10 March Crowdfunding Projects We Want Funded ASAP

We are totally obsessed with crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter, Indiegogo and GoFundMe. There’s something exciting about the idea that someone sitting at the cubicle next to you could be formulating the next best idea in his or her spare time. Being an inventor is no longer for people who can network with the right investors; it’s about having an awesome enough idea that the general public will be excited about. Whether it’s sparking an important political movement or adding joy to your busy life, March’s best crowdfunded projects aim to support and improve our communities.

1. World’s Fastest Portable Charger: Not only is this charger twice as fast as the ones currently on the market, it’s half the size. As if that wasn’t enough to make you wish you could buy it now, it also has two USB ports instead of just one, so you can charge your phone and tablet at the same time. It’s every tech addict’s dream come true.

2. Pancake Printer: 3D printers have been getting all the love lately, but we think the PancakeBot is just as cool. The printer creates a pancake in any shape you want: castle, unicorn, Ryan Gosling… the possibilities are endless. It comes with computer software that allows users to trace the shape of what they want their pancake to look like. The file is stored on a little SD card, which is inserted into the printer. Add batter, and voila!

3. The Smartest Toy Ever: CogniToys has such advanced technology that it has gained the attention of Wired, Mashable, Yahoo! Tech and The New York Observer, among other publications. Kids can actually have an ongoing conversation with the toy, which becomes more advanced as the child gets older. Not only can it tell stories, it can also ask and answer thousands of questions. If only it could cook and clean, right?

4. Dungeons & Dragons Themed Bar: Despite the stereotype, Dungeons & Dragons fans like to go out and drink as much of the rest of us. Four friends are trying to get enough seed money to create Dungeons & Drafts, a bar where geeks and gamers can mingle together and play games. The bar would be located in Colorado, and so far over $35,000 has been raised.

5. Audiocase: Audiocase promises to revolutionize your music listening experience with their modern day version of the classic ’80s boombox. It’s light enough to carry anywhere you want a dance party (which is basically everywhere, right?) and it uses Bluetooth technology to connect with your devices. With a 24-hour battery life, you’ll be partying til dawn.

6. Gender-Free Shoes: Nik Kacey left a comfortable job at Google to launch a gender-neutral shoe company. As someone who identifies as a third sex and not male or female, buying shoes has always been a miserable experience for Nik. Using EU sizing, Nik is launching a line of derby-style shoes made by some of the best shoe makers in Portugal. The luxury footwear has been tested and approved by others in the transgender community, and they were even shown at a DapperQ fashion show.

7. Farm-to-Mug Tea: Being more conscious of where our food is coming from has sparked the farm-to-table movement, but what about what we drink? This project is putting a human face on where consumers’ tea leaves are coming from by sourcing them from Farmer Chang, who lives in the luscious mountains of Taiwan. His Misty Mountain Oolong tea in particular is said to be floral, buttery and smooth, and it’s just one of the premium teas for sale.

8. Microwavable Notebook: No, this isn’t something you put on a plate next to your Bagel Bites. Rocketbook is a high-tech way to go back to the basics: writing with a pen and paper. A lot of people prefer writing to typing in meetings or when out and about, but this digital pen and paper gives writers all the benefits of using a tablet by digitizing the notes and storing them in a cloud. Each page has buttons that allow users to easily email the doc or Dropbox it. Once you fill up the notebook, all you have to do to clear the pages is microwave it.

9. Smartphone-based Light Switches: The idea behind Switchmate is pretty basic, but of course, it took a forward-thinking person to actually make it happen. You put these over your light switches and then synch them with your phone. No more having to pull yourself out of bed just to hit the switch.

10. Youth Homeless Awareness: Filmmaker Rotimi Rainwater knows what it’s like to be homeless. He used to live on the streets and after keeping his past a secret for more than 20 years, he’s now using his past to educate others. Rainwater is trekking across the country to make his documentary, Lost In America, andlook at the complex social issues that surround youth homelessness. His voice represents the 1.5 million youth without homes.

Audiences loved the way Greta Gerwig's Little Women brought all four March sisters to life, and Netflix's Anne with an E became so popular that when the show was canceled after season 3, 1.7 million fans signed a petition to revive the series. It all just proves that classic adaptations can make the original story even more powerful.

And the newest movie based on a book is going to be one we think about forever — and not just because of its cast. Emerald Fennell (who you'll recognize from The Crown and her work as writer & director on Satburn) is adapting Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights and Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are leading the cast!

The book, published in 1847, continues to grip readers, and it's become the blueprint for moody complexity — just like Emerald Fennell's Promising Young Woman, which won the Oscar for Best Screenplay thanks to its scathing look at sexual assault. Well, the Em's are coming together for this new adaptation.

Here's everything we know about Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights — and your first look at the movie.

Here's Your First Look At 'Wuthering Heights'

The first look at Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights is getting some seriously mixed reactions. The photo features a close-up image of someone (maybe Margot Robbie's) with their fingers and a few blades of grass in their mouth.

"CAN NOT WAIT," one Instagram user said, along with a couple fire emojis. But the intimate (and somewhat shocking) image also has some users asking, "what in the saltburn?"

Is Wuthering Heights going to be in theaters?

Focus Features

It appears director Emerald Fennell and producer Margot Robbie are pushing for a theatrical release, which is why they've reportedly turned down a Netflix offer of $150 million.

Despite the fact Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said theatrical releases are "just not our business," and the company has stuck to at-home streaming instead, they did break that pattern for Knives Out: Glass Onion in 2022. The movie appeared in around 600 theaters the day before Thanksgiving, but left a week later ahead of its December 23 debut on the streamer.

Co-CEO Reed Hastings told The Hollywood Reporter that keeping the movie in theaters could have made Netflix more money, but later said they just wanted to "break through the noise" and get movie lovers excited for the film to come to Netflix.

All that to be said, Margot Robbie (whose Barbie made over $1 billion worldwide) and Emerald Fennell (whose Promising Young Woman nabbed her an Oscar win and two other nominations) know how to capture the imaginations of movie lovers everywhere. And it could definitely be in their favor to stick to a theatrical release. Stay tuned for official news on where you can watch Wuthering Heights!

Wuthering Heights Cast

The Wuthering Heights movie will be led by Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie as Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, respectively. Margot will also produce with her production company LuckyChap, which worked behind the scenes on Emerald Fennell's Saltburn and Promising Young Woman.

While some fans were initially excited about the casting, others were concerned about the fact that in the book, Heathcliff is described as "dark skinned." He also tells Nelly that, "I wish I had light hair and a fair skin, and was dressed, and behaved as well, and had a chance of being as rich as he will be!" Um, it looks like Jacob Elordi definitely has fair skin to me.

"Heathcliff is described as a dark-skinned brown man in the book and a major plot point is that he was subjected to racist abuse by his adopted family," one tweet (which has over 8 million views) says. "But yeah sure Jacob Elordi is perfect!"

Another says, "Film studios will say 'We are committed to diverse casting' and then cast Jacob Elordi to play Heathcliff, one of the more famous people of color in literature, whose race is crucial to both his character and the story."

Check back here to see who will play characters like Edgar Linton, Nelly Dean, Isabella Linton, and Lockwood.

Wuthering Heights Plot

Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights follows the Earnshaws and the Lintons, who are living in the Yorkshire Moors in the 1880s. Their lives change forever when the Earnshaws take in Heathcliff. Like any good dramatic novel, passion lies beneath proper connections, marriages, and societal expectations — and despite Catherine and Heathcliffe's feelings for each other, they have to choose between security and love.

While shopping at Costco can feel like a total treasure hunt, you might just be making some major shopping mistakes along the way that put your membership at risk. If you’re looking to keep your grocery budget in order and discover only the best that Costco has to offer, you’ll want to keep reading for the most common mistakes to avoid when shopping there.

Before you embark on your next trip, here are 7 mistakes you don’t want to make at Costco.

Reddit

1. Going in without a plan

Costco is huge, so going in without a plan or a grocery list can turn overwhelming pretty quickly. If you’re not the type to get overwhelmed, then you probably get super excited about all Costco has to offer instead – and while it's so easy to go shopping-crazy and buy large quantities of items there, you should be strategic about what Costco items you’ll actually use, when you’ll use them, and more importantly, how to store them all when you get home!

Reddit

2. Assuming all prices are good

This one is a big no-no, especially if you’re watching your budget. Just because something is at Costco doesn't always mean it's the best deal! Smaller quantities or sales at other major grocery stores can be cheaper per unit, so make sure to check the posted unit price at Costco to ensure you're getting the best value.

3. Skipping the gas station

If you’re paying for a Costco membership, you don’t want to skip the gas pump! Costco’s gas prices are often significantly lower – so it’s worth filling up before (or after) each shopping trip. The same principle goes for more of Costco’s additional services like travel discounts, optical care, hearing aids, and the auto shop.

Reddit

4. Avoiding free samples

Sorry, but you’re simply crazy if you don’t indulge in free samples! Costco;’s free sample booths can be a great way to try new products before fully committing to bulk purchases. Plus, they can be a nice power-up during your shopping trip!

Reddit

5. Shopping in peak hours

If you also despise people-y grocery shopping trips, you’re going to want to avoid visiting Costco during peak hours. Costco can get extremely crowded, especially on weekends and weekday evenings. If you can pull it off, shop during off-peak hours (early mornings on weekdays) to avoid long lines and congested aisles.

Reddit

6. Forgetting bags or storage bins

Longtime Costco members may already know this, but if you’re new to the Costco life, it’s important to remember that Costco doesn’t provide traditional shopping bags. It’s a good idea to bring your own reusable bags or have storage bins (like boxes) prepped and ready in your car for easy loading and unloading. Oftentimes, though, Costco will supply the boxes from emptied products.

Reddit

7. Skipping the food court

The Costco food court offers some of the cheapest and most filling meals around. We could eat there every day of the week, TBH. When you take the $1.50 hot dogs and $3.99 chicken bakes into consideration, that’s pretty good. Don’t miss out!

Any Hunger Games fan will agree that one of the best parts about Catching Fire is that it offers a whole new look at Haymitch Abernathy's character. The mentor (played by Woody Harrelson in the film franchise) won the 2nd Quarter Quell, and the brief mention of his Games totally captured fans' attention, leading to fan art, fanfiction, and even some viral short films. Well, we're finally getting the full story thanks to a brand new Haymitch Hunger Games book, just in time for spring 2025!

Here's everything we know about Sunrise On The Reaping, coming March 2025.

Who's narrating the audiobook?

Cam McLeod/Paramount

It was confirmed on February 3 that Yellowstone actor Jefferson White will narrate the Sunrise on the Reaping audiobook.

“It's an honor to be a small part of a world I’ve loved for so long — Suzanne Collins is a genius and it's equal parts exhilarating and terrifying to be back in Panem," he told People.

The Sunrise on the Reaping cover was unveiled the morning of October 16 and it's just as beautiful as we hoped! It continues the tradition from the other books of a bold background color with gold and white accents, and I'll admit I was surprised when I first saw the snake and the mockingjay. The snake is obviously a nod to President Snow, and we know that both Lucy Gray Baird and Katniss Everdeen are two songbirds the President was never able to shake. Will Haymitch Abernathy become one as well?

In the original books, Haymitch starts out as an angry man with no friends or family who always has a drink in his hand, but by the end of Mockingjay, he's a wise, caring father figure for Katniss — and I'm betting Sunrise on the Reaping will show us plenty of those character traits as he has to make his way through the Hunger Games.

One detail on the cover that concerns me is the fact the snake and the songbird are connected, and that a sun sits between them. David Levithan, Scholastic's vice president, publisher, and editorial director told TODAY that just like the other covers, this one features "one of the central themes of the series: how conflicting forces can be connected by their common nature, the songbird and the snake springing from the same source."

When is Sunrise on the Reaping coming out?

Lionsgate

Sunrise on the Reaping will hit stores on March 18, 2025.

What is the Sunrise on the Reaping going to be about?

Scholastic/Instagram

The new Hunger Games book is called Sunrise on the Reaping. According to the official announcement, the story will take place 24 years before The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the 50th Games' reaping. While fans had hoped the story would chronicle Haymitch's victory, it wasn't confirmed until October 16. Read the full synopsis below:

"As the day dawns on the 50th annual Hunger Games, fear grips the districts of Panem. This year, in honor of the Quarter Quell, twice as many tributes will be taken from their homes. Back in District 12, Haymitch Abernathy is trying not to think too hard about his chances. All he cares about is making it through the day and being with the girl he loves. When Haymitch’s name is called, he can feel all his dreams break. He’s torn from his family and his love, shuttled to the Capitol with the three other District 12 tributes: a young friend who’s nearly a sister to him, a compulsive oddsmaker, and the most stuck-up girl in town. As the Games begin, Haymitch understands he’s been set up to fail. But there’s something in him that wants to fight ... and have that fight reverberate far beyond the deadly arena."

What happened in Haymitch's Hunger Games?

Lionsgate

As a Quarter Quell, the 50th Hunger Games had a twist. Just like the 75th Hunger Games pulled the tributes from the existing victors, the 50th required double the tributes, meaning Haymitch (who was 16 years old at the time) was one of 48 tributes, not 24.

The arena was a breathtaking landscape with a forest, snow-capped mountains, and beautiful flowers. But Haymitch quickly realized the beauty was a trap, and that everything in the arena was poisonous. He was able to outsmart the rest of the competitors, but after he used the forcefield against the other remaining tribute to secure his victory (a move that offended the Capitol), President Snow retaliated by killing his family and his girlfriend.

Is Sunrise on the Reaping about Haymitch?

Murray Close/Lionsgate

Yes, Sunrise on the Reaping is about Haymitch Abernathy and his win during the 50th Hunger Games.

Netflix has some truly incredible movies and TV shows right now (and considering Stranger Things 5 is coming later this year, it's only going to get better). But the end of another month means a whole new slew of titles leaving the streamer, which means this is your last week to watch these amazing series before they find another home.

Here are 8 titles leaving Netflix in March 2025, meaning this is your last week to watch them!

1.The Mindy Project — Leaving Netflix March 1, 2025

Fox

This FOX comedy follows Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling), an OBGYN who's doing her best to figure out a work life balance. There's romance, there's comedy, there's chaos. I wouldn't expect anything else from Mindy! And I love that the character was inspired by her own mom.

The Mindy Project stars Mindy Kaling, Chris Messina, Ed Weeks, Anna Camp, Zoe Jarman, Amanda Setton, Stephen Tobolowsky, Ike Barinholtz, Beth Grant, Xosha Roquemore, Adam Pally, Garret Dillahunt, Fortune Feimster, and Rebecca Rittenhouse.

2. Inception — Leaving Netflix March 1, 2025

Warner Bros. Pictures

If you want to go on a mind-bending adventure, then opt for this Christopher Nolan sci-fi heist. The movie follows a thief who uses technology to invade people's dreams and take information...if disaster doesn't derail him first.

Inception stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Elliot Page, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger, Dileep Rao, and Michael Caine.

3. Sixteen Candles — Leaving Netflix March 1, 2025

Universal Pictures

In this John Hughes movie, everyone's forgotten Samantha's sixteenth birthday...and that's not the kind of surprise she was hoping for. This movie is an 80s icon, but unfortunately there is plenty that hasn't aged well.

Sixteen Candles stars Molly Ringwald, Michael Schoeffling, and Anthony Michael Hall.

4. Scooby-Doo — Leaving Netflix March 1, 2025

Warner Bros. Pictures

Set out on an adventure with Shaggy, Scooby, Daphne, Velma, and Fred when a string of mysterious events bring them all to an island resort. But no, this isn't my idea of a vacation.

Scooby-Doo stars Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, Linda Cardellini and Rowan Atkinson.

5. Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed — Leaving Netflix March 1, 2025

Warner Bros. Pictures

And once you finish the first installment, hop over to the sequel, which finds Mystery Inc. protecting Coolsville from a masked someone using all the monsters they've already defeated.

Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed stars Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, Linda Cardellini and Rowan Atkinson.

6. Aloha — Leaving Netflix March 1, 2025

Sony Pictures Releasing

This movie follows a military contractor torn between a past love and an unexpected new connection. I don't know much about this movie, except for the fact it's been endlessly roasted for casting Emma Stone in a role that's supposed to be part native Hawaiian. Yikes.

Aloha stars Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Bill Murray, John Krasinski, Danny McBride, and Alec Baldwin.

7. Over The Hedge — Leaving Netflix March 1, 2025

Paramount Pictures

Revisit your childhood by streaming Over The Hedge, which is about RJ the raccoon, who gets a group of woodland creatures to steal food from the neighborhood to pay back a debt. They don't make movies like this anymore!

Over The Hedge stars Bruce Willis, Garry Shandling, Steve Carell, William Shatner, Wanda Sykes and Nick Nolte.

8. Love Again — Leaving Netflix March 2, 2025

Sony Pictures Releasing

Mira is still healing from the death of her fiancé when she realizes his old phone number has been reassigned...and she starts to form a connection with the person on the other end. Oh, Celine Dion is there too. Watch our interview with the cast!

Love Again stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Sam Heughan, and Celine Dion.

Don't worry TV fans! Here are The Best New TV Shows That Dropped On Netflix In February.

No matter what kind of furry friend you choose to welcome into your family, everyone knows that the puppy phase is tough. But aside from the typical teething and potty training problems, some breeds are more demanding than they seem.

From high energy levels to complex training needs, these canines may not be the best fit for first-time dog owners or those seeking a lower-commitment pet. If you fall in either boat, steer clear of these 10 difficult dog breeds that are more work than you might think.

Scroll to find out some of the more difficult dog breeds that require a little extra work (& a lot of commitment!)

1. Border Collie

Lauma Augstkalne

With a history of livestock herding, Border Collies are revered for their remarkable intelligence and high energy levels. They thrive when given a task to focus on, but without a way to express their natural herding instincts, they may act out and try to outsmart their owners.

Plus, they become easily stressed when they're not provided with enough mental stimulation and physical activity.

2. Saint Bernard

Patrick Barrett Jr.

Saint Bernards may look like big teddy bears, but they can also be quite stubborn. Yes, these dogs generally have sweet personalities, yet without early socialization and consistent training, these gentle giants may develop some behavioral issues.

Keeping this breed in check is harder due to their huge size. That's why any unwanted habits, like jumping up on counters or people, can spiral out of control.

Not to mention, Saint Bernards are notorious for being messy due to their excessive drooling.

3. Siberian Husky

Kateryna Babaieva

If you looked up "high-maintenance dog" in the dictionary, you might be greeted with a picture of the Siberian Husky.

This breed is independent, extremely energetic, and requires tons of exercise and mental stimulation to remain happy. Siberian Huskies also have strong-willed personalities that may make them prone to ignoring commands and doing things their way, particularly when it comes to escaping.

These escape artists are notorious for running out the door whenever they're given the chance.

4. Jack Russell Terrier

Gundula Vogel

Jack Russells have spirited personalities and seemingly boundless energy, earning them the reputation of being "hyper."

These pups have a strong prey drive as well, meaning they're prone to behaviors such as barking and digging. These tendencies can be especially challenging for first-time dog owners to handle.

Plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, and socialization are needed to keep this breed in line.

5. Australian Cattle Dog

Yo Ormedi

Much like the Siberian Husky, Australian Cattle Dogs excel when they're physically and mentally engaged. These herding dogs are often clever enough to outsmart their owners and quickly become bored, leading them to resort to mischief.

Anyone who opts to adopt an Australian Cattle Dog must provide their pup with a lot of training and a job to do, whether it's herding, agility, or another activity.

6. Rottweiler

Katia Miasoed

Rottweilers are known for their protective and territorial instincts, and if they aren't properly trained, this breed may become aggressive.

These dogs are strong-willed, large in size, and may try to assert dominance if they sense a lack of authority. Early socialization, routine training, and assertiveness are crucial for raising a Rottweiler that's well-behaved.

7. Akita

Zen Chung

Akitas have a significant prey drive since they were bred to hunt large game, and they can exhibit aggression or behavioral issues if they're not socialized and trained properly.

This breed also tends to be protective and aloof with strangers, so it may not always get along with other canines. These dogs thrive with more experienced owners who can establish clear boundaries and provide firm training.

8. Bloodhound

Bryan Bedder/Getty Images for Westminster Kennel Club

Bloodhounds are renowned for their remarkable sense of smell, making them stellar hunting dogs and helpers for law enforcement officers trying to track down missing persons and fugitives.

However, this breed can be self-reliant and stubborn, which makes training more challenging. Bloodhounds can become easily distracted by scents, so traditional training techniques tend to be less effective.

9. Dachshund

Masood Aslami

Dachshunds may look tiny and harmless, but these comically long dogs also have an independent spirit (and can sometimes be stubborn).

They have a knack for being mischievous and surprising digging abilities, meaning they'll tunnel under fences or anything else that stands in their way. Consistent training is key to curbing their more curious and disruptive tendencies.

10. Dalmatian

ko tek

Last but certainly not least are Dalmatians. These dogs have loads of energy, a strong-willed nature, and crave companionship, so they need both attention and exercise to remain happy.

Otherwise, this breed can be quite chaotic. Dalmatians are well-suited for more active owners who can keep up with their lively personalities.
