It's time for the weekend watch! This comfort show is the ultimate escape, and if you're more than ready to pack up your swimsuits and shower your home in Target fall decor, this show will totally get you in the mood for all the fun things coming post-Labor Day weekend. But aside from all of the autumn of it all, everything about Gilmore Girls makes it the perfect comfort watch. The heart of the show is family and community, and honestly even coming-of-age in a safe space. There's nothing that will put you more at ease!

I consider The Vampire Diaries the perfect September TV show because it gives me the same feeling the first crisp early-fall morning provides, or the same thrill as lighting an apple candle and listening to the acoustic version of Taylor Swift's "State of Grace" (both of which I do every September 1). And with a slew of leather jackets, long sleeve Henley tees, and jeans, the show has just enough layering to make you crave some fall basics.

If you haven't seen this film before, get ready because it's about to become one of your all-time comfort movies (or at least, that's what happened when I watched it for the first time). It offers a lot of the same joy Gilmore Girls does because, partly because it centers family relationships and small town living, but because the story features plane rides, road trips, and crashing a wedding, it caters to that last little bit of summer adventure we all have when Labor Day weekend rolls around.

Only Murders in the Building season 4 might only have one episode so far, but in the event you haven't been able to watch it, there is no time like the present. This episode finally brings us back to Mabel, Charles, and Oliver, but since it is only one episode, it'll leave you wanting more before the credits even roll. Plus, if you save it for Labor Day itself, you can watch episode two when it premieres the next day!

We might have to wait until September 12 for Emily in Paris season 4 part 2, but all five episodes of part 1 are available on Netflix now. And in my opinion, this is the best season since the first! By this point, we are well acquainted with Emily, Gabriel, and all the other memorable characters, and the writing is so good that you could binge all five episodes in one night. You can also watch one episode a day to stretch it out ;).

Labor Day weekend presents the perfect opportunity to watch any shows you're behind on, and our team can't stop talking about Industry season 3. I never knew banking could be so dramatic, but Industry is simply the only series that fills the void left behind by Succession and Euphoria. Episode 4 premieres on September 1, which means we're already halfway through the season. And I'm cancelling all my plans to curl up and catch up.

I’m a fiend for the glowy look and even more of one for cream makeup, which is why I was so excited to try out ILIA’s new cream highlighter and bronzer duo. The Lightshift Cream Highlighter and Sunshift Cream Bronzer both boast a cream-to-powder formula that offers “natural radiance” and “sunkissed warmth” when used in conjunction. Given that I live for the glow (at this point, it might as well be my middle name), I had to see what these new products were all about. Here’s my unfiltered review!

Both the Lightshift Cream Highlighter and Sunshift Cream Bronzer are uniquely crafted with “skin-loving ingredients” like green tea, microalgae, and plant-based squalene. The green tea and microalgae are said to “nourish and shield skin from pollution” while the plant-based squalene “seals in moisture and boosts elasticity without clogging pores.” The makeup-as-skincare category has definitely grown in the past few years, and before I even put them on my face, I appreciated that these face products were formulated with skincare benefits in mind.
For the Lightshift Cream Highlighter, I snagged the shade Glint, which ILIA describes as a “soft champagne” color. There are only three shades to choose from for the highlighter – the other two include Arc, a “peachy gold,” and Daze, a “warm copper.” I determined that for the Sunshift Cream Bronzer, the shade Ray, a “warm golden bronze” would best suit my fair complexion. There are four bronzer shades total.
The packaging is the same for both the highlighter and bronzer. They’re fairly slim and lightweight in-hand, but both palettes took up a considerable amount of real estate in my makeup bag. I tend to opt for cream makeup over anything because it’s often really compact – I adore my Milk Makeup bronzer stickand Colourpop Shadow Stix for this exact reason. That being said, I think the ILIA products still travel well and I could easily pop ‘em in my purse.

Based on my first swatches, both the highlighter and bronzer boast the same cream-to-powder formula. The texture was very smooth and velvety to the touch, and became more lightweight and subtly powdery once I blended it out on the back of my hand. Of course, hand swatches aren’t nearly the same as wearing a makeup product on your face, so off to my vanity I went.

I typically do my makeup with a mix of cream and powder products, so I had to be mindful about the order in which I applied the ILIA bronzer and highlighter. I’ve had days where my makeup will pill or end up fairly patchy after going in the wrong order. I ended up switching up a few steps in my routine (and going back and forth between them) to make sure the products melted in seamlessly, but it wasn’t a big hassle in my opinion.
After a single swipe of the Sunshift Cream Bronzer, I instantly realized I could have gone with a darker shade. After applying one layer with a brush, I feel like it really didn’t add much depth or a warm glow to my face. I ended up applying three layers of it: two before I set my makeup, and one after. While I surely appreciate the natural-ness of the results (it’s definitely the shiniest bronzer I’ve ever tried), I simply desire a bolder payoff. There are certainly other cream bronzers in my makeup bag that can deliver the same natural, bronze-y depth without having to be layered and layered, saving me more time overall.

Now, onto the highlighter. I liked how easy it was to use – I just tapped the highlighter in with my fingers around the high points of my face. It definitely gave my face a more mellow, natural glow. This was a very different highlighter experience for me, as I typically reach for powder highlighters that are formulated with fine glitters or mica powder (I love love love the Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter). The ILIA product is still very shiny, but it doesn’t have as much of an in-your-face glow.

Overall, applying the bronzer was a bit more fussy than how the highlighter went on. After pairing the duo with my Undone Beauty cream blush (obsessed with her), I felt they all worked together really nicely in creating a glowy-from-within look. I could see both the Lightshift Cream Highlighter and Sunshift Cream Bronzer working well for both bolder, full-face makeup looks and more minimal ones.

When it comes to makeup products, what really matters to me the most is their value. Both the Lightshift Cream Highlighter and Sunshift Cream Bronzer retail for $38, which totals up to $76 if you get the whole duo. Both the highlighter and bronzer have 0.27 ounces of product in them.
While I only used a little bit of each at a time (I think the cream formula helps conserve product slightly), I was primarily disappointed by the payoff of the bronzer. Similar bronzing products at more realistic price points exist, which is why I can’t give the Sunshift Cream Bronzer my full endorsement.
ILIA Beauty
On the other hand, the Lightshift Cream Highlighter was wildly impressive and I enjoyed the humble glow it left me with.

A bride's relationship with her mother-in-law is always a hot topic, but nobody understands how monstrous a MIL can be like Belinda. Her mother-in-law decides to move in (right after Belinda learns she's pregnant, no less), and tries to get her claws on the new baby — literally.
The Front Room hits theaters September 6 and stars Brandy Norwood, Kathryn Hunter, and Andrew Burnap.

This coming-of-age comedy is actually fairly deceptive. I was crying by the end! (As was the audience at the Sundance Film Festival). Elliott goes on one last trip with her friends before leaving for college, and by "trip" I mean a literal hallucinogenic trip. While her friends have very different reactions, Elliott ends up coming face-to-face with her 39-year-old self, who's full of advice — and warnings.
My Old Ass in theaters September 13 and stars Maisy Stella, Aubrey Plaza, Kerrice Brooks, Maddie Ziegler, and Percy Hynes White.

Hunger Games fans will love this YA adaptation, which follows Tally, who lives in a society where everyone gets perfecting surgery at the age of 16. But when her friend disappears, and she realizes becoming a "Pretty" isn't as beautiful as it sounds, Tally sets out to change her future — and the world.
Uglies hits Netflix September 13 and stars Joey King, Chase Stokes, Keith Powers, Brianne Tju, and Laverne Cox.

I was totally not prepared to hear the cinematic version of Billie Eilish's "Birds of a Feather" in the trailer and I got EMOTIONAL.
The Wild Robot hits theaters September 27 and stars Lupita Nyong'o, Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, Catherine O'Hara, Bill Nighy, Stephanie Hsu, and Mark Hamill

George Clooney and Brad Pitt are bringing their star power to this brand new September movie. The two actors play professional fixers who would rather work alone — and definitely don't want to work with each other. But when they find themselves on the same job, these lone wolves are forced to team up.
Wolfs hits theaters September 20 and stars George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Amy Ryan, Austin Abrams, and Poorna Jagannathan.
Roadside Flix
Model-turned-war correspondent Lee Miller travels across Europe, capturing the world in the midst of World War II. As the official war photographer for Vogue, she documents the horrors she sees around her, creating some of the most iconic images of the 20th century.
