Beach hair is on the rise, which means that beach hats are too! We are seeing tons of style icons rocking beautiful hats, so we rounded up four ways to update your go-to pick the next time you're headed to your family vacay. And guess what!? All of these projects cost under $5! Bonus — we also have a way to stiffen your floppy hat that got too floppy last season.
When going to the beach, always remember your hat and SPF!
We rounded up old beach hats that were all different shapes, colors, and sizes.
Use hot glue to attach the pom-pom trim to the underside of the hat.
Wait, it’s done?! YUP!
Choose a wild color for the pom-pom to bring life to your old hat.
No need to take off old embellishments. Leave them on to create a one-of-a-kind piece.
We weren't impressed by the old black ribbon hugging our beach hat, so we decided to update it to our favorite color — teal!
We measured the ribbon along the bowl of the hat, sewed on our toggle clasp, and then sewed the gem onto the center of the ribbon.
BBBB — Bright belts are better than black.
We think this is the perfect hat to wear to an all-white party. =) Break the rules just a little.
Trace and cut out the circumference of your hat.
Turn the hat over and gently trace the inside circle. Then cut it out to create a donut shape.
Trace and cut out the bonding material.
First, iron the bonding material to the fabric, peel off the paper side and then iron on to the under side of the hat.
Peek-a-boo.
Kentucky Derby, here we come! Surprise! Everyone is going to love the hidden pattern underneath your brim.
Printed Pineapple

Draw a pineapple onto the foam, cut out and glue onto the wooden block. Cut out two or three pineapples and layer them on top of each other. This will make the print come out cleaner.
Stamp that pineapple all over your hat! Sadly, due to the crevices of the hat, you will have to go back and fill in the printed shape.
Use the black paint pen to add the cross-hatching detail.
Pineapples might be the best fruit out there.
If fruit isn’t your thing, try dots, triangles, or flowers!
