Is It Weird to Shop at Children’s Stores?

As much as we love swapping tips and tricks to solve our biggest fashion and beauty dilemmas, there are some questions we may not feel comfortable asking our friends about, let alone Google without going incognito. Don’t worry. We’ve got you covered. In this series, we’re tackling those embarrassing queries by turning to experts in the field to get you the answers you need — minus any awkward feelings.

As we swap out our beloved summer styles for fall favorites, we often feel overcome with a desire to shop for fresh fashion finds. Our love for teddy coats, cashmere sweaters, and brand new booties can be spendy, but often it’s possible to find very similar styles in kid’s stores with significantly lower price tags. Wait, what? This week we pose a common — if somewhat embarrassing — question: If children’s sizes fit, is it weird to shop in that section instead? To get some real- world advice, we turned to a few of our favorite petite women. Jenny Altman is a fashion editor and brand consultant, she’s five feet tall, and she wears a women’s size zero or two and a girl’s size 14. Genevieve Yraola is a fashion and lifestyle editor and stylist and is just over 5 feet tall. She wears a women’s extra small and a girl’s size 11/12 or 13/14 — depending on the desired fit.

Brit + Co: Who can get away with shopping in the children’s sections?

Jenny Altman: In general, petite women. If you’re curvy and/or have big boobs, kids clothing will not be a good fit because kids clothes don’t have curves. I am neither of those, so it works!

B+C: What children’s stores have the most grown-up-accessible clothes?

Genevieve Yraola: The Zara line for kids is styled like a mini adult, which is perfect! Uniqlo, because their adult sizing does run large, and they make all their great basics exactly the same for the kid’s line. Ralph Lauren boys for great tweedy blazers — their shoulder lines fit me perfectly. And Bergdorf Goodman for their European brands, like Moncler. Their size 14s are literally half the price I would be spending for adult sizing.

JA: Zara, GapKids, J.Crew Kids, and Lululemon’s younger brand, Ivivva. I like that the merch is different! I don’t shop at [adult] Zara, it’s too basic and a ton of women might have the same piece, but if I shop [children’s] Zara, nobody else I know will be wearing the same piece!

Brit + Co Pick: Zara Buckled Platform Oxfords ($40)

B+C: What should we definitely pass up when browsing at a kid’s store?

JA: Obviously I skip the kiddie-looking pieces — [meaning] no ruffles, sparkles, bows, sayings, or animals. Solid, minimal, sophisticated pieces are the finds. I would never try jeans in a kids store (they DO NOT sell jeans with hips). Tops, dresses, and flat shoes are all wins. Hair accessories and jewelry are usually too “fun” looking and not for me.

GY: I only choose pieces that are designed to be “mini-adult,” and I avoid anything with glitter or pink that might feel too kiddish.

B+C: Should we go incognito?

JA: Not at all. I shop for my daughter, myself, and my mother in the kid’s department. It’s not intentional; if I see something fabulous, I consider it for whomever it would be good for. As a stylist, I shop in all stores for all people of all sizes. Embarrassment went out the window a long time ago!

Brit + Co Pick: Chloé Bomber Jacket ($391)

B+C: Do you try on clothes in the store?

GY: These days, there are so many people buying from the kid’s section, that I’m not afraid to actually go into the Zara fitting room and try on items.

B+C: What are some of the best kid’s items you’ve found?

JA: Zara metallic sandals under 40 dollars. Gap Fit kids clothes are half the price, and I like the fit so much better! Ivivva, too, which has awesome leggings, running shorts, sports bras, and jackets that are all much better priced than Lulu and still have a great fit and the same amazing tech features!

GY: There was a fur coat that I bought from Bergdorf Goodman that was fantastic!

Brit + Co Pick: J.Crew Kids Metallic Micropleat Skirt ($55)

Okay, we already know that Nobody Wants This season 2 is on its way, and that it's going to feature a new love interest for Morgan (bye bye Sasha!), and on March 7, Netflix gave us a brand new piece of info: the series is now filming! And Kirsten Bell and Adam Brody are getting cozy — not that I'm surprised.

Here's what we know about Nobody Wants This season 2 filming.

Kirsten Bell and Adam Brody are back as Joanne and Noah!

Netflix

Nobody Wants This is in production as of March 7, 2025 — and new episodes are set to premiere on Netflix this year! Two seasons in two years? We are so back.

In the first production image from season 2, Joanne and Noah are lying on the couch with Noah's arm wrapped around Joanne. Joanne's wearing a navy and red jacket while Noah's opted for a dark gray hoodie. Cozy!

Nobody Wants This season 2 was renewed in October of 2024. Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me," creator and executive producer Erin Foster said in a statement. "The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers' reactions to this series now that it's out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed."

Executive producer and showrunner Bruce Eric Kaplan added that the rom-com TV show "is such a unique and beautiful show and I am already having the best time working on it.”

We've had a blast watching it — and I know viewers are going to enjoy all the new episodes.

Where is Nobody Wants This season 2 filming?

Adam Rose/Netflix

Season 2 is in production in Los Angeles, California, where they filmed season 1.

The new BTS photos of Nobody Wants This season 2 possible revealed a huge idea about when we'll see Joanne and Noah on our screens again. The second picture of Adam Brody looks alarming, but the third still shows a little bit of blood by his mouth. In our opinion, it looks like he's wearing a costume while filming because the sixth photo shows Justine Lupe wearing something that feels very Julia Roberts-esque via Pretty Woman.

The second comment on Deux Moi's Instagram post says, "oh so this is 100% coming out in the fall" while follow-up statements like "So, will it be a Halloween release or a Purim release? October or March?! We need to know now" and "Ty for the spoiler alert! 🚨 so appreciative ❤️❤️" seem to agree on a potential fall release date.

Crossing our fingers Nobody Wants This will be back between September and November!

You weren’t the only one tearing up during90-minute finale of The White Lotus. Season 3 of Mike White’s series has officially concluded, with viewers left shocked, heartbroken, and all-around emotional. And it turns out, the cast felt the same (warning:lots of spoilers ahead).

In preparation for the series' end, Max took over the Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake Village, California, to create a Thailand-inspired White Lotus wellness oasis. The retreat included cooking and mixology classes with Ketel One Vodka and Tanqueray Gin, meditation sessions, and a moving panel discussion (hosted by Queer Eye’s Tan France) with the ensemble after they, too, watched the finale for the first time.

During the cast’s Q&A, we got the tea on how Aimee Lou Wood truly felt about her character’s death, plus Patrick Schwarzenegger’s initial reaction to the explosive ending.

Scroll to see The White Lotuscast's reaction to that heartbreaking season 3 finale...

HBO

The White Lotus Cast's Reactions to Chelsea and Rick’s Death

As audience members know, Chelsea and Rick were the characters that met a gruesome end.

Wood said of her character’s death, “For about two weeks before we shot it, I felt super weird. It was this odd, ominous thing that was just hanging over us.” Her character is a casualty of an intense gunfight ignited by her boyfriend Rick (played by Walton Goggins), who attempted to save her by carrying her to safety. “And then it was the hottest day ever. Walton had to carry me so many times, and it was so hard.

In that time, Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong) achieves his vindication by shooting Rick in the back. “Chelsea doesn’t know what’s going to happen to her,” Wood said, adding that the scene “looked exactly how it felt, which was really strange.” There’s a final, dark shot of Chelsea dead, faced down in the pond and Rick faced up, mimicking a Yin and Yang symbol.

HBO

Meanwhile, Thapthimthong felt like his character’s actions were “justified.”

Thapthimthong said, “At first, I felt like, ‘I don’t want to shoot him in the back.’ I wish he would turn around and have a little gunfight with me so we can have a little action scene. But we had a discussion with Mike, and I remember he said, ‘Trust me,’ it will be justified. I feel like it really was.” Gaitok then goes on to receive the promotion he’s always wanted, so you can say things worked out for him.

HBO

Patrick Schwarzenegger, who arguably conveyed the biggest character arc in Saxon Ratliff, built a spiritual connection with Chelsea that translated IRL.

Schwarzenegger told France, “I knew something happened to Chelsea, but I didn’t know the extent of everything. It’s this really surreal weird feeling right now of just spending so much time with all of these cast members and then watching someone die. I don’t know how to describe it. You feel like something really happened.” We did too, Patrick, we did too.

As Aimee Lou Wood said on the panel, “There’s a lot in that episode that made me f---ing sob.” And we couldn’t think of a more perfect way to describe the series ending.

Other Can’t Miss Cast Quotes From The 'The White Lotus' Finale Panel:

HBO

Patrick Schwarzenegger (Saxon Ratliff)

“I think once it happened with Chelsea, I started crying in the theater. I looked over at Charlotte [Le Bon] — it was an emotional moment.”

HBO

Sarah Catherine Cook (Piper Ratliff)

“I was like, ‘Wow everyone in this episode really came to some enlightenment, and she’s trying to get enlightened the whole time.’ Then she’s like, ‘No, I guess I’m spoiled.’ I love that.”

HBO

Sam Nivola (Lochlan Ratliff)

“I've never died in anything before. It was fun to get to do that.”

HBO

Leslie Bibb (Kate Bohr)

“I remember when we were filming because the girls were the first ones to shoot our villa, and we all read the scripts and we were like, ‘Oh, our storyline is boring’....I don't think, honestly, we thought that it was going to take off the way it is.”

HBO

Nicholas Duvernay (Zion Lindsey)

“Finally getting even just a little bit of justice for Tanya was amazing. Amazing to finally, over three seasons, give her that closure, essentially."

HBO

Jon Gries (Greg Hunt)

“I think Season 2 surprised me more somehow. But I guess the enormity of the wealth surprised me.”

HBO

Jason Isaacs (Timothy Ratliff)

“I look at my kids I love in real life, these three, and I love them on screen as well. I think there’s more to them. I doubted them, and they will be fine. They just won’t be fine in gigantic houses with huge Tesla trucks.”
