Pregnancy has its ups and downs. On one hand it’s totally awesome to have an actual human being growing inside you. On the other hand, it’s sometimes not so awesome to have constantly swollen feet and the world’s weakest bladder. Besides that life changing moment when you actually get to meet your mini me, one the of the most exciting times during your pregnancy is probably breaking the news to your man and loved ones. If you’re expecting and looking for a fun way to tell the world you’re expecting, take a cue from the top 10 baby announcements that happened this year.

1. Blake Lively’s Sunny Bump: Ever since Blake surprised the internet with this glamorous post on her site earlier this fall, the celeb has seriously been rocking the whole maternity thing.

2. Paul Rudd’s Pals: This couple just happened to run into the hilarious actor on the same day they were planning on announcing their pregnancy on Facebook (can you say lucky?!). Hopefully some of Rudd’s comedic genius rubs off on the little tike. (via Reddit)

3. Queen of Pop: The Voice judge and rock goddess, Gwen Stefani posted this photo on Instagram with the hilarious caption, “Was ready to hand over the crown, but I guess I am still queen of the house. #itsaboy #surroundedbyboys.” (via Gwen Stefani)

4. 1..2..3…We’re Pregnant: Who can forget about this super adorable couple who pranked all their friends and family in the nicest way possible. The soon-to-be parents broke the news by gathering their loved ones around under the pretense of a group of photo. But instead of snapping a pic, they stealthily switched to video mode and substituted “say cheese” for “Kat’s pregnant!” What ensued was an adorable array of “whaaat?!,” “really?” and “OMG!” (via YouTube)

5. Key to Happiness: Alicia Keys is looking like a Greek goddess in this stunning photo she shared on her Instagram. The romantic caption read: “Happy Anniversary to the love of my life… And to make it even sweeter we’ve been blessed with another angel on the way!!” We can’t wait for the family duets. 6. Welcoming Mila: In 2012, these two expecting parents shared a time lapse video on YouTube documenting their first pregnancy. The 90-second video went viral, reaching over 11.5 million views. Two years later, the pair is back with another time lapse to welcome a new member of the family with a little bit of help from the new baby’s soon-to-be big sister, Amelie. (via YouTube)

7. Baby Jordans: Nobody can escape the inevitable cuteness that is teeny tiny baby shoes – especially when they’re miniature Jordans. Kelly Rowland posted this adorable pic about six months ago. 8. The Nine Month Vine: Here’s a similar time lapse to the one above in a much more condensed format. New dad, Ian Padgham was able to transform the nine months of his wife’s pregnancy into a six second short. This takes newborn and pregnancy photos to an entirely new level. (via Ian Padgham)

9. Chalk It Up: Supermodel Molly Sims goes for the cute route my plopping her daughter Brooks in her lap with a “two years” sign and another chalkboard by her belly with a “4 months” sign. This isn’t the first adorable way Sims has announced she’s expecting. With Brooks she stuck the news in a fortune cookie and gave it to her husband. (via Molly Sims)

10. Big Sister Surprise: These unsuspecting sibling thought they were just getting a couple of cookie cakes, but much to their surprise they opened to the boxes to find a baby announcement. Their reactions are pretty priceless. (via YouTube)

11. Bare It All: No shocker here: Victoria’s Secret angel Doutzen Kroes wins the award for the sexiest baby announcement. Evocative of the classic Demi Moore photo but with just a budding baby bump, we definitely admire her confidence! (via @doutzen)

12. Up Themed Announcement: Expecting mom, Erika Jackson bought an art print of the Up house sitting on Paradise Falls (the couple loves all things animation) and wrote him a poem on the back subtly telling him that they were pregnant. His whole reaction is utterly adorable but the best part is definitely when he says, “we did it!” (via YouTube)

13. Canine Siblings: Before you’re blessed with a miniature human, your dogs are definitely your “children.” So when announcing her pregnancy earlier this year, the country star recruited the soon-to-be doggy siblings to help her break the news in these adorable sweaters. (via @carrieunderwood)

14. Balloon Baby: Arguably the most exciting announcement of the year (at least for us at the Brit + Co office) came from Brit herself this past Easter. We’re happy to report that baby Ansel is now out of Brit’s belly and is already looking super cute.

15. Bun In the Oven: Got the punny route like Stacy Keibler did with this Instagram photo of a bun literally in the oven. The photo’s subtitle was simply, “Look what we’ve got cooking! A Bun’dle of love!” Cute. (via @stacykeibler)

BONUS: Male Maternity Photos: Okay so maybe he isn’t actually the pregnant one, but this guy has the whole maternity photo shoot thing down pat. The brave dad-to-be posted these photos with the simple explanation: “My wife didn’t want to take maternity pictures, so I hired a photographer and took her place…” (via Reddit)

10 Tips For Fake Drinking When You’re Secretly Pregnant

When you're often the life of the party and happen to be partnered up and in your 30s, you'll instantly turn heads when you say no to booze. I can personally attest to the difficulty of this. As someone who loves happy hour and has a particular affinity for lemon drop shotsin totally inappropriate settings, there was no way I could get away with *not* drinking without inviting questioning looks.

Before I give you the guide to fake drinking when you're secretly pregnant, let me take this moment to make a PSA. If you see that a female friend of yours isn't drinking and she usually does, try not to ask her if she's expecting in front of everyone. She might be secretly pregnant, taking fertility drugs that can't be combined with alcohol, just trying to lower her dosage of alcohol with the hope that it helps her get pregnant. There's also the chance she might just be…not drinking. Be as it may, no one wants to be bombarded with pregnancy questions.

Of course, not everyone is going to take my PSA seriously, so I've got some tips and tricks for all you pre-reveal preggos. These same tips apply to gals who are not drinking because they are trying to conceive. I was personally in this non-drinking camp for about five months before getting pregnant.

And how's this for proof? I organized and attended a bachelorette party for two of my very best friends with about eight of my other besties present — and no one had ANY idea I was pregnant. So, trust me — I'm a bona fide pro at fake drinking.

Opt for canned beer

This was one of my earliest discoveries in the world of fake drinking. No one can see your drink when it's in a can. You might read that and think, yeah so? Well, take that can with you to the other can, and dump it out in the sink. Fill it up with water and no one will be the wiser. In fact, they'll think — wow, she's really blasting through those Coors Lights. Pro tip: Be sure to wipe any water drips off the can before you leave the bathroom, and rinse the sink so there's no errant beer foam floating around.

If you have to order a real drink, choose a clear cocktail. This is the classic move. You creep over to the bar when no one else is around, and order a club soda with lime. Think of it as a mocktail. Be sure to ask the bartender to serve it to you in a cocktail glass — a giant water glass or plastic cup is a dead giveaway.

If it's impossible to get alone time at the bar, order a vodka soda (or gin and tonic). Then take it to the bathroom, dump out the liquid (use a straw to keep the ice and any garnishes in the cup), then fill it with water instead. Complain about the soda or tonic being flat if anyone questions your drink's lack of tiny bubbles.

Make friends with bartenders. At first, bartenders give you a bit of side-eye when you ask for a club soda in a cocktail glass. They won't ask you what the deal is, but you can let them assume what they like — especially when you order that second or third club soda in a cocktailglass.

If you're feeling cavalier, and you and the bartender have really hit your stride, you can even say, “I'll take anything non-alcoholic that looks like a cocktail." I actually made SUCH good friends with a bartender at a wedding where I was fake drinking that every time I came over to the bar, he immediately winked at me and gave me “my regular." My friends guffawed at the fact that I was already friends with the bartender. Pro.

Allude to a possible tannin allergy. Wine is the toughest thing to fake, so don't even try. Tell your friends about how, out of nowhere, you've started to get headaches immediately after drinking a glass of wine. When they're like, “Is it just when you drink red?" reply with a frustrated sigh, “No, both red and white make me feel crappy — maybe it's a tannin thing?" Then get your faux canned beer or clear mocktail, and call it a day.

Ginger ale is a GREAT substitute for Champagne. Ginger ale looks like Champagne, it smells kind of like Champagne, and if your friends are tipsy enough and take a sip, they'll actually believe that it IS Champagne. Don't overdo this one though — too much sugary soda is not a good thing for you and your secret babe!

Always be the one to order or serve a round of shots. Shots are one of the toughest things to fake. Like, really difficult. And you might be thinking, who still takes shots anyway? Well, the answer is: I do. Or rather, I did. It would have been impossible to be at my two besties' bachelorette party without at least one round of shots. So what's a preggo to do? Serve 'em up, of course.

Because shots are best served as a surprise to inspire a second wind in any given party, you can creep into the kitchen to set things up. Pour all but one, and fill that one with a substitute. Ideally, it looks like what you're serving, and if that's not possible, make 3-5 of them vodka shots including yours, which is actually… water! If ordering shots at a bar, you're probably already friends with the bartender, so just ask him to make yours a fake one and to put a napkin or coaster under it on the tray that comes out.

Keep a drink in your hand at all times. This is an obvious one, but it's worth mentioning. If you don't have a drink on hand, someone will either hand you one or give you a hard time for not drinking. DO NOT give them that opportunity ;)

Never leave your drink unattended. Hopefully, you already have this rule in your wheelhouse from your college days. In this case, the key here is avoiding two things: friendly refills and someone accidentally picking up your drink and finding out it's phony.

Avoid being the first one to hit the hay. If you've already been squirreling around on the beverage front, the next clear sign that you might be secretly pregnant is when you're the first one to go to bed. So don't do that. Don't go to bed. Ever! Okay, at some point you'll need to go to bed because you need a TON of sleep in your first trimester, but avoid being the first party pooper at all costs.

And don't use getting up early “for a run" or “to do some work" as an excuse for going to bed — friends that know you will see right through that.

12 Surprising Facts You Didn’t Know About Being A Radio City Rockette (From Real Rockettes!)

We might just be getting into the holiday spirit, but for the Radio City Rockettes, it's been Christmastime since September! In addition to a very enlightening game of This or That, twins Caitlin and Courtney Sullivan gave Brit + Co an inside look at what it's like to be a Rockette — and what they do the rest of the year. Consider this the perfect trivia for your Christmas dinner after you've mastered that Rockette red lip ;).

Here are 12 surprising things about being a Radio City Rockette.

1. Rehearsing for the Christmas season is a full-time job.

Once the holidays roll around, the Radio City Rockette shows might last 90 minutes, but prepping for the season is a full work week. "The rehearsal season itself is six weeks long, six hours a day, six days a week," Courtney says. "So it is a long process and I feel like the rehearsals itself are like a bonding experience for us."

2. The Radio City Rockettes get some serious bonding time.

"You spend a lot of time with the girls around you and within Radio City, our dressing rooms too," Courteney says of the Rockette rehearsal schedule. "I feel like that's the time when you really get to form those bonds with your sisters and really create magic that can be seen on stage too."

"Yeah, once we move into Radio City, this becomes your family, truly," Caitlin adds. "We spend every day, day in day out together, we spend the holidays together. So you naturally just become very close with everyone."

Each Rockette dresses up her getting-ready station.

"Everybody dresses up their station to make it feel very homey," Caitlin says. "I like lots of like decor and festive lights, candles, all that fun stuff."

The women love to have treats in their dressing rooms!

I'm literally snacking on a chocolate bar as I type this, and I'm not the only one who likes to have sweets on-hand! "I love Christmas cookies," Caitlin says. "We will do something with our dressing room and bring in treats every day. I feel like someone's bringing in something new."

The Radio City Rockettes perform up to 200 shows at Christmas.

"The Rockettes perform up to 200 shows in a season, and the way that each show feels so special and individual, it's just amazing how you never know who's out in the audience seeing the show for the first time," Courtney says. "And the way the ladies in the line put their best foot forward every single time is so inspiring and made me want to give even more."

"It just really amazes me how dedicated and how hard working all the Rockettes are," Caitlin agrees. "And I think we always knew that, but then once you're in it, you have a whole new level of respect for how hard all these women work."

And each Rockette can perform in up to 4 shows a day!

"I think sometimes people don't realize we can do up to four shows in the day, which is unreal and amazing," Caitlin says. "That might be a surprise to people when they're coming to a show. They might think we just have that one that day, but we actually might have two, three, or four in the day, which is pretty amazing."

But the Rockettes also find time to goof off.

The Rockettes might be known for their precision, but Courtney promises their smiles are real! "We are having so much fun," Courtney says. "It's really just an amazing feeling to be on stage and we find times to laugh and joke around, but really obviously give our all to our craft. And I think people don't realize like we are really having an amazing time on and off stage."

The Radio City Rockettes really support one another.

As you can imagine, a career as a Rockette comes with its challenges, but the ladies on the line always support each other. "I was really proud last year was our first season together and just to complete one full season is such an accomplishment," Courtney says. "I feel like we're ready to take it on again and know like we absolutely can do it. And with the support of everyone around us too, you know, you're going to get through the entire holiday season and you're gonna come out even stronger."

The Radio City Rockettes can work a bunch of jobs during the summer.

The Rockettes have a busy schedule during Christmas — but that doesn't mean they kick up their feet the rest of the year! "Every person on the line has a very diverse background and they go to different job opportunities throughout the year," Courtney says. "People are pulled in different directions when the holiday season is over. The Rockettes do work year-round [with] different opportunities."

"We're always looking to continue to dance and work on our precision," she continues. "The summer though, our favorite thing is to go to the beach. We're from New Jersey and the Jersey shore is like our home. So if we're not dancing, you can definitely find us relaxing on the sand."

The best thing about performing New York City can also be the most challenging.

You know how, when people talk about New York, they say, "If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere?" That's because it's hard to live here y'all!

"This is just the city that never sleeps," Caitlin says. "There are people everywhere. It's always alive. There's just something magical about New York and I love that. And I think that could come with the biggest challenge as well: the city that never sleeps. You feel like you're going, going, going at all times. But that's pretty exciting to do at our age, living out our dreams. I feel like that will never get old."

"I feel like we have no complaints here!" Courtney adds.

Even as a Radio City Rockette, the work is never done.

"I feel like there's always room for improvement," Courtney says. "Even today, as we're living at our dream, we're continuously working on our technique and our precision and going back to our foundation, I think the work is never done and you can continue to dream and accomplish some of those really major goals."

"Yeah, the work is never done is I think is kind of our motto," Caitlin adds. "Just keep, keep pushing, keep driving and just keep dreaming. And never give up."

The Rockettes are like one big family.

Just like so many of our favorite TV show and movie casts, the Rockettes love to bond! "The Rockettes truly feel like a sisterhood and we are so lucky that we are real sisters on the line together," Caitlin says, adding that to dance "with your sister is everything we always hoped for."

And those connections make a magical experience like New York at Christmas even more magical. "[To] be welcomed with open arms has been such a dream come true for us," Courtney says. "We just love the holiday season and to celebrate it at Radio City, I feel like I can't imagine anything better."

Sofia stopped by the Therapuss podcast to chat with host Jake Shane about motherhood and talked about little Eloise's latest development. According to PEOPLE,, Shane revealed, "Eloise has a little baby phone, that we get to text, or I like to text." Though she can't respond just yet, Sofia told listeners that "whoever is with Eloise gets the phone."

Shane then joked about a mini 'heated' exchange he and Eloise had via text. "I said, ‘Eloise do you mind if me and your mommy talk about how perfect you are on the podcast today?’ And she said, ‘No, keep my name out of your mouth.’ And I said, ‘Eloise, excuse me.’ She said, ‘I hate you.'"

Jokes aside, Sofia is embracing being a mother. She told Shane that her "life makes sense now" because she's "never loved anything more." Also, she doesn't mind admitting she's "obsessed with her" and thinks Eloise is "perfect."

Sofia Richie told Vogue that she found out the exciting news very early on, at just four weeks. She was on a trip to Milan for Fashion Week for the Prada show (you know, just It Girl things) and felt sick throughout. Though she initially brushed it off as jet lag, she came back and took a test, given that she and her husband had been casually trying since April of 2023.

When that faint line came up, she sent Elliot to CVS and pick up more tests. When they all came positive, the excitement ensued! They decided to only share their news with their parents when they hit the eight-week mark. Sofia was very intentional about her decision to keep things private for a while, as pregnancy can be scary and she wanted to protect her space and mental health.

She says that Elliot is excited to be a girl-dad, especially because he grew up with lots of sisters.

The vibe is "cute and girly," and she's been collecting pieces for years that she's excited to pass down to her baby one day!

She wants to be her daughter's best friend in a way, and ultimately help guide her through life. TBH, it's giving Lorelai and Rory, and I'm all here for it! Richie recognizes the importance of balance in parenthood, hoping to strike the right blend of being protective without going overboard. She also wants to refrain from publicizing her child and wants her to have the option to be a private person.

Following our beloved Gilmore Girls and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Dan and Amy Sherman-Palladino's next series is Étoile, which is set at two world-famous ballet companies in New York City and Paris. When both companies run into some trouble, the decide to swap their most talented stars in a last-ditch effort to save themselves.

And based on the first set leaks from New York City, it looks like Étoile will definitely be packing on the drama. This short clip shows Luke Kirby standing outside Lincoln Center in a serious conversation (probably about the fate of his ballet company, TBH).

"Well, guess that plan for early retirement will have to wait," Dan and Amy said in a joint statement (via The Hollywood Reporter). "Instead, we’ve decided to embark on an international journey with an unbelievable group of players and the most talented ballet dancers in the world. We will sleep when we’re dead."

But this isn't the first time ASP has forayed into the world of ballet! Her ABC Family series Bunheads (which premiered on June 11, 2012) follows Michelle (Sutton Foster) who moves to her hometown of Paradise and starts working at her mother-in-law's dance studio The Paradise Dance Academy.

The best part is that the role of Michelle's mother-in-law is played by Emily Gilmore herself, Kelly Bishop!

When does Étoile premiere?

We don't have an official release date yet, but considering THR recently revealed the show will finish filming soon, we're hoping to see Étoile in 2025. Just like Gilmore Girls is the ultimate fall rewatch, maybe Étoile will be the ultimate winter rewatch!

Who's in the Étoile cast?

So far, we know that Étoile will star Luke Kirby, Gideon Glick, Camille Cottin, Simon Callow, Lou de Laâge, and David Alvarez. Yanic Truesdale, who played our favorite Gilmore Girls concierge Michel, has also joined the series as a recurring character! I'm so excited to see Yanic working with Amy Sherman-Palladino again — it's like a Gilmore Girls reunion!

What does Étoile mean?

Étoile translates to "star," and there are so many different connections here! We have the ballet stars themselves, but you also wish upon a star and reach for the stars when you're working towards a dream. If you ask me, Étoile is the perfect name for this series.

How many episodes does Étoile have?

The first season of Étoile will have eight episodes total, but considering Prime Video ordered two seasons, we'll definitely be getting more episodes.
