16. Assembly Home Triangle Side Table ($98): This little table is so simple and is just the right size for holding your morning coffee.

17. Sigurd Bench ($79): More seating never hurt anyone. Especially when you’re trying to close those favorite tiny buckle shoes and hold a baby and your phone at the same time.

23. Industrial Task Table Lamp ($50): More and more often, these classic desk lamps are showing up on bedside tables. It makes sense, though, that you’d want your light on your book and not your sleeping partner.

24. Geo-Tile Vanity Mirror ($68): You’ll definitely feel like a princess looking into this ornate looking glass.

25. Cookie Collection Nightstand ($91): Simple is as simple does, and boy does it do it good.

26. Eva Colored Glass Table Lamp ($99): While it would be easy to use these gorgeous table lamps in the living room, steal them for your own nightstand.

27. Rolling Clothing Rack ($89): Some clothes are just too pretty to put away. Display your fine fabrics on this steel clothing rack for all to see.

28. Selje Nightstand ($30): When in doubt, choose blue. Blue is always the best color.

29. Koppang 3 Drawer Chest ($99): A white chest will go with anything. And just think about all the pretty Anthropologie knobs you could use to dress it up.

30. Space Age Table Lamp ($74): Doesn’t this lamp say midcentury to you? It does to us. Especially when it’s in bright orange.

31. Assembly Home Adele Chevron Duvet Cover ($69): Chevron, arrows, whatever you want to call them, this duvet cover is perfect for summer naps and winter snuggling.

32. Chevron Bone Side Table ($99): Yes, it’s another chevron piece. But how cool is that light and dark bone pattern?

33. Wire Basket ($85): Just imagine this basket heaping with pillows, fluffy blankets or your favorite magazines. We think we need one now, too.

34. Lack Side Table ($10): You just can’t beat the price and opportunity of this side table. Whether using the original or hacking your own piece, it will gladly accommodate your books and earrings at night.

35. Modern Handmade Lamp ($55): Add this soft accent light to give your room a romantic setting. With string and glue, maybe you can even make one yourself.

36. Acrylic Bed Tray ($80): Sometimes, you just need breakfast in bed. And you can’t do that without a trusty tray.

37. Spool Side Table ($98): Of all the minty gloriousness! This nightstand is probably the cutest we’ve ever seen.

38. Geodesic Table Lamp ($99): We love geo yes we do. We love geo, how about you?

39. Micke Desk ($50): Buy it, paint it, contact paper it, put some color on that desk and it will steal the show in your bedroom.

40. DIY Geometric Headboard: Maybe you’re in the mood for a little DIY. Here’s a headboard you can make under $100. (via Apartment Therapy)

As an admirer of clean Scandi design, I love to mix IKEA items with more treasured pieces to make my home look more authentically me. My aesthetic is minimal, but also warm and colorful and happy and inviting. I'm a firm believer a home can be all of these things, and they are hallmarks of modern Scandinavian design, seen especially as you stroll the floors of IKEA.

From hooks to storage to furniture to food – the designers at IKEA think of everything. Literally, everything. And their price points are pretty remarkable too. On my last trip, I started to feel like I may be evolving out of the IKEA furniture phase that lasted through my 20s and 30s, but there are still some tried-and-true products that I will always shop for, and that still exist in my home. Here are my IKEA favorites, plus a few items I avoid for reasons I'll share below. Happy decorating!

IKEA

RIBBA Frame

IKEA is a steal for frames compared to other frame or custom frame shops. I have been using the Ribba frame for years for large-scale prints, gallery walls, and photo-sized frames. Mix them with vintage frames and trinkets like above to add character and a little soul to your space.

IKEA

FLÅDIS Basket

I use these seagrass baskets everywhere to store and hide unsightly things like laundry supplies, my daughter's toys, and even to cover planters. They're collapsible and under $10!

IKEA

TORNVIKEN Kitchen Island

I was searching for a kitchen island forever until I came upon this oak one and I love it! I get compliments on it all the time from guests who are surprised it's from IKEA. There's roomy storage on the shelves on one side and legroom on the other side for bar stools. I chose Serena & Lily barstools to give the look an upgrade.

IKEA

BLANDA MATT Bamboo Serving Bowl

This bamboo bowl and serving set is perfect for serving big salads while entertaining.

IKEA

HILDEGUN Dish towel

I grab a few of these every time I visit IKEA. They have a French country vibe and work as dish towels or dinner napkins. The 79 cents is kind of an insane price too.

IKEA

ULLERSLEV Sheepskin

This real sheepskin is the soft texture every cozy home needs. I have one draped over my daughter's desk chair, but they also look great on a dining bench or in a reading nook.

IKEA

BERGPALM Duvet Cover and Pillowcases

These striped duvet cover sets are a great cotton canvas for guest, kid, and master beds. I love that they come with two shams, and I'll top them with a printed quilt from Coyuchi or patterned pillows from Coterie Brooklyn to elevate the look.

IKEA

FJÄLLARNIKA Duvet Insert

IKEA is also great for duvet inserts. I say go with a mid- to higher-range here for one that has some weight and comfort.

IKEA

IVRIG Glass

Stemless wine glasses, which is what I use these for, are also ideal for water and juice!

IKEA

STOCKHOLM Mirror

Mirrors can be so expensive! Why?! I use this walnut veneer mirror in my bedroom, just above a walnut dresser. Love the 24-inch size.

IKEA

JÄMLIK Scented Tealight

I bring a few of these out for dinner parties. The sweet vanilla scent isn't overpowering and the candles give just enough light to make it feel like a cozy and intimate occasion.

IKEA

LAGKAPTEN Tabletop

I've been using this tabletop for more than 10 years! It started as a sewing table with MITTBACK trestle legs and now works as my WFH desk, holding my printer on one of the trestle legs. My daughter has an IKEA desk too that we swapped with HILVER bamboo cone-shaped legs for a modern look.

IKEA

LACK Wall Shelf

I've used these floating shelves for forever too. For kitchen shelves in my junior one bedroom in San Francisco a decade ago and now in my daughter's playroom to hold all of her Legos.;)

IKEA

MÅLERÅS Picture Ledge

I use these picture ledges in the kitchen to hold my IKEA wine glasses, a beautiful paddle cutting board from Crate & Barrel, and a small plant.

IKEA

ÄNDLIG 3-piece knife set

These IKEA knives, also a long-term purchase, stay sharp, are comfortable to use, and are great for everyday use!

IKEA

BUMERANG Hanger

Finally, these IKEA hangers are affordable and look great to streamline your closet decor. No wire hangers here!

IKEA Items I Avoid

IKEA

I tend to avoid the more popular items from IKEA, such as the best-selling POÄNG Armchair. If you have one, no judgement! It's a great chair. I have a kid's one in my daughter's playroom that we inherited. But I've slowly invested in more quality pieces that feel unique and bring my joy when I walk into my main spaces.

Here are a few items I avoid:

IKEA has a lot of great mattresses, but a $100 mattress doesn't quite feel like a hundred bucks. I purchased the ÅSVANG Foam Mattress for my daughter's IKEA bunk bed, and maybe because of the slats below, it is SO uncomfortable. We use it to hold her stuffies for now and plan to add an extra foam cushion above.

I've never liked IKEA's fleece-like throw blankets made of recycled polyester. They just don't have a lot of substance and the material doesn't feel as good quality as I'd like it too.

Finally, a $10 floor lamp is going to look like a $10 floor lamp (home snob, here, sorry!). The BARLAST Floor lamp or similar is a no-go in my decor book.

Do you know that feeling you had as a kid, where you would read a new book or see a new movie, and it was like you were being transported to an entirely new world? I remember finding a new book, and getting so easily transfixed by the writing, that it felt like I was I was in it! Returning to those childhood books can bring back that of childlike wonder — where there are endless possibilities and new worlds to uncover — and feel reuniting with an old friend after years apart!

I've re-read those old childhood classics as a practice in escaping stress, making my inner child feel seen, and re-igniting that childlike imagination and wonder! So, I thought I would compile a list for you of my favorite children's books to re-readfor all that inspiration you loved then, and maybe just forgot about. 😉 Nothing beats coming back to a book like this one as an adult, and seeing the themes, and metaphors that you may have missed the first time.

Amazon

The Little Princeby Antoine de Saint Exupery

This book is filled to the brim with childlike wonder and imagination; so much so, that I remember being mystified and slightly confused by it. But I loved it nonetheless, and would paint the illustrations all day long.

The Little Prince is a beautiful book about friendship, loneliness, and working to make up for your actions. This incredibly astute story will teach you so much about what it means to be a true friend and overall, a good human. One of my favorite themes of the book, though, has to be the creativity and wonder of children. I hope reading this book as an adult will re-ignite some of that wonder in you!

Amazon

Matilda by Roald Dahl

Roald Dahl creates the most incredible worlds in his books that truly transport you and make you feel so much. This book, in particular, made me feel so seen as a child — and it did the exact same thing as an adult! Matilda is a sweet young girl whose light gets dimmed by her unbearable parents and mean principal. But, one day, she learns that her superpower is her brain and the ability to fight back at those who are mean to us! Maltida ultimately shows everyone that they, too, can stand up for themselves and be their own hero! And the original movie is just as good as the book!

Amazon

The BFG by Roald Dahl

I had to add in another amazing Roald Dahl book, because I just can't get enough! Through The BFG, Roald teaches us to not lose our childlike optimism in always seeing the best in others. He also shows us that kindness will always win, and when you work together, there's nothing you can't accomplish! I love how inspiring this story is!

Amazon

The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

I think we were all equally transfixed by this book, especially the incredible world created by C.S. Lewis. Although this book has quite a lot of religious themes, outside of that it also shows us how children explore, follow their imagination, and fight hard for those they love. This book (and movie) is sure to get your imagination and wonder to run wild! Plus, we're getting a Greta Gerwig adaptation at some point — YAY!

Amazon

Oh, The Places You'll Go! by Dr. Suess

Anytime I pick this up, I immediately begin a somewhat therapeutic, somewhat inconsolable sob session. It's honestly such a phenomenal book that has meant so much to me over the years. Oh, The Places You'll Go! is a story that helps remind you what you're capable of and all that you can accomplish if you simply believe and have faith in yourself, no matter what highs or lows come your way! Because who knows the places you could go! (Am I tearing up writing this? Maybe!)

Amazon

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll

Lewis Carroll created a delightful and enchanting universe filled with magical, and potions, and mysterious Cheshire cats. The main theme in this book is the exploration and freedom to be curious as a child. It's that same curiousity, imagination, and need for discovery that we should carry into our adult lives — even when it feels like we should be serious and buttoned up. Ultimately, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland will be a fun reading experience, as well as open your eyes to be "curiouser and curiouser."

Amazon

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

The Secret Garden shows Mary as she unlocks a secret garden and begins to form friendships with those around her after her parents passed. This storyemphasizes an important main message of healing in its many forms, and that maybe we all need to find a "secret garden" of our own to find some inner peace. Truly, it's such a great reminder of how we should carry ourselves and treat others, the power of positive thinking, and the importance of keeping an open mind.

Amazon

Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson

I distinctly remember reading this when I was little, and then seeing the movie afterwards. First, I had a huge crush on Josh Hutcherson. Second, I firmly believed that I could accomplish the same creating-other-worlds powers as they did. It was magical, and I really believed it could be possible in my life — which is so endearing! Third, the ending absolutely crushed me. But regardless of the many tears I shed, this is a story filled with endless possibilities and the power of your imagination, and how to channel that into your real life. Terabithia can be anywhere!

Amazon

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling

What's crazy, is that millions of adults all over the world could tell you how they were completely changed by reading Harry Potter as a kid. There was truly no greater feeling than staying up late with your flash light, dying to see what action-packed adventure Harry and his friends went through next. These books practically raised me! I re-read them a couple years ago, and it brought so much joy into my life.

While this is the second book in the seven book series, every Harry Potter story highlights the importance of bravery, standing up for what's right, and staying true to yourself.

Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans

In an old house in Paris
that was covered with vines
lived twelve little girls
in two straight lines
the smallest one was Madeline.

I'll never forget reading this as a kid, and dreaming of Paris! I recently re-read the book, after having visited Paris, and it made me so grateful to accomplish my childhood dreams of seeing the dreamy streets of France. This is one of those books that I'll re-visit time and time again, as a loving reminder that little me would be so proud of where we are in life! This whimsical book is sure to whisk you away on an adventure in your mind (and potentially make you want to go to Paris ASAP).

For those of us who are passionate about design and decorating, of course, we want our homes to look stylish and put-together, but sometimes life gets in the way and our homes start to look a little neglected. I bought my home four years ago and I'm starting to notice smudges on the walls (lots of 'em), furniture that could use an upgrade, clutter where I never intended, and a lack of cohesion from room to room. This is all to say, no shame if you're guilty of making a few home decor mistakes – we've all been there! But if you're looking to make a few upgrades, here's where you can start, without spending a ton of money. Lighting, maintenance, and just clearing up clutter can make a huge difference in how your home looks, from rags to riches.;)

Home Decor Mistakes Making Your Space Look Cheap

Dated Lighting

Instead: Look For Sculptural Lighting

Let's start from the top. Sometimes a simple upgrade like new lighting can make such an impact in the room, instantly giving it a more upscale look. Statement lighting in sculptural shapes are on trend and timeless. Think in levels too -- from ceiling to table lamps to create ambience. Too harsh or too dim can make a room feel uninviting and drab too so pay attention to lighting in a room before you completely overhaul it.

Cramped, Cluttered Spaces

Instead: Be Selective With Furniture And Decor

Less is more when it comes to looking elegant, and frankly, not cheap. Remove anything that doesn't feel right in a space (you may find a better spot for it later) and start with the bare minimum. Now start to fill it with furniture and decor that fits the space well and looks like they pair well. Overfilled rooms can make them look cramped and chaotic, and too much decor or mess can create visual clutter, which is not inviting.

Mismatched Styles

Instead: Create A Point Of View

As a home decor enthusiast, I love almost all of it: art deco, modern, vintage, all the trends. Not to say, these trends can't all go together – they totally can! But create a space where they all work together so it feels cohesive. Make sure furniture works well with each other (even ask design advice from retailers). If you add art deco elements to a modern space, keep that thread going throughout the home with similar shapes, materials and textures (without going overboard). Start with an idea, pair down to the necessities, and slowly add what feels right.

Old Paint, Broken Anything

Instead: Keep Up With Repairs

Walls with chipped or peeling paint can make a home look neglected so a fresh coat is always a good idea after three or so years. Fix broken fixtures too like light switches, faucets, or doorknobs to keep your home from looking old and unkempt.

Cheap Materials

Photo: Shutterstock

Instead: Opt For Natural Materials

Synthetic materials like polyester and nylon can appear low-end so use them sparingly. Of course, there are sometimes budget concerns but opting for a few quality linens, upholstery, or real wood furniture can elevate your home.

Dated Fixtures

Photography by Joao Canziani | Design: Arterberry Cooke,

Instead: Upgrade faucets, knobs, and handles

My mom was ready to remodel her whole bathroom until I told her that it was fine — she just needed to upgrade her faucet. She did and was so happy with the results. Something as small as a new bathroom faucet, kitchen handles, or new doorknobs can bring your home on trend and help eliminate embarrassing home decor mistakes.

Rental Blinds

Shutterstock

Instead: Don't Treat Windows As An Afterthought

While I do love the bare window look, it can sometimes make a room feel unfinished, especially if the windows are not new. As a renter, I couldn't stand the look of cheap rental blinds too. I'd remove them, make my own shades, and reinstall them when I moved out. Using flimsy or outdated blinds can ruin a perfectly beautiful room. It's like the final accessory to complete the look!

Lack of Scale And Proportion

Photo: Nils Timm

Instead: Create Balance

Area rugs should extend beyond the sofa and not be too small compared to the size of the room. Find furniture that fits the space and hang artwork that balances the room vs. puts it off kilter. This room by L.A. design firm House of Rolison feels harmonious and complete.

Generic Decor

Photo: Nils Timm | Design: House of Rolison

Instead: Add Personal Touches

Using generic, mass-produced decor items can make a home feel impersonal and bland. Create a sense of space and character by incorporating personal touches, such as family photos or unique decor and art pieces.

Overly Themed Rooms

Instead: Scale Back On Thematic Pieces

Overdoing a specific theme, such as nautical or rustic, can feel kitschy and less sophisticated. Instead, use elements of a theme sparingly, like this woodland-themed kids room that features an animal print and little trinkets on a shelf for an adorable touch.

From the first time we saw Jonathan Bailey swagger onto the scene as Anthony Bridgerton, we've been fixated on his role as the eldest Bridgertonbrother, with fans constantly eager to know more about him.

He's business savvy, cares deeply about his family, and has the same charisma we imagine Edmund Bridgerton must've had. He was deemed a bit of a womanizer given his inability to commit in romantic relationships — here's thinking of you, Siena. But, once we found out whyAnthony was so scared, and watched him overcome those fears with Kate, we got to see Anthony at his all-around best — and it's the sexiest character redemption arc we've seen recently.

Well, anyone who's wondered if we'll see even more of Jonathan Bailey as Anthony Bridgerton can breathe a sigh of relief because he just confirmed he's returning to season 4! Here are all the exciting details about his comeback — plus all our fun guesses about what he and Kate have been up to after announcing their pregnancy in season 3!

What has Jonathan Bailey said about Anthony's return?

Liam Daniel/Netflix

Jonathan Bailey as Anthony Bridgerton in Bridgerton

Jonathan Bailey is super excited to return to Bridgerton season 4! He told Good Morning America, "I have a couple of weeks etched out in my schedule for returning" and that he can't wait to start "reading the scripts."

This comes after reports of Bailey scoring the lead role in Richard II which will be in production starts February 10 and ends May 10 (via Variety). He's going to be busy man next year — and thank god for us because we love all the chances we can get to see him on screen more!

Will Anthony Bridgerton have a main storyline in Bridgerton season 4?

Liam Daniel/Netflix

Given what we know about Bridgerton season 4, it's unlikely we'll see Anthony in a ton of scenes. The focus will be on Benedict Bridgerton and his discovery of himself, his life's purpose, and an interesting love interest.

Though one aspect of the show has been changed — Francesca and Michaela's romantic interest — Jonathan said the show will "follow the stories" (via Bustle). This should come as another welcomed asset because some people were upset that Bridgerton's new showrunne, Jess Brownell, made changes that didn't 'authentic.'

Is Simone Ashley returning as Kate Sharma for season 4?

Liam Daniel/Netflix

It hasn't been confirmed if Simone Ashley is returning to season 4, but she's previously talked about how much she'd love to! "Both Johnny and I, we adore our characters, Kate and Anthony, so much and their relationship and what they mean for the show,” she shared (via People).

Although we can address how heartbreaking it was for Kate to break Edwina's heart (Charithra Chandran), it was hard to deny the fire and depth she brings into Anthony's life.

How did Anthony and Kate Bridgerton finish season 3?

Liam Daniel/Netflix

Bridgerton season 3 focused on the development of Colin and Penelope's love story, but our beloved Anthony and Kate made appearances too. Of course we live for their steamy scenes, but the announcement of their pregnancy made everyone giddy. However, their story ends on a cliffhanger because it's hinted to two could possibly move to India so their baby could know more about Kate's heritage.

Jess Brownell offered a little more insight about this a couple of months ago, and it leaves room for where we could see our favorite couple. "I think the strength of sending them off to India for a little while is that it does leave the door open for them to come back, schedules allowing...We love Jonny and Simone, and we'll have them back as much as we are able to," she told Teen Vogue.

In May Jonathan opened up to Jimmy Fallon about how it felt to return to season 3. "It's like going back home! Cause obviously every year it's a different love story. Luke and Nicola are gonna be extraordinary. It's such and incredible thing."

What do we think Anthony and Kate Bridgerton will be doing in season 4?

Liam Daniel/Netflix

We're obviously rooting for a Kate and Anthony Bridgerton spinoff, but that's still TBD! Like other fans, we're feeling particular about what we'd like to see because we don't want to see their storyline rushed.

Based on the way Bridgerton season 3 ended, we speculate the couple will possibly spend time in India with Kate and Edwina's family. We could see them focusing on the birth of baby Bridgerton-Sharma and adjusting to life as new parents.

Both possibilities can add more layers to their relationship as Anthony would not only have to adjust to being a new father, but he'd had to get used to being in a new country away from his family. At the same time, Kate would also be grappling with being a new mom so it would be interesting to see if she'll deal with things like postpartum depression or the pressure placed on moms, especially during that time.
