Sometimes, you get caught up in all the mad decision making that precedes your big day — like flower crown or veil? What type of manicure do you want? Wedding favors or nah? Your wedding day comes and goes, and while it was the best day of your life, it was also over in a flash. But one year later, after the ink has dried on your marriage license, it’s time to look back. Evan Ross, Ashlee Simpson’s husband (and Diana Ross’ son!) did just that and followed the recent celeb trend of posting never-before-seen photos of his and Ashlee’s wedding day on his Instagram right around their one year anniversary.
The adorable couple got hitched last August on his mother’s beautiful Greenwich, Connecticut estate and are now expecting their first baby together — a little girl due this summer! They didn’t post any photos on social media when they got married, but Evan is now sharing them with the world. Perhaps now that the wedding anniversary and their baby’s due date is fast approaching, the father-to-be is waxing a bit nostalgic :)
Evan posted the above lovely pic of himself helping his bride down the stone steps of his mother’s yard. Bronx, Ashlee’s son with ex Pete Wentz, rounds out this sweet blended family photo. He captioned this photo: “#Reflections of such a beautiful wedding. Me and my amazing wife @ashleesimpsonross. At my mothers house in Greenwich Connecticut! And now I can’t wait to meet my little baby girl.”
For a totally boho and completely clever touch, Ashlee opted for a two piece, crop top wedding dress. You can totally swap out the skirt for something a little shorter and more festive for the reception and get an entirely different look.
Aww. This photo looks like it was captured during the part where the officiant says, “You may kiss the bride.” He captioned this one, “Love those lips!!! #weddingmemories”
Here, the bride and groom share a quiet moment — and give you great inspo for your own wedding shot list. The super stylish groom sported a fedora hat and a custom python-trimmed, blue velvet tux. Ashlee went for a tiara, but in an ultra modern way atop loose tresses and messily braided hair. Consider passing on the updo if you want to go with a tiara for a more relaxed wedding day look.
Evan also put up a pic of their reception. He wrote, “Look how beautiful our reception was!!! Just looking back through photos. Such a special day.” There are definitely a few ideas you can cop for your own wedding here. The woodsy dangling wreaths above the tables, mismatched curtains for the ultimate bohemian chic wedding tent and the mood-setting light projections on the floor and the ceiling — so pretty.
After all, it’s these little details that make your wedding day absolutely unique.
