Jenner, Kristin Cavallari, and Audrina Patridge.

Heidi said, “The fan support has been such a light in such a darkness for us. It’s life-changing.”

OMG, Netflix Just Confirmed The ‘You’ Season 5 Release Date (With New Video)

Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is back for another season of snooping and stalking in New York City, and thanks to the new You season 5 teaser, we know exactly when this new TV show is returning. In addition to showing us characters from the past like Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail), Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), and Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle), Joe straight-up says goodbye to the one person who's always been there: you. Yep, Netflix went there.

“Every season they manage to find new space to make it interesting and relevant,” Penn Badgley told Tudum. “And this season, I think somehow coming back to where it started allowed for it to just become grounded in the way that it needs to also have this kind of spectacular finish.”

Here's a breakdown of that brand new You season 5 teaser.

"Hello, you. Do you remember me? Cause I remember you," Joe asks in the You season 5 teaser, over shots of New York City and Mooney's Books. "Here we are together again, back to where it began."

"A lot has happened these many years together," he continues. "Identities, cities, loves, complications." The trailer is a walk down memory lane for viewers and for Joe as he remembers Beck, Love, and Marienne — and locking them up. Plus some fights and escapes he made along the way.

"All that led me here to now, to where I as always meant to be," he says. "And the one constant, the one thing that has always been there for me, is you. You who have been there the whole time and will be there with me to the end. Goodbye, you."

Okay, this is totally giving me Black Mirror, metaverse vibes, especially since Joe's in his creepy underground bunker with all that blue lighting. I have chills down my spine just watching this!

Is season 5 of You coming out?

Yes, You season 5 is dropping on Netflix April 24, 2025.

We've been waiting for new episodes since season 4 premiered in 2023, but the writers and stars have been planning Joe's ending for much longer. "We have some ideas that we've been talking about pretty much from the beginning," Sera Gamble told EW when she was showrunner in 2023. "It's really the debate about what kind of justice would be fair and appropriate for a guy like Joe. And then do we believe that he would get that kind of punishment? My short answer is like, maybe not from the American system. But there might be other ways. So that's the stuff we're talking about."

But whatever these writers and directors have up their sleeves, Penn Badgley promises You season 5 will come to a "perfect" conclusion. “I would love for people to just be like, ‘Wow, it’s over and I feel good and I don’t want to watch it again,'" he told Harper's Bazaarin March of 2023. And honestly, a perfect ending is all TV fans can hope for these days, right?
