10 Women Who Prove Having Gray Hair Can Be Incredibly Glamorous

gray hair

I've always been fascinated by older women who fully embrace their gray hair. I think it stems from spending so much time with my grandmothers and their friends when I was little, soaking up the wisdom and beauty that radiated from them. That's why seeing women in Hollywood who rocking their gray hair reinforces how glamorous it really is.

From Jane Fonda to Stacy London, these women have accomplished so much in their lives so it's inspiring to see them enjoy getting older. Here's what these beautiful women have said about aging and owning their gray hair.

Jane Fonda

When I think about women who are embracing their gray hair, Jane Fonda is the first person who comes to mind. It feels like she's been effortlessly slaying any look she's ever worn since before I was born so I'm not surprised she looks amazing with gray hair.

One of the things she's said about getting older is that she's truly enjoying it. Prevention reported that the star opened up about her gray hair during an interview with Ellen Degeneres. "I tell you, I’m so happy I let it go gray,” Fonda said. “Enough already with so much time wasted, so much money spent, so many chemicals — I’m through with that.”

Glenn Close

Ah, if it isn't our generation's OG Cruella de Vil. No one does glamorous villain quite like Glenn Close, and I'm pretty sure she knows it. She hasn't said much about allowing her hair to go gray either, but she did open up to Glamour about aging in 2022.

"Well, I’m growing into it [aging]...We are so brainwashed about skin. Certainly about women’s skin," she said.

Helen Mirren

One of things I love about Helen Mirren — besides her gray hair — is her vitality for life. It seems like she's getting better with time and I love how most of the women with gray hair truly feel that way. Whether she's standing up to ghosts in Winchester or being a cunning criminal in the latter Fast & Furious movies, Helen knows how to command attention.

She told Women's Health, "I think without a doubt as you get older your confidence increases."

Emma Thompson

Image via Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images

Emma Thompson is known for movies like Nanny McPhee, Johnny English, and more, but I absolutely think her personality and gray hair are the real stars.

In a personal essay she wrote for The Guardian, the actress bore witness to the way our bodies change the older we get as evidenced by being close to her daughter and mother during the pandemic. She wrote, "So instead of grieving my mother’s ageing, instead of envying my daughter’s youth, I find I am buoyed up and calmed down by turn."

Diane Keaton

Diane Keaton worked her way into my heart when my mom introduced me to Annie Hall and, later, The First Wives Club. I've always been drawn to the structured looks she seems to effortlessly pulled off and channeled it when I used to work at a law firm.

She was one of the few women I remember seeing truly embrace not only their style, but her gray hair. She told People in 2017, "My hair is now white. It’s better to have light around your face — I think it looks better on older people."

Jamie Lee Curtis

Image via Rodin Eckenroth/Getty Images

Jamie Lee Curtis not only stole our hearts with her long acting history, but she always made short hairstyles look chic. Now that she has grey hair, it makes her signature pixie cut stand out even more.

She appeared on Today earlier this year to promote her children's book Just One More Sleep and shared how she feels about getting older. "I’m very much in acceptance of what I look like and I own what I think and feel. And that, to me, is what maturity is. You own what you think and feel. I say what I mean. I mean what I say. I try not to say it mean. And that’s a way then to grow into my old age.”

Meryl Streep

Image via Kevin Winter/Getty Images for iHeartRadio

How can we not love Meryl Streep? From Death Becomes Her to The Devil Wears Prada, we'd spot those iconic cheekbones anywhere.

She hasn't said anything about her grey hair yet, but she has mentioned how she feels about getting older. "You have to embrace getting older. Life is precious..." she once told Good Housekeeping.

Andie MacDowell

Image via Phillip Faraone/Getty Images for Hallmark Media

Known for her roles in St. Elmo's Fire, Groundhog Day, and the 2011 version of Footloose, Andie MacDowell has been acting for quite a while.

In terms of her grey hair, she's another celebrity who's chosen not to hide it. She told People last year, "I'm just appreciative that people let me be the individual that I am without question. I think people also agree that silver hair probably suits me."

Allison Janney

Image via Phillip Faraone/Getty Images

Allison Janney has the kind of dry humor that always has a bit of truth hidden in it. From Juno to Palm Royale, you know it's going to be a great time whenever she's onscreen.

She appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2021 and had this to say about embracing getting older. "I cannot tell you how amazing it is to feel free...Free from hair color and hair extensions and hair tapes and blah blah blah."

Stacy London

Image via Kevin Winter/Getty Images for BlogHer

Stacy London hosted What Not to Wearalongside Clinton Kelly for a decade and helped changed the way we approach style so it's obvious that she'd make having grey hair look ultra glamorous. She opened up to Cup of Jo about the streak of grey hair that used to garner a lot of attention.

She said, "People used to tell me to dye my hair because it made me look old, but I’ve had the streak since I was 11! I’ve never felt uncomfortable about it. I think it puts me in the same category as Cruella de Vil or Rogue from X-Men. That’s pretty iconic."

After almost 17 years of marriage, Jessica Alba just officially split from her husband, Cash Warren. TMZ reported that the actress and film producer have been separated for a while now, and this article seems to make everything even more official. Here's everything we know so far about the breakup — including how long it seems like the pair's actually been split up.

Here's everything we know about Jessica Alba's split from husband, Cash Warren.

On January 8, 2025, sources spilled to TMZ about Jessica Alba and Cash Warren's separation. The sources shared that the couple is allegedly "moving forward" with a divorce, so unfortunately it doesn't seem like this split is a short-term solution.

TMZreported that both Jessica and have gone in public without wedding rings recently — Jessica as recent as the Golden Globes afterparties on January 5, 2025. Apparently, one of the last times the two were spotted publicly was back in November 2024. Outside of that, the couple celebrated their son's birthday at Universal Studios together in January, but it's unclear how official the separation was at that point.

Well, Jessica just confirmed her split from Cash on Instagram. The actress shared:

I've been on a journey of self realization and transformation for years - both as an individual and in partnership with Cash. I'm proud of how we've grown as a couple and in our marriage over the last 20 years and it's now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.

We are moving forward with love and kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family. Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time.

A source toldUS Weekly that the couple could actually file for divorce "soon." The source said, "Cash has been slowly moving things out of their house but since the fires, they have been spending more time under one roof as a family. They are being there for each other right now as it is a very stressful time."

According to PEOPLE, Jessica and Cash got engaged in 2007, after meeting on the set of Fantastic Four back in 2004. They got married and stayed together for 16 years, welcoming three children to their family: Honor (16), Haven (13), and Hayes (7).

Back in 2021, Alba told PEOPLE that they tend to "over-communicate" in order to best support each other and their different needs. She said that they don't have a "secret" to making it work — they "just need to check in with each other."

Whatever happens next, we hope that Jessica, Cash, and their kids are able to find peace and happiness throughout this major transition.

There are few things in our daily lives as horrifying as a first date with a stranger. Usually, the best case scenario is you show up to an agreed meeting place, hit it off, want to go out again, and maybe even fall in love. That is, assuming you're not getting catfished and they're not a crazy person. Well, in Meghann Fahy's new thriller, she finds herself on the perfect first date that takes a turn for the terrifying when an anonymous stranger starts tormenting her...and then instructs her to kill her date. Now the question remains: will she follow through, or will this would-be couple make it to dessert?

Here's everything know about Drop, starring Meghann Fahy and Brandon Sklenar.

Watch 'The Drop' trailer now!

The first thing I have to call out about The Drop trailer is that Brandon Sklenar just keeps getting cuter. How is this possible?! He and Meghann Fahy have chemistry the moment he steps onscreen which makes this whole movie concept — you know, that Meghann's character is told she has to kill him — even more intriguing. And Sabrina Carpenter playing in the background? An inspired choice.

I want to believe that both Violet and Henry make it out of the story alive...but things aren't looking too hopeful for either of them.

The poster for Drop definitely gets my adrenaline pumping — and I love Meghann Fahy's glam eyeshadow & manicure paired with the terror in her eyes. Because, duh, of course this Emmy-nominted actress can act with her eyes like nobody's business. And the bold red of the graphic design? Chef's kiss.

It's no big secret that Taylor Swift and Blake Lively are BFFs — but it's definitely shocking that Justin Baldoni would include the pop star in his recent $400 million lawsuit against his former It Ends With Usco-star. This back-and-forth feud began before It Ends With Useven debuted, and it's quickly becoming clear that it'll last long after any movie buzz dies down. Not so sure? Well, Justin just dragged Taylor into it all, stirring up even more drama. Here's what you need to know!

Here's how Taylor Swift got swept up into the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni feud...

Cindy Ord/Getty Images

On January 16, 2025, Justin filed a 179-page, $400 million lawsuit against Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist. While there's obviously a lot to digest in the almost 200-page document, one allegation sticks out in particular — and yes, it includes Taylor Swift.

After Blake asked to "take a pass" at rewriting the scene where Lily meets Ryle in In Ends With Usduring pre-production, Justin eventually agreed to look at it despite his initial reluctance. When Justin didn't agree with Blake's take on the scene — something he described as "exceedingly mild resistance" — he alleges that she ignored him for days. Apparently Blake said that Justin's response to her rewrite "didn't feel great" — and that it allegedly upset both Ryan Reynolds and Taylor Swift.

Monica Schipper/Getty Images

According to Justin, he was also invited to Ryan and Blake's apartment for a meeting on evening, and Taylor also showed up. He claims she and Ryan were openly "praising" Blake's script, and allegedly made "the subtext" that Justin should just accept the rewrite very clear.

When Blake allegedly texted Justin about the exchange later, he claims she described Swift and Reynolds as "embarrassingly effusive" and her "most trusted partners." She allegedly wrote, "I think they wanted you and me to see how they felt about [the rewrites] because they've been by my side for far too many experiences where I've been overlooked."

Justin then says Blake texted, "If you ever get around to watching Game of Thrones, you'll appreciate that I'm Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have a few dragons. For better or worse, but usually for better. Because my dragons also protect those I fight for. So really we all benefit from those gorgeous monsters of mine. you will too, I can promise you."

This all comes after Blake filed her own lawsuit against Justin in December 2024. Who knows what's next between these two — especially when you get Taylor Swift (and the Swifties) involved...

How many times have you heard someone is a toxic person and — aside from therapy speak — what does it mean? According to Michelle English, LCSW, Co-Founder and Executive Clinical Manager at Healthy Life Recovery, "In a therapeutic setting, toxic behavior usually refers to patterns of behavior that regularly cause emotional, mental, or even physical harm to others."

Wondering why people resort to being toxic behavior? English says, "They are frequently the result of unresolved personal issues such as trauma, insecurity, or a lack of self-awareness." Jamie Bennett, LMFT of Mountainside Treatment Center, adds, "Many toxic people do things with the intent of getting a certain reaction – like a bully. If they want to rile you up and you don’t get riled up this changes the dynamic."

Wanna know what signs to look out for when it comes to toxic people? We've got you covered — and we have the tea on when you should finally cut them out!

P.S. Bennett says assertiveness isn't toxic, even if someone's behavior sometimes comes off as pushy or controlling. This just means they're sure of themselves!

Here are the 6 signs of a toxic person — & when to cut them out!

Kaboompics.com

1. They're always being dismissive.

Have you ever been really excited or upset about something only to be met with a dismissive tone from someone you confided in? This person is displaying toxicity which "gradually undermines trust in relationships," according to English. Would you want to keep sharing things with a person if they're always downplaying your emotions? Probably not.

Alex Green

2. Controlling others seems like a sport to them.

English says another way to determine someone is toxic is pay attention to their controlling behavior. It can be something as simple as telling you what to wear or something greater such as forcibly limiting your contact with anyone they think isn't good for you.

Keira Burton

3. They consistently makes excuses for their behavior.

Have you ever let a close friend know certain behavior bothers you only for them to make an excuse for why they keep doing them? Bennett says this counts as "avoiding responsibility for actions." Furthermore, "constantly" doing so or looking to "push the blame onto someone else veers into toxic territory," she adds.

Another way to look at this is if someone is always falling into a pattern of "victimizing themselves," according to Bennett.

SHVETS production

4. They tend to be manipulative.

Manipulation is tricky because it's not always obvious until it's too late. It's kind of like not realizing you were bit by a mosquito until your skin becomes itchy and red. Bennett says this is toxic because there's a knowing that someone can "appeal to a certain person's characteristics or personality traits." This looks like saying or doing something "with the intention of getting a certain reaction," according to her.

Bennett says, "An example may be one partner in sobriety who consistently uses their poor mental health as a reason to not be proactive about finding a job. They do this because they know that the other partner is worried about their loved one relapsing so they use that fear against her."

Liza Summer

5. They never miss an opportunity to gaslight people.

Calling this a "well-known example," English says gaslighting often occurs when someone denies the reality of another person." What would cause someone to do this? Well, a toxic behavior often doesn't want to take accountability for their actions so they'd rather "cause people to doubt their own perceptions," according to English.

Alena Darmel

6. They're always looking for reasons to criticize someone.

The catty behavior on The Real Housewives of New York may be entertaining for TV, but that kind of behavior gets old quickly in everyday life. No one wants to hear why "so and so thinks they're all that" even if it's disguised as humor. English says, "Regardless of their motivation," behaviors like this "can lead to stressful and emotionally distressing situations."

Is it time to cut that toxic person out of my life?

We live in a society that started prioritizing ending relationships with people as soon as we spot red flags, but English and Bennett don't think this should be our immediate reaction. English says, "The decision to disengage with a toxic person in the relationship will depend on how harsh and serious the relationship is" because "it is often personal."

According to her, if you notice a consistent pattern where the behavior is "damaging your emotional health," it's okay to walk away from that person. Still, she believes "completely cutting [someone] off is often a last option when other approaches to changing the behavior have not worked." Bennett says something similar and notes how to approach different scenarios.

"If it someone you need to communicate with because of a job or family, there are things you can do to protect yourself," she says. She suggests reminding "yourself who you are dealing with" if the person is adept at gaslighting others because "it may be easy to become convinced that you are wrong or something did not happen the way you recall." A phrase she encourages you to tell yourself is, "I know that my experiences are my experiences no matter what."

RDNE Stock project

If you're dealing with an aggressively toxic person, you'll have to "set and reinforce boundaries," Bennett says while English adds that "engaging in therapy to faciliate healthier relationships" may be a next step.

Here's how Bennett suggests navigating communication with someone like this:

  • Set a boundary to end the conversation when you notice toxic behavior such as invalidation of your feelings.
  • Receive support from another person so they can remind you of things you're trying to accomplish

If you're dealing with a friend or spouse, Bennett wants you to remember "you cannot change them" but you're in control of how you respond. English says, "It is important to analyze the whole situation and know when the cost of the relationship is greater than the benefits."

Bennett's last piece of advice is to know when to walk away" by having a "deep awareness for how you are feeling." You can do this by "checking in with your body and thoughts" so you can understand how you "respond to stress," according to her. She says this will give you more "clues on what when it's time to step away!"
