In Babygirl, Nicole Kidman plays powerful CEO Romy, who's struggling to hold her perfect persona together. Her marriage to Jacob has never provided with much pleasure, despite the fact he's caring and artistic. But when Romy immediately feels drawn to a young intern named Samuel, the two begin a torrid affair.

Filming scenes with Harris Dickinson got so intense, Kidman said she literally had to take breaks. “There were times when we were shooting where I was like, ‘I don’t want to orgasm any more,'” she told the Sun. “Don’t come near me. I hate doing this. I don’t care if I am never touched again in my life!”

But the fact the movie was made by women empowered Kidman — and gave her a sense of freedom. "Doing this subject matter in the hands of the woman that wrote the script, that's directing it and is a really great actress herself — we became one in a weird way, which I'd never had with a director before," Kidman says in a statement. "When you're working with a woman on this subject matter, you can share everything with each other.”

"I really decided in the beginning, I want to make a sexual film, just as sexual as all these films that I've always admired so much," adds writer-director-producer Halina Reijn, "but now I'm going to do it completely through female eyes. What does that mean and what does that look like?”

In our Brit + Co exclusive, Nicole Kidman revealed she "spent a lot of time in bed" with Harris while filming. (TBH, a job that requires you to hang out in bed sounds like a pretty good job to me).

"As soon as he walked in, I was like, 'Oh good, here's somebody who's gonna play with me," she says. "We spent a lot of time in bed. Hours would go by, and it was like you would step out of there and you would say, 'What just happened?'"

"From the moment [Samuel] sees her, he's attracted to her. He realizes there's someone at the height of their power," Harris adds. "There was an element of mystique that needed to be there for the exploration of the relationship."

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Nicole Kidman revealed Babygirl is the most "exposing" film she's done because she's “made some films that are pretty exposing, but not like this.”

“It left me ragged," she says. "At some point I was like, I don’t want to be touched. I don’t want to do this anymore, but at the same time I was compelled to do it...This is something you do and hide in your home videos. It is not a thing that normally is going to be seen by the world.”

The story explores LGBTQ+ identity and desire in the 1950s, but does so with a hopeful tone rather than a devastating one. “The first scenes that we filmed were the scenes we had together, so we got all of that done with—when we were apart, we had put the groundwork in,” Daisy tells Vanity Fair of working with Jacob, who adds, "I believe Taylor Swift calls it an invisible string.”

"I loved the connection between gambling and risk-taking, and pushing the boundaries of her desire and what she’s looking for,” Daisy adds. “Muriel’s rebellion throughout the film is quite quiet, in the small ways in which she takes back her power by concealing things. A lot of what’s happening is behind closed doors.”

As charming as Julius appears in the teaser trailer, his brother Lee tells Muriel they live differently than he does. "He's just not like us," he says before a scene cuts to Muriel exploring her own "passions." Based on this, On Swift Horses appears to blur the lines of love, lust, secrets, and recognizing one's identity.

Rory's treatment of her boyfriend in 'Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life' is "so wrong."

Considering so many Gilmore Girls fans are torn between Team Logan and Team Jess, there was really no reason for Rory to date Paul in A Year in the Life...especially if she was just going to forget he existed. While it seems like an attempt at humor, it really just comes off as cruel.

"This is something you do when you’re a teenager, not when you’re in your 30s," jengabells writes on Reddit. "And her playing 2 YEARS with this poor dude is so wrong. The fact that Lorelai doesn’t react at all is not helping. Lorelai used to tell Rory when her actions were wrong. But I guess that now that she’s older and that Rory practically never visit her, she doesn’t want to start a fight and let her live her life in her own terms."

Lorelai and Rory's relationship never quite feels the same after their months-long fight comes to an end in season 6, but the characters in A Year in the Life don't even feel like the same characters from the original show.

"The writers wrote the whole thing like they were just taking a vacation in Stars Hollow and would never be back - which left the characters almost without a moral compass," mud-n-bugs adds. "They felt like caricatures of themselves with no real stakes or skin in the game."

And Rory "doesn't deserve him."

The characters feel a little bit thinner than their OG counterparts, especially with so much of the story taking place outside Stars Hollow, it's like the heartbeat of the show is removed. But in addition to straight-up questioning Rory's ethics, her treatment of Paul also opens up a whole conversation about why it's so hard for the Gilmore Girls writers to just make Rory single — and that it's not a matter of which man is good enough for Rory, it's whether Rory is good enough for any of them!

"She doesn’t deserve him and his little attentions. We don’t know much about him other than he is caring and extremely naive (and a little dumb), but he didn’t deserve to be treated this way," jengabells continues. "I think this character shouldn’t have been created. It doesn’t make Rory look good."
