Beginner’s Guide to Finding Paleo Diet Recipes

Whether you are just beginning to research Paleo eating or have started to cook your own Paleo meals, you’ve likely learned that finding good recipes can make or break your ability to stick with the program. One of the biggest challenges for Paleo newbees is breakfast. Having eaten the Standard American Diet (SAD) for so many years, our palates are just not accustomed to excluding dairy, grains, legumes (including peanuts), sugar and unhealthy oils (sunflower, safflower, etc.) and additives. The list can be a tall order, and almost guarantees we’re cooking 90% of our own meals at home, with meat and vegetables front and center. Newcomers quickly tire of egg dishes. So, here are 13 paleo breakfasts that are not eggs. Warning: If you are strict paleo, a couple of these will not be strictly compliant. But others, like the hemp seed porridge, will be a welcome treat for those who miss hot cereal.

There are a handful of bloggers who make Paleo cooking look easy for newbees. They seem to read our minds and offer not only an array of Paleo-friendly versions of our old favorite recipes but also meal planning tips. These are our go-to sites for tasty Paleo recipes.

Nom Nom Paleo

Working mom Michelle Tam has a degree in nutrition and a lot of practical advice that’s perfect for jump-starting Paleo newbees — from her comic-book Paleo 101 to her slow cooker and pressure cooker recipes to her lunchbox series. Michelle is cooking for a family, so her recipes are practical and tasty and always assumes you’ll want leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch. Her slow cooker grass-fed short ribs are fall-off-the-bone delicious. Michelle is not always “strict” Paleo, but she’ll tell you when she’s not.

WellFed

Mel Joulwan at WellFed has a way of channeling exactly what we are craving this week. Her “Five Paleo Dinners to Cook Next Week” series helps us plan ahead — sign up to get them sent to you via weekly email. Her fridge-brined The Best Chicken You Will Ever Eat really is. And don’t leave her site without bookmarking the plantains and lemon-garlic dipping sauce. Your family and friends will thank you every time you break this out, which will be all.the.time. We love her cook-once-eat-all-week approach.

Stupid, Easy Paleo

Steph Gaudreau started Stupid Easy Paleo as an alternative to sites that she saw springing up all over with so-called Paleo recipes for pancakes, muffins and banana breads. Her site’s premise is that it’s very easy to cook clean, delicious meals with just a few ingredients that are 100% paleo-compliant, no cheats. Her egg-based simple paleo tortillas are a lifesaver for anyone missing wraps to pull together quick lunches and dinners. We love how she labels all her Whole30 compliant recipes, for those times when we need to push our reset button.

Lexi’s Clean Kitchen

Lexi came to Paleo eating to fix some GI health issues, so many of her recipes are designed to avoid food allergens. Some are vegan and vegetarian as well. Her avocado BLT egg salad makes a great breakfast. She’s not always “strict” Paleo, but she’ll tell you when she’s not. Her beautifully shot instagrams will make you happy you are Paleo and you’ll not feel you’re missing a thing.

'Gilmore Girls' Star Keiko Agena Just Revealed How She REALLY Feels About Controversial Lane Kim

Gilmore Girls simply wouldn’t be the same without Lane Kim. Played by Keiko Agena, Lane is much more than just Rory’s best friend. She’s feisty, hilarious, and can totally keep up with Lorelai and Rory’s hectic conversations (something not EVERYONE in Stars Hollow can do cough Kirk cough). However, the actress recently revealed how she really feels about playing a complicated, and sometimes controversial character like Lane.

Here's what Keiko Agena had to say about playing Lane Kim on Gilmore Girls.

Even though Lane and Rory are inseparable throughout the series’ seven-season run, Keiko recently revealed she’s actually super close to two other Gilmore Girls cast members: John Cabrera (who played Brian) and Sean Gunn (who starred as our beloved Kirk)!

“There is this kind of lovely nostalgia for that time, and yet also we have years since then,” she says on a recent episode of the Dear Felicity rewatch podcast (via People). “I [have] gone to both of their weddings. Our friendship is part Gilmore Girls and appreciation for that crazy time, and then part just like a million other things.”

The insane nostalgia surrounding Gilmore Girls means that everyone has their own annual Gilmore Girls rewatch…and that as we get farther away from the 2000s, the more glaring some of the show’s choices are. Fans have been vocal about Lane’s story arc on the show (namely the fact she had to shelve her dreams of being a rockstar when she got pregnant), and Keiko herself has thought about it more critically in recent years.

“The best thing is to have a Korean American writer [and a] Korean American actor,” she says. “I don't think that that role, cast that way, would happen today. But at that time, in 2000, it was such a different time that I definitely know I wouldn't have said no or pulled myself out of that situation at that time...Now it's just a mix of just having gratitude for having gone through that experience and having that experience.”

But even with its flaws, no one can deny how special Stars Hollow and the Gilmores are — and how much Lane has meant for people. Brit + Co writer Aleena Malik notes how Lane's experiences "mirrored many of my own, and, at a time when there was such little Asian representation, this was extremely impactful."

“In a weird way, I feel like I want to honor the experience that people had from the show, and what it meant to them, especially young Asian people," Keiko Agena says. "Because I get that comment a lot, about what it was like for them to see someone like that on screen.”

“I think I'm at a transition point in my life where I have to let go of the pressure that I put on myself to be the best version of who it is that I think that you love,” she continues. “Because I love her too. I can tell, when I meet someone who knows Gilmore Girls or who loves Lane, it's like, I recognize that love. I see that you love that person.”

Mindy Kaling's Book Club Is The Reading List I Didn't Know I Needed

I thought I'd discovered all of the best celebrity book clubs this year, but writing about the new novels debuting in 2025 proved I haven't. I saw an upcoming book — a riveting story that reads like how Succession might unfold in a Black family — was was surprised to find Mindy Kaling's stamp of approval. She's one of the brilliant minds that wrote for The Office, one of the best fan-favorite NBC shows to date. Also, she gave the world six seasons of The Mindy Project and multiple seasons of The Sex Lives of College Girls, continuously proving that she's as great of an actress as she is a screenwriter or producer.

Knowing this, I think it pans out that the 8 books on her book club list have intricate stories and equally pretty covers for reading that feels attainable.

The Vibrant Years by Sonali Dev

Anyone would be happy to be a million dollars richer, but not Bindu Desai. She's shocked, but she's also dreading the discovering of something that happened when she was younger. Stuck with making odd choices left and right, Justin eventually meets Rose Yin. The ironic thing is that he discovers she lives in a time before he was born, meaning he's somehow landed himself back in time. And guess who's still alive at this point? His grandparents.

In order to get Justin back where he belongs, he and Rose have a short amount of time to figure out what could've cause this time jump. Also, they'll have to try to rewrite history by preventing something that triggers his grandparents' deaths.

With Geminis, they are referred to as the sign with “two faces.” When Natalie first meets the Prime Minister, she is nice and respectful…until she utters the word “fuck” right in front of him, which he makes him smile uncontrollably (and us too!). On one hand, Natalie can be shy, sweet and polite. But whenever she’s around someone she’s comfortable (i.e. her family), she has quite the potty mouth. Could it be her celestial twin peeking through?

And they are willing to protect the ones they love, which makes the Prime Minister’s remark toward the President of the United States (after he saw the commander in chief behaving inappropriately toward Natalie) that much more iconic.

Some may think Julie was unfaithful when ran up to Mark (AKA her husband’s best friend) and kissed him after professing his love through cue cards. And the same thing can be said for Julie, who kisses Mark after he confesses his love for her. Nevertheless, Libras are just lover girls/boys at heart.
