‘Bachelorette’ Season 14 Recap: The Most Cringeworthy/Swoon-Worthy Moments of Episode 2

Becca’s Bachelors really know how to ruin a party, huh? Episode two was a bumpy one for our season 14 Bachelorette, with lots of ups and downs — but more of the latter. So without further ado, here are the four most cringeworthy moments of the night, plus one swoon-worthy moment to redeem them all.

cringeworthy

Cringeworthy: Lincoln’s questionable obstacle-course win. Becca’s first group date involved an engagement obstacle course set up by none other than season 13 Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay and her fiancé, Bryan Abasolo. The challenges included running with a literal ball and chain attached to one leg, standing in ice water for a set amount of time (to symbolize cold feet), climbing a slippery slope, tossing a bouquet of flowers into a vase, searching for an engagement ring hidden inside a wedding cake, and then scooting down the aisle on bended knee to propose.

Lincoln was the first to pop the question to Becca, but the circumstances around his win were a little fishy. For one thing, he jumped out of the ice water way ahead of anyone else, even though they all jumped in at roughly the same time. And for another, there was some definite elbowing as he and David made their way down the aisle. We’re not saying he definitely cheated, but, well, the other guys are.

Cringeworthy: Connor’s reaction to the photo of Lincoln and Becca. As a reward for winning the obstacle course, Becca gave Lincoln a picture of them posing at the makeshift altar in their dirtied-up formalwear. Lincoln used it to rub his win in everyone’s faces, proudly displaying it next to the date rose in the center of the table and standing it back up anytime someone flipped it face-down. It wasn’t the most mature thing he could have done, but Connor escalated the situation in a big way when he grabbed the framed photo and threw it across the pool.

Lincoln of course told Becca about the incident, which forced Becca to have a talk with Connor. She rightly called him out on being too aggressive and said in no uncertain terms that she’s looking for a man who can be respectful and not stir up drama. (Hear that, every other guy in the mansion?)

Connor earned back some points at the end of the episode when he gave Becca a framed photo of himself from that night, for the express purpose of having her throw it across the pool to “get rid of that guy,” but still — red flag.

Cringeworthy: Colton’s revelation about his prior relationship with Tia Booth. Colton was part of group date number two, which involved a pretty intense game of dodgeball. But for Becca, the most painful moment of the date came later that night at the cocktail party, when Colton divulged that he had briefly dated her friend and former Bachelor costar Tia Booth before coming on The Bachelorette.

Everyone has a past, obviously, but Becca was thrown by the confession and visibly emotional for the rest of the night and into the next morning. She and Colton talked about it again at the pre-rose ceremony cocktail party, and she admitted that she didn’t want to invest in him until she could figure out how she felt about the whole awkward situation.

Cringeworthy: Jordan’s underwear stunt. Jordan, who mentions his modeling career almost every time he’s on screen, decided to shake things up at the cocktail party by stripping down to his boxers for his one-on-one time with Becca. (His exact words were: “Tick-tock, let’s make it rock.”) And when David accused him of trying to get attention, his response was: “He’s calling me out for trying to get attention? I wore my underwear. That’s not me trying to get attention.”

Just… why?

swoon-worthy

Swoon-worthy: Blake and everything about his date with Becca. Thank goodness for Blake. His one-on-one date with Becca was one of the few high points of the episode, and not just because they got to take sledgehammers to the remnants of her relationship with Arie. (That couch had to go.)

Blake and Becca have a really natural chemistry together, and that was clear in every moment of their date. Nothing felt too forced or awkward, and he didn’t seem to have any trouble opening up right away, which is crucial when you only have a few weeks to get to know someone.

roses

Blake got a date rose, obviously, as did Jean Blanc (on group date number one) and Wills (on group date number two). At the rose ceremony, Becca gave boutonnieres to Chris, Jason, John, Clay, Mike, Connor, Leo, David, Garrett, Nick, Ryan, Christon, Jordan, Lincoln, and Colton. That left Alex, Rickey, and Trent without roses.

We’d like to award a few roses, too, to Lil Jon, who deejayed Becca and Blake’s demolition date; Fred Willard, who provided color commentary for the dodgeball game; and the three ruthless kids who coached the guys before the dodgeball game. (We laughed out loud when the little girl yelled, “You guys are turtles!” as they ran around the gym.)

Just like the perfect batch of cookies, the perfect TV show boils down to a fine-tuned recipe: a witty script, amazing producers, and a cast that might as well have been written in the stars. Well, even though we don't have much information about Apple TV's new limited series Lucky, we do know Anya Taylor-Joy and Drew Starkey will star in the project, with Reese Witherspoon at the helm. And TBH...that's all I need to know.

Here's everything we know about Reese Witherspoon's Lucky, starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Drew Starkey.

In 'Lucky,' Anya Taylor-Joy has a MAJOR secret.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Lucky, based on Marissa Stapley's book of the same name, is a Reese's Book Club pick that follows a young woman named Lucky (Anya Taylor-Joy) who said goodbye to the life of crime she'd always known. But when she's faced with her past, she has to turn back to her training one last time.

In addition to Anya (who's also executive producing), we'll see Drew Starkey as her onscreen husband Cary, as well as Annette Bening, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Timothy Olyphant. And the series will be brought to life by Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine (which is behind The Morning Showand The Last Thing He Told Me).

“Hello Sunshine continues to do a fantastic job of championing women’s voices and I’m thrilled to be joining the team alongside Jonathan, Cassie and Apple TV+ to bring Lucky to life,” Anya Taylor-Joy told Apple TV.

“Reese’s Book Club began with the goal of deepening connections — to the stories, to the storytellers and to the community we are building,” Reese Witherspoon added. “It is incredibly rewarding to be able to amplify these female-centric stories and their authors, see our community connect with them, then see them take on a whole new life on screen. We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Apple TV+ and the incomparable Anya Taylor-Joy, plus our brilliant creator Jonathan Tropper and his wonderful co-showrunner Cassie Pappas, to bring this compelling series — based on Marissa Stapley’s fantastic novel — to audiences around the world.”

We don't have a release date yet, but stay tuned for the latest news on Lucky!

Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick return in our first Another Simple Favor trailer! And when Blake’s character Emily shows up at Stephanie’s (Anna Kendrick) book reading, Steph asks the question I’ve wondered all along: how is Emily out of jail? Of course, Emily ignores the question and instead asks Stephanie to be her maid of honor. WHAT.

Keep reading for our breakdown of the Another Simple Favor trailer before the movie drops on Prime Video May 1.

Blake Lively haunts Anna Kendrick in 'Another Simple Favor' trailer.

Another Simple Favor, of course, sees the return of Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, but we'll also see Henry Golding, Bashir Salahuddin, Alex Newell, Andrew Rannells, Aparna Nancherla, and Kelly McCormack.

The main thread throughout the story is how Emily feels about Stephanie stealing her life…and despite the fact she doesn’t say she’s out for revenge, I totally think Stephanie needs to watch her back. We also finally get a really good look at Em's lush Italian wedding, and I'm not surprised that she's gone all out for the big day. If there's one thing Emily loves, it's a statement.

Another Simple Favor was briefly touched by Blake Lively’s It Ends With Us controversy when rumors claimed A Simple Favor 2 had been postponed.

"Despite glowing test screenings, Blake Lively’s refusal to promote—amid her messy legal battle with Justin Baldoni—and growing tensions with Anna Kendrick have derailed the sequel," X user Eric B tweeted on January 10. "Anna is furious. Paul Feig is disappointed. Hollywood is in shock. This isn’t just a movie—it’s an implosion."

"This is total BS. Sorry," Paul said in his retweet that same day. "The movie is finished and coming out soon. Don’t believe anything you read on social media these days." Whew! I can't wait to see Another Simple Favor when it hits Prime Video on May 1. Stay tuned for the latest updates!

Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is back for another season of snooping and stalking in New York City, and thanks to the new You season 5 trailer, we know exactly when this new TV show is returning. In addition to showing us characters from the past like Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail), Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), and Marienne Bellamy (Tati Gabrielle), Joe straight-up says goodbye to the one person who's always been there: you. Yep, Netflix went there.

“Every season they manage to find new space to make it interesting and relevant,” Penn Badgley told Tudum. “And this season, I think somehow coming back to where it started allowed for it to just become grounded in the way that it needs to also have this kind of spectacular finish.”

Here's the latest update on Penn Badgley's You season 5.

The You season 5 trailer teases the beginning of the end.

The official You season 5 trailer talks about a universal truth: the fact that love tests us. (Gosh, don't I know it.) And TBH, it kind of just reemphasizes that Joe is cuh-razy.

We also get a look at his new love interest Kate, and hear that this "is the last time" Joe's going to be tested. Run girl!!

"Hello, you. Do you remember me? Cause I remember you," Joe asks in the You season 5 teaser, over shots of New York City and Mooney's Books. "Here we are together again, back to where it began."

"A lot has happened these many years together," he continues. "Identities, cities, loves, complications." The trailer is a walk down memory lane for viewers and for Joe as he remembers Beck, Love, and Marienne — and locking them up. Plus some fights and escapes he made along the way.

"All that led me here to now, to where I as always meant to be," he says. "And the one constant, the one thing that has always been there for me, is you. You who have been there the whole time and will be there with me to the end. Goodbye, you."

Okay, this is totally giving me Black Mirror, metaverse vibes, especially since Joe's in his creepy underground bunker with all that blue lighting. I have chills down my spine just watching this!

Is season 5 of You coming out?

Yes, You season 5 is dropping on Netflix April 24, 2025.

We've been waiting for new episodes since season 4 premiered in 2023, but the writers and stars have been planning Joe's ending for much longer. "We have some ideas that we've been talking about pretty much from the beginning," Sera Gamble told EW when she was showrunner in 2023. "It's really the debate about what kind of justice would be fair and appropriate for a guy like Joe. And then do we believe that he would get that kind of punishment? My short answer is like, maybe not from the American system. But there might be other ways. So that's the stuff we're talking about."

But whatever these writers and directors have up their sleeves, Penn Badgley promises You season 5 will come to a "perfect" conclusion. “I would love for people to just be like, ‘Wow, it’s over and I feel good and I don’t want to watch it again,'" he told Harper's Bazaarin March of 2023. And honestly, a perfect ending is all TV fans can hope for these days, right?

Who's in the You season 5 cast?

The final season of You stars Penn Badgley, Madeline Brewer, Anna Camp, Charlotte Richie, and Griffin Matthews.

Are you excited for the final season of You? I cannot wait to see the way Penn Badgley and Netflix bring the show to a close. Follow us on Facebook for the latest You season 5 news — and updates on all your favorite TV shows!

Kitchens are already one of the most used rooms in the house, accumulating clutter in all kinds of ways.

In the past, interior designers and homeowners alike tried to compensate for never-ending storage needs by installing upper kitchen cabinets that extended to the ceiling. Now, however, it appears this trend is dying out.

Not only is all that extra cabinetry expensive, but it can also cause kitchens to appear clunky, overfilled, or top-heavy. Plus, they cast shadows and may make the space appear darker and smaller.

This doesn't bode well with the latest home design trends, which emphasize open spaces with a lighter vibe. So, more and more people are opting to install other, more modern storage solutions.

Here's what we know about upper kitchen cabinets — & what's replacing them.

What's Replacing Upper Kitchen Cabinets?

Wayfair

First, you might be wondering what you'd do with all that empty space on your kitchen walls. Don't worry: it's not just going to remain bare.

Instead, open shelving — like these shelves from Wayfair — has become the go-to decor choice. It still affords you storage space but with a playful twist. This parallels the direction that numerous homeowners have been heading– moving away from their kitchen looking, well, just like a kitchen and infusing more personality into their unique space.

West Elm

Think about it: your living room may have a typical couch and TV, like most homes, but it probably isn't a cookie-cutter replica of anyone else's house. You have knick-knacks, artwork, lighting fixtures, and other furniture that you've hand-picked and curated into your very own collection.

Of course, kitchens will always be used for cooking, and they should remain functional. At the same time, though, many homeowners recognize that if they spend so much of their lives in this room, it should almost be an extension of the rest of their decor, like with these shelves from West Elm!

Amazon

That's precisely why open shelving is taking over. It affords you the ability to customize your kitchen to the max, adding anything from antique dishware, cool cooking tools, and vintage mugs to funky cutting boards or cookbooks as decor.

And by giving yourself the opportunity to decorate on a vertical plane, you're opening up a ton of counter space that might've otherwise felt cluttered and, again, dark due to upper kitchen cabinet shadows.

While this might sound great, you may still be concerned about all those pots and pans that are currently stacked in your cabinets. Luckily, there are other more practical storage solutions you can integrate alongside open shelving.

Wayfair

Pantries are a great option. You can transform a broom closet to store your extra dry goods and cookware. Or, infuse your kitchen with even more character by picking up a vintage armoire and using it as an unexpected pantry.

Your lower cabinets can get an upgrade as well. Many homeowners are opting for deeper kitchen drawers, meaning they can hold more pots and pans, as well as shelves that are tiered and roll out.

Amazon

It's important to remember that everyone's space (and amount of kitchenware) is different, so being thoughtful is key. Consider how much storage you really need, say goodbye to anything that's no longer serving a purpose, and get creative.

One thing is certain: you won't miss having to drag out the stepstool or stand on your tip-toes to access those hard-to-reach upper kitchen cabinets anymore.
