The 'Captain America: Brave New World' Trailer Finally Fixes This Major MCU Issue

captain america 4captain america 4

2008's The Incredible Hulk was not necessarily well-loved compared to other fan favorite superhero films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film follows Bruce Banner (played by Edward Norton in this film and Mark Ruffalo in future installments), a scientist who's on the run from the U.S. Government after an experiment gone wrong because...he turns into a huge green monster when he gets angry.

Among all its shortcomings, The Incredible Hulk did give us one good thing: Liv Tyler as Betty Ross. Thankfully, Variety confirmed we'll get to see Tyler return to the MCU as Betty in Captain America 4 next year. Here's everything we know about the Captain America: Brave New World cast, release date, and plot.

Watch The Captain America: Brave New World Trailer

Marvel Studios

We finally have a trailer for Captain America: Brave New World, and I haven't been this excited for a Marvel movie in YEARS. The main issue that's played into superhero fatigue over the last few years is the fact that our favorite heroes are constantly fighting aliens, going to space, and dealing with the multiverse. When you have heroes and villains who are superhuman, grounding them in realistic situations and settings helps balance the story (which is why I think Captain America: The Winter Soldier is one of the best Marvel movies of all time).

Captain America 4 finally takes us back to the world of political intrigue and spies, bringing Anthony Mackie's Sam face-to-face with global (read: human) forces.

When is the Captain America 4 release date?

Image via Marvel Studios

Captain America 4 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. The movie will drop a few months before we're introduced to new Fantastic Four!

Who's in the Captain America: Brave New World cast?

Image via Universal Studios/IMDB

In addition to Anthony Mackie, we'll see Liv Tyler reprise her role as Betty Ross. Betty's a scientist and Bruce Banner's ex-girlfriend, and is the daughter of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (who was played by the late William Hurt and who will now be played by Harrison Ford). In addition to The Hulk, Liv played Arwen in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Grace Stamper in Armageddon, and Corey Mason in Empire Records.

We'll also reportedly see Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, and Shira Haas.

Will Bucky be in Captain America 4?

Image via Marvel Studios

No, unfortunately it looks like Bucky Barnes (and Sebastian Stan) won't be in Captain America 4. In a recent interview with Radio Times, the MCU's new Captain America Anthony Mackie confirmed he's doing the film without his The Falcon and the Winter Soldier costar.

"I was actually excited to do a second season [of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier], just so me and Sebastian can get paid to hang out," he says. "Because it's like me, him and Daniel Brühl. It's kind of like the perfect storm of happiness. When they decided to go back to the movies, it is what it is, but I don't have my friends anymore, so it kind of dampens it a little bit."

Hopefully we'll get to see Anthony Mackie's Sam reunite with Bucky in Thunderbolts!

What is the plot of Captain America 4?

Image via Marvel Studios

We don't have an official synopsis for Captain America: Brave New World yet, but we do know that it picks up after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. We'll continue to see Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) use the name — and shield — of Captain America for good.

Considering the plot of The Incredible Hulk involved experimentation with Captain America's Super Soldier Serum, we're super excited to see how Liv Tyler's Betty fits into the newest story.

Who is playing the new Captain America?

Image via Jesse Grant/Getty Images for Disney

Anthony Mackie has played Sam Wilson (who officially became Captain America post-Endgame) since 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He brings so much humor, heart, and strength to Sam, and I can't wait to see how he makes the role of Captain America his own.

Can't stop saying, "Piper, nooooooo" because of Parker Posey's portrayal of Victoria Ratliff in The White Lotus? We don't blame you because she knows how to steal a scene. Now that we think about it, she's been doing that for a while which is why we've been ruminating on some of the best movies she's appeared in.

Half of them are cult classics that have earned Parker Posey the title of a "90s indie queen," according to her The White Lotus co-star Michelle Monaghan(via E! News) and we agree. But she's also appeared in 2000s films we love watching too!

Whether it's been a supporting or starring role, Parker's found a way to steal the show with her memorable quips as well as unforgettable facial expressions.

Scroll to see which of Parker Posey's movies we've enjoyed throughout the years

1. Dazed and Confused (1993)

Universal Pictures/IMDB

P.S. It features the outdated and harmful practice of "hazing" so viewer discretion is advised.

Before there was Not Another Teen Movie, the '90s gave us Dazed and Confused. For several reasons, it's one of those indie cult classics that some of the biggest celebrities have appeared in. From Matthew McConaughey to Renée Zellwegger, viewers watched them portray high schoolers navigating the day before summer break.

Parker's role was a senior named Darla who was a part of a group who eagerly humiliated freshmen girls. Though she didn't have a huge breakout role, the familiar facial expressions we mentioned earlier were on full display.

2. Drunk Girls (1995)

IMDB

Drunks is a little darker in nature than Dazed and Confused, but still maintains the indie spirit Parker's known for. It follows those who struggle with alcoholism and other addictions as they seek therapy for their issues. Between the main character's attempts at getting better and the other attendees' journeys, viewers are subject to the uneasy trajectory addicts face.

Parker's character was Debbie, a girl who loved partying but decided it wasn't worth drunk all the time. However, her new obsession happened to be football.

3. Party Girls (1995)

Sony Pictures/IMDB

That same year, Parker Posey appeared in Party Girl where she took on the role of partier Mary and her obsession with having as much fun as she could. When her habit lands her in trouble, she's indebted to her godmother and starts working at a library. Though things start going well, a lewd act causes her to lose her job and forces her to part ways with beloved vintage pieces.

Over time, Mary learns to grow up and find her true purpose in life while also realizing she can have fun doing things that don't get her in trouble.

4. The Daytrippers (1997)

Columbia Pictures/IMDB

The Daytrippers is another funny indie movie that takes viewers on a wild goose chase that ends with a shocking discovery. When one woman (Hope Davis) is convinced her husband's cheating on her, she and her family decide to take a trip to NYC to find out what's going on. Hilariously, Parker Posey plays the woman's sister who thinks it's a great idea to bring her boyfriend (Liev Schreiber) along for the adventure.

In a series of side-splitting moments, viewers watch as their family tries to solve the great mystery of who's at the center of the cheating scandal only to wish they didn't know towards the end of the movie.

5. The House of Yes (1997)

Miramax Films/IMDB

P.S. The topic of incest is broached in this movie.

Parker Posey takes on the role of a woman named "Jackie-O" who won't let go of JFK's assassination in The House of Yes. When her twin brother Marty Pascal reveals news of his engagement, Jackie-O does everything she can to cause friction between him and his new fiancée. Over time, it's revealed the twins had an uncharacteristically close relationship which explains Jackie-O's jealousy. However, things get even weirder when it seems like people are aware of Marty and Jackie-O's "relationship," which causes chaos and confusion.

By the end of the film, viewers are left shocked when Marty dies and it seems like Jackie-O's "plan" succeeded.

6. You've Got Mail (1998)

Warner Bros./IMDB

Next to Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail will always be one of our favorite love stories. However, Tom Hanks' Joe Fox doesn't remain in love with Parker Posey's Patricia Eden. As we all know and love, he instead falls for Meg Ryan's Kathleen Kelly after exchanging a series of AOL chat messages. However, they're unaware they're in charge of competing bookstores.

When their online messages lead to a mutual meetup and Joe realizes who Kathleen is, he almost decides it's not worth
"introducing" himself to her. But love is hard to ignore and the two eventually find themselves right where they're supposed to be by the end of the movie.

Miramax/IMDB

Scream 3 (2000)

When Parker Posey's Jennifer Jolie is posed to play Gail Weathers (Courtney Cox) in a new Stab 3 movie, the set is shut down when a new series of murders begins. Ironically, Jennifer and Dewey Riley (David Arquette) are in a relationship which bothers Gail. However, they have to set their petty rivalries aside as they work together with the remaining cast to figure out when the killer will strike next.

Sadly, the killer discovers where a secluded Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) resides which forces her to help the cast as well. By the end of the film, it's revealed that killer's always know who Sidney is and was responsible for everything that's happened to her as well as everyone around her or the people involved in the Stab franchise.

And while we would've loved if Parker's Jennifer survived, she meets a terrible end towards the end of Scream 3.

8. Josie and the Pussycats (2001)

Universal Pictures/IMDB

Did you really grow up during the '90s if you didn't know who Josie and the Pussycats were? All jokes aside, this girl group felt similar to our reverence of The Spice Girls, but in kid-friendly form.

The movie follows The Pussycats (Rachael Leigh Cook, Tara Reid, and Rosario Dawson) as they try to secure a name for themselves in the music industry. They're discovered by MegaRecords executive Wyatt Frame (Alan Cumming) and sign the biggest deal of their lives.

They immediately begin feeling uncomfortable and it's all for good reason because MegaRecords' CEO Fiona (Parker Posey) is working the the government to essentially brainwash young teens who listen to music. There's also the obvious message that any musicians who discover what they're doing meet a terrible end so the company is able to continue its nefarious plot.

Towards the end of the movie, the brainwashing seems to come to an end and the beloved group is able to maintain their popularity without the aid of terrible messaging that could harm teens.

9. Blade: Trinity (2004)

New Line Cinema/IMDB

Parker Posey as Danica Talos in Blade: Trinity was one of favorite characters we loved to hate! She really put the "super" in supervillain because she was condescending and ruthless in her quest to help ruin Blade. However, what sealed it for us was when she and her team allowed for the death of the Nightstalkers' (Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds) trusted scientist Sommerfield.

Danica eventually meets a dramatic end where her corpse fades into ash and it feels like a delicious end to such a terrible character (we still love you Parker!).

10. Mascots (2016)

Scott Garfield/Netflix

Only Parkey Posey could pull off a character named Cindi Babineaux in Mascots who was among other actors portraying the lives of mascots getting ready to attend the World Mascot Association Championships. Taking it very seriously, viewers are given a BTS look at what it takes to prep for something "prestigious" as this and it's quirky as you think.

For starters, Cindi Babineaux's mascot is an armadillo whose moves are quite elaborate given her dancer's background. Secondly, the competition features outlandish routines that somehow make you root for the mascot you'll come to appreciate the most.

Audiences loved the way Greta Gerwig's Little Women brought all four March sisters to life, and Netflix's Anne with an E became so popular that when the show was canceled after season 3, 1.7 million fans signed a petition to revive the series. It all just proves that classic adaptations can make the original story even more powerful.

And the newest movie based on a book is going to be one we think about forever — and not just because of its cast. Emerald Fennell (who you'll recognize from The Crown and her work as writer & director on Satburn) is adapting Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights and Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are leading the cast!

The book, published in 1847, continues to grip readers, and it's become the blueprint for moody complexity — just like Emerald Fennell's Promising Young Woman, which won the Oscar for Best Screenplay thanks to its scathing look at sexual assault. Well, the Em's are coming together for this new adaptation.

Here's everything we know about Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights — and your first look at the movie.

The First Set Leaks From 'Wuthering Heights' Have Everyone In A Tizzy

"I am the biggest fan of Wuthering Heights that there is I just really hope I don’t get disappointed," one Instagram user commented.

Everyone lost their minds when leaks of Margot Robbie dressed in a white wedding gown made their way onto the internet. While some Margot fans say the look is "ethereal" and "majestic," others are criticizing the choice to use a white wedding dress since the trend wasn't started until Queen Victoria married in TK.

"begging people in historical movies and shows to realize white wedding dresses where made the norm in the VICTORIAN ERA," @neybitxh said on X. "wuthering heights is set in the Georgian Era no one was wearing white dresses for a wedding."

Here's Your First Look At 'Wuthering Heights'

The first look at Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights is getting some seriously mixed reactions. The photo features a close-up image of someone (maybe Margot Robbie's) with their fingers and a few blades of grass in their mouth.

"CAN NOT WAIT," one Instagram user said, along with a couple fire emojis. But the intimate (and somewhat shocking) image also has some users asking, "what in the saltburn?"

Who's in the new Wuthering Heights movie?

Frazer Harrison/Monica Schipper/Getty Images

The Wuthering Heights cast will be led by Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie as Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, respectively. Here's the cast list:

  • Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw: a young girl torn between her feelings for Heathcliff.
  • Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff: a boy fostered by the Earnshaws who's forced to be a servant.
  • Hong Chau as Nelly Dean: a servant in the Earnshaw household.
  • Alison Oliver as Isabella Linton: One of the Earnshaw's neighbor, whom Heathcliff and Catherine spy on.
  • Shazad Latif as Edgar Linton: Isabella's brother.

In addition to starring, Margot will also produce with her production company LuckyChap, which worked behind the scenes on Emerald Fennell's Saltburn and Promising Young Woman.

While some fans were initially excited about the casting, others were concerned about the fact that in the book, Heathcliff is described as "dark skinned." He also tells Nelly that, "I wish I had light hair and a fair skin, and was dressed, and behaved as well, and had a chance of being as rich as he will be!" Um, it looks like Jacob Elordi definitely has fair skin to me.

"Heathcliff is described as a dark-skinned brown man in the book and a major plot point is that he was subjected to racist abuse by his adopted family. But yeah sure Jacob Elordi is perfect," one tweet (which has over 8 million views) says, while another says, "Film studios will say 'We are committed to diverse casting' and then cast Jacob Elordi to play Heathcliff, one of the more famous people of color in literature, whose race is crucial to both his character and the story."

And when the casting for Edgar and Isabella Linton was announced, one X user said, "Now I’m even more pissed off. They look way more like Heathcliff and Cathy cmon now!!!"

Is Wuthering Heights going to be in theaters?

Focus Features

It appears director Emerald Fennell and producer Margot Robbie are pushing for a theatrical release, which is why they've reportedly turned down a Netflix offer of $150 million.

Despite the fact Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said theatrical releases are "just not our business," and the company has stuck to at-home streaming instead, they did break that pattern for Knives Out: Glass Onion in 2022. The movie appeared in around 600 theaters the day before Thanksgiving, but left a week later ahead of its December 23 debut on the streamer.

Co-CEO Reed Hastings told The Hollywood Reporter that keeping the movie in theaters could have made Netflix more money, but later said they just wanted to "break through the noise" and get movie lovers excited for the film to come to Netflix.

All that to be said, Margot Robbie (whose Barbie made over $1 billion worldwide) and Emerald Fennell (whose Promising Young Woman nabbed her an Oscar win and two other nominations) know how to capture the imaginations of movie lovers everywhere. And it could definitely be in their favor to stick to a theatrical release. Stay tuned for official news on where you can watch Wuthering Heights!

When is Wuthering Heights coming out?

Warner Bros. Pictures

Wuthering Heights will premiere on February 14, 2026. Happy Valentine's Day!

What is Wuthering Heights about?

Amazon

Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights follows the Earnshaws and the Lintons, who are living in the Yorkshire Moors in the 1880s. Their lives change forever when the Earnshaws take in Heathcliff. Like any good dramatic novel, passion lies beneath proper connections, marriages, and societal expectations — and despite Catherine and Heathcliffe's feelings for each other, they have to choose between security and love.

Where is Wuthering Heights filming?

Wuthering Heights is filming right now in the UK. According to Tatler, filming is happening at Sky Studios Elstree in Hertfordshire, and we might see some scenes on location in Yorkshire too.
