Blake Lively’s Next Career Move Might Surprise You

Looks like it might be time for Blake Lively to pull out those long stored Serena van der Woodsen mini skirts from the closet. Though the Age of Adaline star is currently pretty occupied with little girl James and running Preserve, the busy lady shared with Stylistwhat else she’d like to add to her full schedule: she wants to attend Harvard Business School.

When asked what else she has left to achieve at the ripe age of only 27 (after the UK-based women’s publication listed her endless accomplishments), the scholarly lady — giving Emma Watson a run for her education background — stated, “I have a dream to go to Harvard Business School and one of these days I will do that… in my spare time!” Go forth and prosper, Blake <3

Looking to join the ranks of famous female Harvard Business School alumni Tyra Banks, Sheryl Sandberg and Karlie Kloss, it appears Blake’s reason behind attending the grad school is what any wannabe student’s might be, to obtain the knowledge completing business courses offer. Though the budding mogul obviously has the experience, she doesn’t exactly have the academic background. As she shared with Stylist. “I love it [business] but I think it’s more innate for me; it’s not something I went to college for… Business is also about generosity. Entrepreneurs helping each other out. People starting their own companies who could be competitors are actually saying to me, ‘This is a mistake I made and this is how you can do it better. Meet my technology officer who can teach you how to build your technology platform.’ You realise there is room for everyone, as long as you work hard enough.” Wouldn’t she make the perfect TA?!

What are your thoughts about Blake wanting to attend Harvard Business School? Let us know in the comments.

Which educational podcasts have you listened to recently?

Cleaning your house can be the most stressful part of hosting guests. But the cozy, happy feeling you get when you have a spotless home is literally priceless. (I actually think hiring a house cleaner is an essential form of self care.) That said, all your effort can be overshadowed by unexpected dirt or grime in hidden nooks and corners. To help you avoid this, here are a few commonly missed spots to tackle before guests arrive!

Here are all the spots you (probably) missed cleaning recently!

Kaboompics.com

Sink Drains

A spritz of cleaner around the sink and faucet can be satisfying, but do you ever notice how gross a drain can get? Look out for mold and hair just under the drain cover for a truly clean sink.

Kaboompics.com

Behind the Toilets

Guests will likely notice dust buildup in these spots as they reach for their TP, especially in small bathrooms. Make sure to mop or wipe with a cloth behind your toilet for a fresh, clean space. You'll get to enjoy after they leave too!

Lauren Pressey

Your Entryway

It can be easy to get lost in cleaning the main part of your house that you forget the most important part! Make a good first impression with a tidy and organized entryway. Hide to mail, dust and clean, and add fresh flowers or a candle to make it more inviting.

Michael Oxendine

Ceiling Fans and Light Fixtures

Ever look up and find yourself horrified by the black dust building up on your white fan? Ditto. Grab a chair or ladder and dust the blades to keep dust from spreading all around the room.

Element5 Digital

Door Handles and Knobs

Given it's flu and Covid season, this is also a respectful and hygienic choice.

Kristyna Squared.one

Inside and Outside Your Fridge

This is a good time to use up food that's about to expire and reduce clutter in the fridge. But don't forget the outside too. Smudges and old reminders can be an eyesore.

Kira auf der Heide

Under Couch Cushions

Crumbs or debris can show up as soon as a guest sits down. As you vacuum the floor, give your cushions a quick clean up too. You may even find some change or items you've been missing.

Megan Nixon

Front of Kitchen Cabinets

Grease and fingerprints can make cabinets look dirty. We often overlook cleaning these and shelves, but having guests over is a good reminder!

Lisa Anna

Inside Your Microwave

Guests warming food may be grossed out by splatters and stains inside the microwave. Don't forget to clean the inside and outside!

Kelly Sikkema

Windowsills

Dust and dead insects often gather here, especially in warmer months. If you haven't cleaned them since summer, now is a good time to vacuum them up and wipe them down.

SHVETS production

Trash Cans (Inside and Out)

Even with a liner, odors can linger in trash cans. Hose them down or clean them in the sink to refresh your bins.

Taryn Elliott

Remote Controls and Electronics

These are high-touch items that guests may use, so a quick disinfecting wipe is a good idea this flu season!

When we ended the last season of Teach Me Something New, I told you we would take a short break. Well…we’re back — but with a twist! When I started Teach Me Something New, it was with the mission to become the world’s greatest generalist. I had an incredible time learning from so many brilliant and amazing guests like Elaine Welteroth, Zooey Deschanel, Bill Nye, and countless others.

But if there’s one thing I’ve learned as an entrepreneur, it’s that the best insights start with listening. Every time I started a company — whether it was Brit + Co, Selfmade, BFF, or even my work in venture capital with Offline Ventures — I was inspired by a deep curiosity and desire to solve a problem that wasn’t fully being satisfied.

I read your comments, listened to your feedback, and heard that you didn’t just want to learn about topics you enjoyed. You wanted to create more opportunities in your life without feeling overwhelmed. You loved the interviews with CEOs, actors, scientists, and other fascinating people. But, you also needed help figuring out where to invest your time and energy.

Many of you had a similar question: how do I have more success and upgrade my life without sacrificing everything? That’s why I decided to create a new podcast called First In Line.

I designed this show based on your requests and my lessons from Teach Me Something New. You wanted the same great guests but more clarity, guidance, opportunity, empowerment, and access to the coolest trends and the biggest opportunities. Whether you want to know how to live longer, figure out if you should invest in crypto, or want to understand how and when to take a big risk…we’re going to cover it all.

And to celebrate this exciting launch, we're giving early listeners a chance to win an incredible First In Line prize package and getaway valued at $3,000! The giveaway features prizes from upcoming guests and partners and you can enter by subscribing to this show on Spotify or Apple Podcasts and then submitting your email here.

The First In Line Giveaway Prize Includes:

  • A luxury two-night stay at my Orofino lodge in Montana ($1,625 Value)
  • 6 months of gold membership to our entrepreneurship program, Selfmade ($834 Value)
  • Gwyneth’s Paltrow’s “The Kit” Morning Routine from Goop ($207 Value)
  • A Tim Ferriss Book Bundle ($50 Value)
  • Ultimate LMNT hydration package ($250 Value)
  • Complete Athletic Greens starter package ($200 Value)

I can’t wait to share these episodes and the conversations that are usually limited to a select few and make them accessible to everyone. And I hope that you'll join me because you inspired this new journey! New episodes will drop on Thursdays, so stay tuned for our first episode in September — and be sure to subscribe to First In Line wherever you get your podcasts!

The girls were reading this year — and reading a lot of romance books at that. And while you may think all romance books are some variation of sex and happily-ever-afters, there are way more different types of stories you can read, from "fated mates" to "friends-to-lovers." According to Tempt's co-founder and COO, Anna Baidachnaya says there are actually six very clear trends with the romance books that everyone loved this year, too — and they may shock you! We know romantasy books reigned supreme, but they didn't have all the fun.

Keep scrolling to see which trends won the popularity contest!

The top romance trends readers kept reaching for — plus which books to read to get the best of them!

1. Fated Mates

Amazon

Baidachnaya says, "2024 was a year of shifting fantasies. At the beginning of the year, women leaned into escapism, and Fated Mates reigned supreme. These stories of love destined by fate offer reassurance and hope, a comforting reminder that some things are meant to be."

Our top picks for fated mates romance books:

The God and the Gumihoby Sophie Kim
