This $12 Cream Blush Is Always My Most-Complimented Makeup Look

cream blush review

I’m a blush girly at heart. If there’s one thing I can’t leave the house without, it’s blush. Give me color. Give me glow! Given my undying passion, I’ve tried countless blushes in my day – but there’s one blush in particular that I truly can never shut up about.

Meredith Holser

Ever since discovering the sheer magic of cream makeup (especially for crafting a super glowy look), the Undone Beauty Lip to Cheek Cream has become my #1 go-to. I’ve nearly used up all of the product that came in my first palette, but I definitely have a new one on-lock in my makeup bag when I run out entirely.

So, why cream blush? As much as I love powder blushes like the Wet n Wild Color Icon Blush (that still delivers really good color payoff), I find that cream blushes typically have a natural shiny sheen to them since they’re more fluid. I don’t rock with matte makeup much anymore, so this shininess is a must. I want to look hydrated and glowy – what more could a girl want? This Lip to Cheek Cream does it all for me.

Meredith Holser

My favorite part about this cream blush is that it’s wildly easy to use – no makeup brushes here, mama! I just dip a few fingertips into it and pat it on my face. This allows me to control the application and use it super quickly for touch-ups when I’m on-the-go. More than anything, it’s impressively opaque (but buildable), so I can customize my glow.

Meredith Holser

Another upside to the Undone Beauty Lip to Cheek Cream’s opaqueness is that I really don’t need to use a ton of product to achieve my intended look. I’ve truly beat up my current palette (just look at the state of that thing), but have had it in my rotation for honestly – and don’t come for me – a couple of years now. For a $12 makeup product, I’ve taken advantage of not only the quality, but the affordability, too.

I use the color Rosewood, which Undone Beauty describes as a “peachy red with warm undertones.” I find that the warmer side of this shade allows me to skip bronzer altogether, since it typically blends out to be a nice balance of both blush and bronzer. A blushy bronze tone, if you will! Of course, I can only speak for my light, very white skin tone, so I’m unsure how it would pay off on darker skin.

Meredith Holser

I can use the Undone Beauty Lip to Cheek Cream on bare, SPF-prepped skin or on top of my base makeup (tinted moisturizer, concealer, and a bit of setting powder), and it still has the same effect. When I use it on my bare skin, it melts so satisfyingly into my moisturizer and sunscreen and doesn’t look patchy at all.

I find that if I apply it over powder, I have to do a little bit (like, a tiny, tiny, tiny bit) of extra blending to make it look seamless. Regardless, I wear it every day and have not stopped obsessing.

Meredith Holser

Before / After

The Lip to Cheek Cream is infused with coconut extract which feels very moisturizing, plus the formula is entirely vegan and cruelty free (always a nice bonus)! I don’t always use it on my lips, but when I do, I like to dab a little bit on, and it looks like the perfect natural wash. It’s just not always glossy like I like my lips to be!

The Final Verdict

Amazon

Undone Beauty Lip to Cheek Palette

The Undone Beauty Lip to Cheek Cream is an absolute must-have if you’re looking for glowy makeup products. It’s easy to use and is highly customizable based on the amount of color you want on your cheeks. It’s the perfect compact to take on-the-go when you need a little extra oomph, and for $12, you really can’t beat it.

More Cream Blushes I Love

Amazon

e.l.f. Monochromatic Multi Stick

When I'm not dipping into the Undone Beauty blush, I have a few other cream blushes I like to use for a wash of color. First up is this stick from e.l.f., which is also super easy to use! This blend-able blush wears very lightweight on my skin, and I always enjoy the little boost of shimmer it provides. It's also only $5 and comes in a ton of different colors!

Glossier

Glossier Cloud Paint

This Glossier blush is an OG of mine. Like the Undone Beauty blush, I only need to use a little bit of product to get a massive color payoff from the Cloud Paint. This color, Beam, suits me best, but Glossier provides a range of shades to find your perfect match. It's just $22 for 0.33 fluid ounces of product, which I find the value to be impeccable. I've carried this little tube around for years.

INC.redible Three Love Lip, Cheek & Eye Tint Stick

Finally, this $12 blush stick comes in clutch for a vibrant effect. I find that it isn't as opaque as the blushes I tend to use regularly, but it's a great product to keep in my purse for touch-ups throughout the day. You can also use this on your lips and eyelids – gotta love a 3-in-1!

Due to the hot summer sun, I like my makeup and skincare to feel light and not too cake-y — and that's exactly where my favorite french girl beauty brands come in. The quintessential "french girl" look is effortless, natural, and seemingly barely there, meant to enhance your given gorgeous features with just a few light extra touches. With that in mind, I accumulated my top favorite beauty brands from skincare to makeup to show you everything you need to get that effortless, french girl look that we're all aiming for this summer. Straight from your pinterest board to real life, here are all of my favorite products.

Typology

Typology Tinted Serum

Want that natural, french girl skin? This tinted serum is the key! It's vegan and made with squalane, aloe vera, and vitamin C, which is essential for hydrated and healthy looking skin with a bit of tint for coverage. I love a tinted serum because they're somewhat dual purpose, both giving your skin coverage and making it healthier.

Rouje

Rouje Beauty Beach Waves Hair Set

I've shopped from Rouje (founded by Jeanne Dumas, french style icon) for quite a while, and their pieces never miss! Alongside their exceptional fashion selection, they've launched a beauty section that's just as good! This hair set with hairspray, hair oil, a chic comb, and makeup bag couldn't get any cuter. This is how you get the messy, texturized, french girl hair that's all over pinterest! I couldn't be more obsessed!

Rouje

Rouje Beauty Blush and Highlight Palette

Another Rouje Beauty item, because this palette will be essential to getting that natural, dewy french girl skin! And it has everything you need in one palette. You have a lip color, blush, and highlighter to give you a glass-skin glow! It's an all-in-one product that I adore.

L'Occitane

L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil

I must confess...I have a serious addiction to this product. It's an almond shower gel that smells like heaven. L'Occitane is an OG french brand that's made in the South of Francenear Provence, and this gel has to be an absolute favorite of mine. It starts off as an oil that emulsifies with water to make a shower gel, and it smells absolutely phenomenal. This is a product I use every single day without fail. Fair warning: you will definitely get addicted to it too.

Amazon

Caudalie Elixir Spray

I've used this spray for over a decade, and no I'm not exaggerating. Caudalie is a french beauty brand that I use religiously, and I've tried almost every product — none of them disappoint. This spray is a daily ritual for me, every morning and every night. It has this fresh scent and cooling mist that relaxes you, making you feel so refreshed. Plus, this spray acts as a toner and really works as a great base for your skincare. A 100/10 french brand for me! Xoxo, a devoted Caudalie stan.

Violette FR

Violette FR Bisou Balm

This brand was started by Violette, a young french woman who was the Creative Director of Makeup at Guerlain at only 33 years old. Needless to say, she has quite a trusted resume in the beauty industry. This brand, Violette FR, is one I used often. I love their skincare products, and have heard raving reviews of her makeup as well. This Bisou Balm is the key to a tinted lip with some color and hydration! This is the quintessential french style — some coverage, but never too much!

Violette FR

Violette FR Bisou Blush

Want rosy french-girl cheeks? This bison blush is just the thing you need! This would be the perfect travel size item to throw in your bag to touch up your cheeks and lips on the go!

Amazon

Avene Eue Thermal Spray

I had to add another spray because this is a french girl must-have! I keep a travel-size in my purse and spray it whenever I feel like I need some touch-ups or hydration. I love this french brand, and always stop at the pharmacy in France to grab plenty of their products to take home.

Amazon

Embryolisse Moisturizer

This moisturizer is one of my favorites I've ever used! It's so rich and thick, and it works as the best primer to sit under your makeup. Almost every french girl beauty tutorial I've seen swears by this moisturizer, so definitely run to pick this one up on Amazon!

Amazon

Bioderma Micellar Water

And now we have the last step in our beauty routine: makeup remover! This is seriously such a go-to when it comes to removing makeup and getting it all off. I've been using this for years and it really is one of the best makeup removers and micellar waters. An essential in your french girl routine!

We're just a little over four months away from the premiere of Gladiator 2and the anticipation is real. It's no secret that we've been imagining what Paul Mescal will look like while he's in battle, but we were admittedly unprepared for the first look at him as Lucius. Just typing the name makes us feel warm and fuzzy inside. Maybe even spicy.

But Vanity Fairtruly gave us a treat because they shared even more BTS looks at the Gladiator 2 cast. By the looks of it, this movie is going be the pre-Thanksgiving treat we talk about over dinner.

www.instagram.com

We just have one question: Is it too late to apply to be extras in Gladiator 2? Based on Paul Mescal's muscles, it appears his character Lucius has been training for the exact moment he'll enter the area to fight his opponents.

Just look at his stance in the first image. That is the stance of a confident man who's strategically planning how to take down whoever dares to approach him with malicious intent in their eyes.

Aside from that, we're excited to see Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, Denzel Washington, and Joseph Quinn lose themselves in their characters. Speaking of Joseph Quinn, we almost didn't recognize him as Emperor Geta!

www.instagram.com

Lucius definitely looks like he knows how to skillfully wield a sword — and do serious damage to his opponents. Also, there's something in his eyes that signals he is not there to lose.

No one ever said being a gladiator would be easy, but a part of us wishes we could be the extras that wipe the blood and sweat from Lucius' brow after each battle. Alas, we'll just have to pine for him from afar.

We hope you have as much fun scrolling through Vanity Fair's first look at Gladiator 2 as we are.

P.S. We won't tell anyone if you screenshot a few of these pics...for research.

Knowing your hair type is one of the most valuable and beneficial things to your hair health — especially when it comes to the porosity of your hair. Hair porosity means the level at which your hair absorbs moisture or water, and it's categorized as low, medium, or high. Sometimes, low porosity hair — which is slower to absorb water — can keep you from getting the proper hydration to keep your hair looking and feeling healthy.

Dr. Ross Kopelman, hair transplant surgeon, explained, "Low porosity hair has tightly closed cuticles that make it difficult for moisture to penetrate the hair shaft. This can lead to dryness and product buildup, as products tend to sit on the hair rather than being absorbed." He also mentioned that this can lead to breakage and tangling since your hair is having a hard time retaining moisture.

Luckily, there's a way to help low porosity hair maintain its health, get rid of excess buildup, and retain moisture through specific products like shampoos and masks. I talked to experts Clyde Haygood (celebrity hairstylist), Dr. Ross Kopelman(hair surgeon and expert), and Kseniya Popova (lead chemist and head of R&D for The Rootist) to get all their product recommendations for the best low porosity hair products to try right now!

Amazon

SheaMoisture Hair Mask

Dr. Ross Kopelman recommended this hair mask from SheaMoisture, noting that it will help heal your hair cuticles and allow products to more deeply penetrate the hair. This is exactly what we're looking for, since with low porosity hair, products have a hard time reaching your hair cuticles and fully absorbing. This will also help any breakage you might've gotten given your hair type!

Amazon

Kinky Curly Knot Today Leave-In Conditioner

This was another great leave-in recommended by Dr. Kopelman to help repair breakage and attract moisture. He says that it has glycerin and honey which both help your low porosity hair to really retain the moisture in a light, non-greasy way.

Amazon

The Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo

If you're needing a bit of a deeper cleanse but have very sensitive hair, then this recommendation from Dr. Kopelman might be just what you're looking for! He let us know that this shampoo is thorough and effective, yet still gentle for any sensitive hair-types! According to his solid advice, you only need to use it once a month to remove any buildup that might be preventing your hair from being able to fully absorb moisture!

Amazon

The Rootist AHA Pre-Shampoo

Lead Chemist and Head of R&D for The Rootist, Kseniya Popova, says that this pre-shampoo is great for the low porosity hair gals! She gave us great insight by saying, "This pre-shampoo treatment is fantastic for those with low porosity who want to target product build-up and excess oil. The alpha hydroxy acids glycolic acid and lactic acid and apple cider vinegar help to gently exfoliate without stripping natural, healthy oils that need to coat the hair."

The Rootist

BioBrew Fermented Strengthening Serum

Kseniya Popova also told us about this great strengthening serum from her company, The Rootist! She says that it is a great serum that has super nourishing ingredients like moringa oil, along with vitamin C that help to condition cuticles and boost hydration. And bonus! They added a heat-protecting active, for up to 450 degrees, that is super beneficial to low porosity hair when using hot tools like curling irons and hair dryers.

The Rootist

Strengthen Concentrated Shampoo and Conditioner

Kseniya also recommended this amazing shampoo and conditioner duo from her company that she says is great for low porosity hair. She explained that they help to cleanse the roots, scalp, and hair without causing damage or stripping moisture — exactly what you need for cleansing low porosity hair without stripping away all the natural oils and moisture excessively. Kseniya said, "It is necessary to strengthen low porosity hair fibers because they are prone to brittleness and breakage. The Strengthen Concentrated Shampoo contains yuzu ceramides and hydrolyzed proteins that will help to strengthen the hair fibers of low porosity hair. And the Strengthen Concentrated Conditioner contains coating emollients, such as coconut oil, acai oil, rice brand and passion fruit oils that lock in necessary moisture" This means that you'll really be able to lock in moisture, down to the root!

Amazon

Pura D'or Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo

We got a great recommendation from celebrity hairstylist, Clyde Haygood, when it comes to drier low porosity hair. He says this shampoo will be great because it infuses biotin, keratin and caffeine to boost hair health and shine in a lightweight formula. This mean it won't be too heavy or greasy, but still helping to retain moisture.

Amazon

Pura D'or Hair Thinning Therapy

Dealing with hair thinningand low porosity? Well, hair expert Clyde Haygood has just the thing for you. He said this mask is one of his favorite products for how it hydrates the hair, targeting both hair thinning and low porosity. He also added, " Using a hair mask once a week is also a great way to strengthen strands and protect hair from heat styling damage. I also love that it’s free from harsh chemicals, hypo-allergenic, vegan and cruelty free which is ideal for all hair types." Sounds like just what we're looking for!

Weekly Horoscope Themes For July 1-7

Tanya Staton

This week presents opportunities to explore our relationships and things that bring happiness. The love planet Venus is in the sign of Cancer, and it will be our guiding celestial body, shedding light on where we are in our journey regarding relationships and emotional security. Like last week, the best course in navigating Cancer season is to align primarily with your heart and intuition to help narrow down the root of your needs.

Listen carefully before reacting.

We begin the week by focusing on deepening our emotional connections and commitments, as Venus is in sextile with Juno on July 1. If you are in a relationship, your union will turn toward harmony as you engage in heartfelt discussions while factoring in compassion for past misunderstandings. If you're not in a relationship and need to make amends with anyone else who pulls your heartstrings, you can get to the source of your disconnect. If this isn't possible, write a letter, journal, or meditate on what you desire to release to attract peace.

Energetically, you will experience a breakthrough in your love story as you open your heart.

The veil begins to lift as Neptune's retrograde starts on July 2. It will remain in this backspin motion until October 11. You are encouraged to reflect on your spiritual beliefs and intentions in life. Slow down and assess your approach to living your authentic self while becoming aligned with your soul. This retrograde period also invites you to reassess your dreams and bring the truth to light regarding unresolved matters. On the same day, Mercury enters Leo, infusing you with the ability to articulate your ideas with confidence and charisma. If you're also in need of star power in your relationship, this day will fully support you if you wish to initiate a conversation regarding structure and intention with Venus in trine to Saturn. Prioritize your responsibilities while narrowing down what's needed to create stability in your love life. It will also be favorable to solidify your bonds and make practical investments.

On July 3, be mindful of intense communications and power struggles as Mercury opposes Pluto. This aspect may bring hidden tensions to the surface, urging you to navigate through deep psychological insights and potential conflicts. Then, the New Moon in Cancer on July 5 marks a powerful new beginning in matters of home, family, and emotional security. Set intentions for nurturing relationships and creating a supportive environment for personal growth. Factor intuition and perform a manifestation ritual involving what you desire within your emotional security.

Healing in relationships takes center stage on July 6 with Venus square Chiron. This planetary duo highlights vulnerabilities and past wounds, encouraging you to hold a compassionate space for yourself and others. This day will show how to step into your self-acceptance regarding unresolved issues. Let go and believe in your light as you focus on the good you have done solo or in a partnership. Observe your relationship dynamics with empathy and openness to facilitate healing and growth. July 7 brings surprises and opportunities for excitement in both love and creativity with Venus sextile Uranus. Expect a flash of insight or inspiration that will ignite innovation and spontaneity in your relationships and artistic endeavors. Mercury sextile Jupiter on the same day will boost your mental agility, bringing optimism and positive communication. This aspect supports learning, travel, and sharing ideas, making it an excellent time for broadening your perspective and seeking new opportunities. Overall, this week invites deep emotional insights, healing in relationships, and expansive growth in creativity and communication. Stay open to new experiences and embrace the transformative energies at play.

If there’s one aspect of Harry Potter that has stuck with me all these years, it’s the snacks. Butterbeer! Pumpkin juice! The Hogwarts Express Trolley! Every time I watch any of my favorite Harry Potter movies, I can’t help but crave sweets. If you’re in the same boat (AKA you need a trip to The Three Broomsticks, like, yesterday), then you absolutely must check out Food Network’s new Harry Potter baking show. Not only is Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking being hosted by two of the movies' actors, but it's also being filmed at the studios you know and love. Whip up some Harry Potter cocktails and let's get baking!

What is the wizarding world cooking show?

Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking is a baking competition show that's all about the Wizarding World. According to the official Instagram announcement, "pastry chefs will craft spellbinding sweet creations inspired by the @wizardingworld of @HarryPotter." We're in for endless chocolate frogs, polyjuice potions, and butterbeers.

The best part is that the series will be filmed at the Warner Bros. Studio in London (which, FYI, is where all the movies were filmed), which makes the show even more magical!

When is the Harry Potter baking show coming out?

Anastasia Ankudinova/Pexels

We know the show is coming later this year, but we don't have an official release date quite yet. Considering September 1 is Back to Hogwarts Day, the fall and the holidays are the perfect time for Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking to air!
