Growing My Man Bun, Week 2: Wait. I Have to Use Hair Products?!

Hey, hi, hello, yo, what’s up? Nothing much here just busy living my life doing the usual work, eating, socializing, getting in like one workout a week, Netflix/Real Housewives bingeing and cuddling with my boy + Boston Terrier routine. Oh yeah, and growing out a man bun. Because like I said, “I’m 24 and who knows how long these locks will last before my hair starts receding on me.”

After serving up some BTS scoop on why I chose the man bun life — (it didn’t choose me) — based on inspo from long-haired dudes like early ’00s David Beckham, SF men + even lil guys last week, this week I’m focusing on new hair experiences, aka actually using hair products. “LOL, what even are those?!” recently asked yours truly.

NGL, I’ve never really cared all that much about what beauty products I use. Luckily my boyfriend does — seriously, if only he would let me show you how many bars + bottles of soap we have. I can’t count how many times I’ve had to steer clear of LUSH and any bath + body store when we’re out shopping. To be fair, I’d be using only generic, cheap soaps, shampoos, etc if it wasn’t for him so I guess that interest is good for something. (PS: We’re using Shikai shower gels + hair products currently, FYI.) *Anyways* back to this bun-voyage and not my relationship woes ;)

Since I committed to the man bun I had my guy at the hair salon, Mario — who, just like my mom, was apprehensive about my hair journey; why so much bun hate, you guys?! — give me some tips around styling (aka taming) my naturally curly locks to make them cooperate with my growing bun post-trim. After years of my minimal routine of sticking some pomade or other random styling product in my hair to make it look acceptable for the day, I was ready to up my hair game. And learn a little in the process. Check out what Mario told me I should be doing v. what I’m actually doing below.

Stylist Advice: Mario recommended I should use a leave-in conditioner post-shower to soften, tame and hydrate my hair. He used Marula Oil Rare Oil Treatment at the salon, so I stuck with what I (now) knew and got a bottle of that. He also suggested I should brush + blowdry my hair after I run some of the oil through it to further help with smoothing it out. Finally, he suggested I show my locks a little hairspray love before I leave the house for the day. He said the combination of all these products on a daily basis would help tame those curly waves into a softer, sort-of-straight head of hair, perfect for my growing man bun.

What I’m Doing IRL: I take a shower at night, not before I head out the door in the AM. So post evening shower I towel dry my hair (sorry, no blowdryer in this house) then run Marula Oil Rare Oil Treatment through my hair and brush it real good to get any tangles and/or knots out of there. Then in the AM to help manage the bedhead that gets created over night, I run Olive Oil Incredibly Rich Moisturizing Hair Lotion through it and brush it before heading out the door either loosely styled or in a hair tie to show off my lil growing baby bun. Sorry Mario, I skip the hairspray and blow drying. But even though I’m not completely following the guidelines exactly my hair is starting to get longer and less out-of-control wavy, so that’s like a half win, right?

This past week I’ve gone from doing the minimum when it comes to hair care — shampoo + conditioner, a little pomade here and there — to adding multiple products to my routine. I’d call that a success on the road to the man bun, which will inevitably involve even more maintenance (hope I’m ready!). Until next week — when, fingers crossed, there’s some major length progress — leave any suggestions for me in the comments or tweet us @britandco. Trust me, I need all the help I can get ;)

The White Lotus' Chelsea and Rick are together forever — or at least, that’s what we thought. Rumors are swirling that The White Lotus cast members Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins are feuding IRL after the season finale. Why exactly does the internet think the duo are no longer the best of friends? We did some very important sleuthing to find out.

Here's everything we know about those Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins feud rumors.

They Don’t Follow Each Other On Instagram (Anymore?)

According to this Reddit thread, the pair unfollowed each other on Instagram a couple weeks ago. There’s some speculation that Goggins blocked Wood on the social media platform, due to the fact her activity on his profile (comments and likes from previous posts) have mysteriously disappeared. Comments from Goggins, however, are still available to view on Wood’s posts.

The second hint that something bad is afoot comes from Walton’s Instagram. The actor seemingly posts pictures with Aimee, but doesn’t tag her account like he does the other cast members. One example being this carousel post surrounding the finale, in which nearly every cast member is tagged but Aimee.

The second example being this emotional ode to his and Wood’s characters, which again, leaves out Aimee’s tag. However he did give her her flowers in the post by writing, “Thank you Aimee Lou for being my partner…a journey I will never forget.” So that one may be a bit of a leap.

Apparently, Walton Skipped The 'White Lotus' Finale Party

Goggins was also missing at the finale party, where the majority of the cast, including Aimee, watched the last episode together. The Sex Education actress told The Hollywood Reporter that she “was sad that Walton wasn’t there because it was something that we did together, but also it’s so f—king Rick and Chelsea.”

She added, “Like, of course Walton had to watch it alone and of course I had to watch it in the group because there is so much Aimee in Chelsea and so much Walton in Rick.”

Jason Isaacs Confirmed Behind-The-Scenes 'White Lotus' Cast Drama

In conjunction with all of this circumstantial Instagram evidence, Jason Isaacs did insinuate there was drama behind-the-scenes. The Harry Potter actor recently told Vulturein an interview, “Some people got very close, there were friendships that were made and friendships that were lost.” So, we’ll let you do with this information what you will. At least we'll always have Rick and Chelsea in our (broken) hearts.

Celebrity designer Francesca Grace is my latest design crush. Her vintage-eclectic aesthetic blends cottagecore charm with maximalist flair and a hint of European vintage glamour — and I swoon every time. Most recently, she staged a stunning four-bedroom, five-bathroom home in Palm Springs, drawing bold inspiration from the raw beauty of the desert landscape.

“My approach was to harmonize the home's contemporary architecture with eclectic, artful interiors," says Francesca. That she achieved, creating a space that feels both curated and soulful. With vibrant color, playful patterns, and richly textured materials, she infused the space with warmth and character and created a look that feels both timeless and refreshingly modern.

Here are 8 design ideas I'm loving from this Palm Springs home.

William Myers

Huge glass walls throughout the house blur the line between indoors and out, making the whole place feel super connected to nature. It’s a fresh take on desert living — grounded in its surroundings and full of personality.

1. Lean Into Cozy Seating

William Myers

It’s the kind of place that invites you to sink in, unwind, and soak up the desert calm. While Francesca paid homage to the spirit of Palm Springs, she intentionally steered away from the typical mid-century vibe, bringing something fresh and unexpected instead. “Drawing from my travels in France and Italy, I incorporated hues that evoke a sense of warmth and comfort, ensuring the interiors resonate with the desert landscape while maintaining a timeless appeal," says Francesca.

William Myers

The moment you step inside, it’s a stunning visual experience. Desert views are perfectly framed, while Francesca’s thoughtful use of color and sculptural furniture mirrors the rugged landscape and captures the magic of the desert light.

Here’s a peek at those spectacular indoor-outdoor views that give the home a serene, spa-like feel — and turn every window into a work of art.

2. Use An Earthy Palette

William Myers

The color scheme was influenced by the natural surroundings of Palm Springs and Francesca's affinity for earthy, rich tones. And that velvet platform bed? The curved edges make it feel extra inviting—so much softer and cozier than sharp lines.

3. Maximize Views

William Myers

This dreamy bathroom is beyond beautiful thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows that invite the desert in and an elegant design. "Floor-to-ceiling windows were left unadorned or dressed with minimal treatments to frame the natural beauty without obstruction," says Francesca.

William Myers

Even the walk-in closet comes with a picture-perfect view of the desert — because why not?

4. Embrace Natural Stone

William Myers

A bold marble sink adds just the right amount of edge to this neutral bathroom, keeping the design layered, luxe, and anything but boring.

5. Blend Textures

William Myers

Francesca sourced a boulder from the surrounding land and transformed it into a custom coffee table, merging the connection between indoors and outdoors.

Texture is my love language," says Francesca. "It’s how I bring emotion into a space without shouting. For this home, I layered everything: marble, smooth leather, raw woods with polished stone, sheer linen next to rich velvet. The palette might be neutral, but the materials are doing all the talking. That contrast keeps the eye engaged and creates a sense of quiet luxury that doesn’t try too hard," she adds.

William Myers

That marble fireplace is also a work of art. The stunning desert landscape significantly influenced the layout and styling choices. “I positioned seating areas to maximize views of the outdoors, creating a seamless connection between the interior and exterior spaces.

William Myers

The kitchen acts as a breezy bridge between the entry and the back of the house, creating a clean, open space that balances all the surrounding coziness.

William Myers

Here’s the view from the dining area — and I’m obsessed with the textured pendant lights. They bring a soft, organic touch that beautifully balances the kitchen’s harder lines.

6. Mix In Vintage Pieces

William Myers

Francesca mixed in a few vintage finds and unexpected accents to keep things fresh and dynamic, but her LA shop Somme really set the tone. There’s something really special about designing pieces that already have a story and a soul behind them—and being able to place them in a home like this just adds another layer of intention. I wanted the furnishings to feel elevated but livable, with just the right amount of edge," says Francesca.

7. Go Bold With Art

William Myers

For this home, Francesca worked closely with Creative Art Partners (CAP) to curate the perfect art collection that she says "felt intentional, emotional, and deeply tied to the spirit of the space."

William Myers

“Our goal was to create a narrative through the art — each piece had to serve a purpose, whether it added a punch of color, an unexpected texture, or a provocative element that brought energy to a room. That said, because this is a staged home, we were thoughtful about how far we pushed certain pieces. There’s a fine line between bold and polarizing, so we curated selections that had impact without alienating potential buyers. CAP was an amazing partner in helping us strike that balance and tell a cohesive story throughout the home,” she said.

8. Balance A Cozy Minimalism

William Myers

Striking the right balance between cozy and clean called for thoughtful layering and intentional decor choices. It’s all about avoiding clutter without letting the space feel cold or sterile.

William Myers

"I focus on incorporating plush textiles, ambient lighting, and personal artifacts to add warmth, while maintaining an uncluttered environment by curating pieces that serve both functional and aesthetic purposes. This philosophy ensures the space feels inviting without visual overload," she says.

Palm Springs feels almost otherworldly — the perfect desert escape.
