Your Desk Needs These Square Rubber Bands STAT

Apparently, there’s no good reason for ubber bands to be round. This news is a little life changing, so take a moment to digest. Y’good? Okay. The Japanese designers at Nendo have developed a working cubic rubber band. They recently developed a series of reimagined stationary goods that includes inventive paper clips, rulers and notebooks, but the rubber bands are bonkers.

With these Nendo rubber bands, you might not even want to hide them in your desk drawer. And you’d definitely think twice before tossing one in the trash — a set of three retails at about $10.

Try two complementary wallpapers, like a floral and a graphic, for an eclectic look.

Wallpaper Tips:

  • Work with a buddy: Hanging wallpaper on a ceiling can be tricky, so having an extra set of hands can make it much easier.
  • Use a temporary support: For longer strips, you might need to support the wallpaper temporarily with painter's tape until it's actually secured.
  • Consider your lighting situation: When choosing wallpaper, keep in mind how ceiling lighting will affect the wallpaper color and pattern. Make sure to test a swatch by taping it to the ceiling and observing the day and night light.

Painting Tips

  • Paint in natural light: If possible, paint during the day when natural light is brightest. This helps you catch any missed spots or uneven coverage more easily.
  • Start with the edges: Use a brush to “cut in” around the edges of the ceiling, creating a border. This makes it easier to roll paint up to the edges without bumping into walls or light fixtures.
  • Use a pole extension: An extension pole gives you better control, minimizes neck strain, and helps you achieve an even coat.
  • Roll in one direction, then cross-roll: Apply the first coat by rolling in one direction, usually parallel to the longest wall. Then, cross-roll by going perpendicular to the first direction to avoid streaks.
  • Let each coat dry. This is the kind of project you don't want to rush, so let your layers dry before applying another coat. The paint can should say drying times for the best finish!

Mouldings + Wood

Anthropologie

Anthropologie Delphine Rattan Chandelier

If your ceiling needs a little love, add a ceiling ring and a statement chandelier and you have a refreshing new look. Medallions are also surprisingly affordable for an elegant look.

Wayfair

Wood Ceiling Beams

Wood beams create a rustic look and give cozy cabin vibes!

We've been known to geek out on how your MBTI personality type affects your dreams, stress levels, friendships, and love life. But it can also impact how you work in more ways than one. Knowing your type can help you learn more about yourself and how you work best with others, and ultimately help you achieve your career or entrepreneurial goals. With the help of the career coaching team at FlexJobs, we're exploring how your MBTI results can help you design a better and more productive office space no matter if you're remote, hybrid, or in full-time office mode. Get ready to change the way you work for the better.

ISTJ ("The Logistician")

Jessica Arends

Orderly and dutiful, ISTJs thrive in a traditional workspace and do best when they progress slowly up the ladder, achieving their goals in good time and measure. These dedicated thinkers bring a certain harmony to their workplaces, since their chief goal is to create a smooth, stable operation.

For ISTJs, a highly structured office is best. They thrive when there's a place for everything, and the furniture is sturdy and reliable. However, these slow-and-steady workers may benefit from unexpected details, so don't be afraid to wear that kooky sweater or take on a project you're not so sure about.

INFJ ("The Advocate")

Beazy

INFJs are a unique blend of emotion and concrete action. As seekers of harmony and justice, INFJs likely have many fans around the office (meaning tons of visitors who may not be welcome when you need to recharge).

Give yourself the ability to shut the world out by installing a cubicle privacy door in your space, setting your remote communication tools off, or by asking team members to schedule meetings ahead of time. When you set up your workspace, feel free to scrap the traditional desk/chair/filing cabinet arrangement for something that better suits your unique preferences. Don't worry — with your intuition and innate sense of balance, you're bound to find the right setup!

INTJ ("The Mastermind")

Collov Home Design

You could just as easily nickname this type the "bookworm," since INTJs have an ingrained thirst for knowledge and highly cerebral pursuits. If you fall into this personality type, you'd do well to curate a library of professional reading that tickles your intellectual curiosity. Keep these books in your office where you can access them in one of your many retreats from the rest of the team.

In terms of decor, opt for flexible furniture, such as a convertible standing desk that will suit your need for freedom in your workspace. Choose colors that are soothing, with geometric patterns that work with your highly strategic mindset. And make sure that everything stays orderly — there's nothing an INTJ hates more than a chaotic desk!

ISFJ ("The Nurturer")

Collov Home Design

ISFJs are natural helpers, but they have a tendency to underestimate their own contribution to office culture. Therefore, they might benefit from displaying evidence of their achievements on their office walls — perhaps hanging an award or the race bib from a completed marathon.

Take time selecting your furniture when you set up your workspace, since you tend to perform best when everything feels welcoming and nothing is overlooked. And remember to book some time for learning when you start a new project. Nurturers like to approach new tasks with a hands-on attitude, so you'll need some room in your schedule to really dig into the details.

ISTP ("The Virtuoso")

Annie Spratt

Decorating for you means finding the perfect balance between order and quirkiness. With your out-of-the-box approach to life, you thrive in spaces that both allow you to express your unique blend of boldness and freedom and provide an enclosed retreat for private tinkering. Look for unusual, stimulating colors, like peaches and mint greens, but keep the furniture sleek with a slim profile that doesn't intrude on your thinking. And make sure to add some tactile desk toys — it will give you something to fiddle with while you wait for the perfect solution to drop out of the sky!

ISFP ("The Artist")

Ella Jardim

If you're an ISFP and you're reading this, you've probably already put a lot of thought into your office's setup. As sensual, visual people, ISFPs thrive on aesthetics — but that can also make them a little overly sensitive to what's going on around them. ISFPs should therefore strive to separate themselves from busy atmospheres, choosing instead spots near a window, where they can be drawn in by the natural ambience.

No windows in your office? Choose some soothing furniture, like a desk in blonde wood, and top it with plants or a small tranquil waterfall. Anything beautiful and peaceful is your milieu.

INFP (A.K.A. the "Idealist")

Lucija Ros

Dreamy and emotive, INFPs seek harmony and fairness in the workplace. This type needs a soothing, calming space to retreat, where they can recharge and reflect on their next move. If you can, choose an office space that's set away from the hustle and bustle of the main room. INFPs may have trouble becoming inspired by traditional office decor with its focus on function. Instead, you should try to integrate your personal passions into your office, choosing pieces that are fair trade, for instance, or that weave in natural elements.

INTP (A.K.A. the "Architect")

Kinga Cichewicz

INTPs adore playing with ideas and exploring — no wonder some of the world's renowned scientists fall into this personality type. These are the folks who are so creative and logical they can come up with the theory of relativity (Einstein is one of their more celebrated members), but will often abandon their coffee mid-sip in the throes of a new theory. A well-ordered space, with highly efficient shelving and organization systems, will suit this type well. But make sure to include a miscellaneous file — and a nook for doing more unordered thinking — for when the creative bug sets in.

ESTP (A.K.A. the "Entrepreneur")

Andrea Davis

ESTPs are having quite a moment these days. These rule-breakers love to think outside the box and are the kind you'd see chatting about "disruption" and "failing forward." Therefore, they need an energetic workspace that captures the boldness and risk-taking that inspires them.

Charged colors, like electric blue or bright orange, with unexpected accents — a curved desk, for instance, or an unusual piece of artwork — will keep this type running on all four cylinders. Just don't go for anything too fussy. With your preference for rapid change, you'll likely be reorganizing often.

ESFP (A.K.A. the "Performer")

Beazy

Expressive and vocal about your opinions, you probably take no issue redecorating your office as you see fit. But as a caring, compassionate person, you love to reach out to friends around your workplace too, so don't be afraid to ask them for their advice! Seriousness is for the other personality types to worry about, so go ahead, grab that fabulous bulletin board and that dramatic desk chair. Just make sure you don't get too caught up in decorating—after all, you still have actual work to do!

ENFP (A.K.A. the "Campaigner")

Kris Gerhard

Blessed with natural charisma and an energetic spark, ENFPs are passionate about their ideas and bring the fun at the office happy hour. In their workspaces, they need decor that will refill their nearly never-ending cup of joy. But they could probably also do with some simplifying as well, since these types hate routine tasks and view organization as a form of drudgery. Keep your filing system as simple as possible to avoid the blahs and allow you to focus on what you care about: new ideas.

ENTP (A.K.A. the "Visionary")

Slava Keyzman

As "big picture" thinkers, ENTPs tend to overlook the finer details, such as organization. For these idea-oriented types, challenges are motivating, so if you can view the cleaning as a problem that needs to be solved, you'll likely have much better results. Use unconventional solutions — an unusual, eye-catching shelf, or a standing desk with rolling walls — or just give yourself the freedom to work in a new coffee shop or restaurant, if that's an option. Just keep it flexible, and remember: everything is reversible!

ESTJ (A.K.A. the "Executive")

James McDonald

As you might guess by their moniker, ESTJs thrive on order and tend to follow the rules. They're also hard-working and moral, so they don't like to be weighed down by trivial details. Therefore, if you fall into this category, you'll do best with clean, unfettered decor that doesn't really push the envelope.

Think "oval office" and get inspired by the mixture of traditional luxury and executive prowess. And make sure to add an extra seat for visitors. With your reputation for leadership and community organization, you're sure to have more than a few office drop-ins!

ESFJ (A.K.A. the "Caregiver")

Dawid Liberadzki

You know that one chatty coworker who's always game for a quick conversation? If you're an ESFJ, it's probably you! You love working with people and view meetings as more than just work — they're a chance to entertain, too.

Give yourself enough room to invite people in when the mood strikes, while still maintaining the order and organization in your space. Go for practical, utilitarian pieces, like a rolling white board, that can help you lead a group meeting and keep your thoughts together.

ENFJ (A.K.A. the "Giver")

Nirzar Pangarkar

Generous and collaborative, an ENFJ is the very definition of a "people person." Therefore, they prefer spaces that are hospitable, inviting, and comfortable, and thrive in spaces that are energetic and novel (think "startup with bean bag chairs and wall murals.").

Choose pieces that are punchy and will start a conversation, but still maintain a sense of order in your space. Whatever you do, make sure there's plenty of room for collaboration. In fact, you may even want to share your office, if that's a possibility. ENFJs are one of those rare types who actually enjoy open plan offices, since they allow them to easily do their work in teams. If you work from home, try out coworking spaces and coffee shops.

ENTJ (A.K.A. the "Commander")

Gabriel Beaudry

You like to brag that you've never been bested by a car salesman, and that's because you enjoy the challenge of negotiating. With your commanding presence and dominating personality, you need decor that's just as domineering — and maybe even just the slightest bit intimidating. Pick out the biggest desk you can get and a plush leather chair to capture that ambience of control.

But don't forget to allow your sensitive side out once and awhile, too. A few gentle touches, like a photo of your dog displayed on one of your shelves, will go a long way to humanize you to your fellow teammates.

I can totally understand falling for a costar. One scene gazing into each other's eyes, and (as the kids say), I'd be asking, "What are we?" Zendaya & Tom Holland and Ashley Park & Paul Forman both met on the sets of their most famous projects (Spider-Man and Emily in Paris, in case you were wondering), and this year's biggest movie event also features a brand new celebrity couple: Ariana Grande & Ethan Slater.

The co-stars made headlines when they ended their respective marriages and started dating each other, and Ethan Slater finally spoke out on the response to their relationship. Here's what he had to say, and the latest news on this couple.

  • Ariana Grande & Ethan Slater met on the set of Wicked, in theaters November 22.
  • The couple made headlines when they started dating the same month they separated from their respective spouses.
  • In a recent interview, Ethan Slater reveals the reaction to their relationship was "really hard."

News of Ariana's split from her then-husband Dalton Gomez broke on July 17, while TMZ also reported Ethan filed for divorce from his wife at the time, Lilly Jay, on July 26. (Ariana and Dalton ended up filing for divorce in September).

After People reported Ariana and Ethan were now in a relationship of their own, Lilly told Page Six that “[Ariana’s] the story, really. Not a girl’s girl. My family is just collateral damage.” However, other sources claim Lilly and Ethan had been separated for a couple months before his relationship with Ariana started.

August 2, 2023 — Ethan Slater & Ariana Grande Are Moving Fast

Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater reportedly fell head over heels so quickly, their friends were telling them to pump the breaks. “Ariana’s been told it’s too soon to go public with him and to take things slower,” said an Us Weekly insider at the time. “She’s very aware of how she’s perceived by her fans, and she’s trying to be mature. [But] if it were up to her, she’d be seen with him tomorrow.”

September 4, 2023 — Ariana Grande & Ethan Slater Are Learning How To Balance Their Relationship

Sources told People at the beginning of September that the costars and couple are trying to figure out how to balance their relationship with their celebrity.

“While this entire situation has been blown out of proportion, it’s much different than what has been portrayed in public,” a friend of the couple says. “They are just trying to navigate their new relationship in private."

“I’ve never felt more at the mercy of and in acceptance of what life was screaming to teach me,” Ariana Grande said in an Instagram story. “I have never felt more pride or joy or love while simultaneously feeling so deeply misunderstood by people who don’t know me, who piece whispers together and make what they want out of me and their assumptions of my life.”

January 12, 2024 — Ariana Grande Releases "Yes, And?"

September 30, 2024 — Ariana Grande Defends Ethan Slater

In a Vanity Fair cover story, Ariana opened up about the reaction to her relationship with Ethan Slater, revealing that “the most disappointing part was to see so many people believe the worst version of [the story]."

“There couldn’t be a less accurate depiction of a human being than the one that the tabloids spread about him,” she says. “No one on this earth tries harder or spreads themselves thinner to be there for the people that he loves and cares about. There is no one on this earth with a better heart...I’m 31 years old and I’m not a perfect person, but I am definitely deeply good, and I’m proud of who I’m becoming. I will never let disreputable evil tabloids ruin my life or my perception of what is real and good.”

October 30, 2024 — Ethan Slater Finally Speaks Out About His Relationship With Ariana Grande

Almost two years after meeting Ariana Grande, Ethan Slater finally opened up about their relationship in a new interview with GQ. “Obviously, it was a really super big year and I think there was something that was really difficult about things in your private life being commented on and looked at by the public," he says. "There were a lot of big changes in private lives that were really happening, so it’s really hard to see people who don’t know anything about what’s happening commenting on it and speculating, and then getting things wrong about the people you love. So just to address that part of it, that feels really hard."

But the clouds also came with silver linings. “Of course, it was an amazing year and a really beautiful thing, and I’m just really excited," he continues. "I’m just really, really proud of Ari and the work she’s done on this. She’s poured herself into it. I’m really proud that I got to be there for that part of it, and I’m really excited to be there for this next step of it when the world gets to see the amazing thing that she did.”

These two took their relationship to the next level in the modern dating age — they put it on the grid. Well, not exactly. In Instagram posts celebrating the Australian premiere of Wicked, Ariana and Ethan both shared a picture of themselves. Is it blurry? Sure. Are their faces in it? No. But does this still count as an Instagram hard launch? Absolutely.

There’s a reason we collectively love Thanksgiving episodes of our favorites series, and Friends fans have much to be thankful for when it comes to Turkey Day. Monica, Ross, Joey, Chandler, Rachel and Phoebe were a helluva group to watch gather around the table. From Phoebe’s vegetarian Thanksgiving requests to Chandler’s refusal to eat turkey to Monica’s gourmet standards, there were plenty of LOLs to be had around the apartment come Thanksgiving. And as fans of the show know, there were some interesting side dish choices too. If you wanna cook like one of the gang, here are replicas of some of the Turkey Day dishes they served at their annual Friendsgiving celebration.

The Best Recipes From The Friends Thanksgiving Episodes

Brit + Co

Sweet Donut Grilled Cheese Recipe

After Monica and Rachel get locked out of their apartment (while the turkey is in the oven. Classic.), the gang has to swap good old Thanksgiving food for grilled cheese. Take this childhood fave to the next level by indulging in brie & donut deliciousness. Don't forget the chocolate and strawberries! (via Brit + Co)

Feast of Starlight

Sweet Potato Stuffed Pumpkins

Who could forget the episode where Rachel invites her co-worker Tag over for Thanksgiving dinner? Monica goes all-out making an extra sweet potato-stuffed pumpkin for him. You can go just as fancy with this creation inspired specifically by the show. (via Feast of Starlight)

Half-Baked Harvest

Fall Harvest Cider Roasted Chicken With Walnut Goat Cheese and Grapes

Chandler’s refusal to eat turkey on Thanksgiving made having some chicken on hand imperative. If any of your group doesn’t like turkey, this delectable roasted chicken should be a great substitute. You’re going to roast the grapes along with the chicken, giving it an amazingly sweet and fall-like flavor. (via Half-Baked Harvest)

Natasha's Kitchen

Mixed Berry Angel Food Trifle

Remember the one where Rachel decided to make a traditional English trifle for Thanksgiving… and it was a huge mess due to a recipe mix-up? This one isn’t quite as “traditional” as Rachel’s (thank goodness, because Ross said it tasted like feet), but it’s close enough. And, thanks to the angel food cake and cornucopia of delicious berries, it’s also completely delish, so you won’t mess it up the way she did. (via Natasha’s Kitchen)

The Healthy Foodie

Oven Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Acorn Squash

In “The One With the Late Thanksgiving,” despite all the confusion over whether or not Thanksgiving will take place at all and WHAT TIME everyone should show up (seriously, Rachel, Phoebe, Ross, and Joey!), we spot some Brussels sprouts on the Thanksgiving table. We think Monica would totally approve of this rendition, which also features acorn squash, dates, and walnuts. (via The Healthy Foodie)

Damn Delicious

Homemade Tater Tots

If you don’t know why we’ve included tater tots on our list, you need to go back and re-watch season one. Joey insists on having some tater tots, and we bet Monica would prefer to serve them homemade style. (via Damn Delicious)

The Suburban Soapbox

Citrus and Herb Butter Roasted Turkey

Of course, the friends didn’t just enjoy random novelty items. In most of the Friends Thanksgiving episodes, they also had a big, juicy turkey on the table. This super yummy recipe brings out the flavors of your bird with citrus and rich herb butter (we’re talking sage, rosemary, and thyme). (via The Suburban Soapbox)

A Spicy Perspective

Best Mashed Potatoes

What would a proper Friendsgiving be without mashed potatoes?! Pretty much just another dinner, if you ask us. Pro tip: Make sure to bring any add-ins (such as cream cheese, butter, cheese, etc.) to room temperature before adding them in. (via A Spicy Perspective)

Sugar Free Mom

Low Sugar Low Carb Chocolate Pecan Pie

In “The One With The List,” Monica is determined to make mockolate work. While mockolate (that’s mock chocolate) may not be a real thing, you can in fact sub out traditional ingredients for low-sugar alternatives. Case in point: this low-sugar, low-carb chocolate creation. (via Sugar Free Mom)

Lauren’s Latest

Super Speedy Double Chocolate Pie

Chocolate pie was supposed to grace the friends’ Thanksgiving table in season 10, but Phoebe and Rachel forget to pick it up. You can whip it up for your own Thanksgiving celebration in a matter of seconds. Almost literally… the base is made from instant pudding. (via Lauren’s Latest)

Pink Owl Kitchen

Southern Candied Yams

Yams are featured in almost every Friends Thanksgiving episode, and we think Monica would totally approve of this super yummy and seasonally fresh dish. Hearty yams are topped with a nut crumble and baked in the oven. Start with canned yams if you want to speed up the cooking process. (via Pink Owl Kitchen)

Vodka and Biscuits

Roasted Turkey Legs

You may have missed the food in “The One With the Football,” but Monica serves up turkey legs at season three’s Thanksgiving feast. You’ll be brining these bad boys for a good six to eight hours before cooking them for almost two. They’re insanely delicious and totally worth the wait. (via Vodka and Biscuits)

Audrey’s Apron

Apple Pie

Let’s be real — everyone loves apple pie, even the notoriously picky friends. This classic American dessert is a must-have in our book, and Monica has served it in a number of Friends Thanksgiving episodes. (via Audrey’s Apron)

BONUS: Monica’s Leftover Thanksgiving Sandwich
