Cubify Launches 3D Printed Photo iPhone Cases

Let’s face it. 3D printing is SO hot right now. From the first 3D printing photo booth to MakerBot Replicators showing up at just about every tech event, innovators, DIYers, and Weird Science fanatics are getting seriously pumped about the world of 3D.

And now, photos and iPhone cases are getting involved.

Cubify

FreshFiber Sculpture Case, described as a way to turn your phone into a tribute to the things you love. Upload any photo, zoom, rotate, and enhance, and get it printed as an iPhone case!

Each case’ll set you back about $40, which is pretty incredible considering it is truly one-of-a-kind. Definitely a solid Christmas gift option! (Cases ship within 2 weeks.)

Here’s how designing your own case works.

First you choose your phone type (more smartphone options coming soon!).

Select red, purple or black. And now it’s time to upload your photo!

We chose one of Brit and her adorable puppy Pixel overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge.

Zoom and rotate as you see fit to make your photo work on the case.

Lastly, choose your style of printing.

Emboss (left) is definitely the most detailed and is great for photographers of nature, landscapes, etc. Lines (center) turns your photo into a line drawing so is a good option for people. Shades (right) transforms your photo into graffiti-esque art, calling on lights and darks.

And if you’re not in the market for a new iPhone case, Cubify also lets you turn your favorite photos into 3D printed art. Not to mention the ability to send your designs to Cubify’s army of 3D printers so you can create all sorts of good stuff!

Stay tuned for more goodness with Cubify in the coming weeks… maybe even a custom Brit + Co. object or two?! :)

We’re all equipped to handle change differently. Some people go boldly into the future, accepting change without problem. Others are a litttttlllle bit more hesitant, preferring to dip their toes in instead. Case in point? Users (and would-be users) of the iPhone 7. While some are purchasing Apple’s latest with wild abandon, others are holding back, skeptical of that whole “no headphone jack” thing. For the doubters among you, hear this: There may soon be a solution in the form of a case for your phone that will replace the headphone jack.

Manufactured by Fuze, the conceptual case aims to give the people back their beloved 3.5mm port. It looks just like any other case, but hidden inside is a converter that will allow you to use your regular headphones without having to worry about a dongle or adapter. It also eliminates that whole “what do I do if I want to charge my phone and listen with my headphones at the same time” problem, as it comes with a massive battery that can double your phone’s current life ― double Score!

The case is selling now on Indiegogo for $59 as an early bird special, with the first batch targeted to ship in December should they reach their funding goal. It will come in five colors: white, black, gold, rose gold and blue.

Check out the product’s cheeky video below and prepare yourself to accept the latest wave of the future!

Materials + Tools:
— plain phone case

— acrylic paint

— paint brushes

— clear varnish

Instructions:
1. Create a brushstroke pattern with multiple colors, then let it dry.

2. Add small dots in a darker paint color and let it dry again.

3. Add a coat of clear varnish and let dry. You’re done!

Because we top the case off with varnish, you could use other types of paint instead of acrylic. Just be sure to test the paint on the phone case — some plastic finishes take paint better than others.

Create a brushstroke pattern with multiple colors, then let it dry.

Add small dots in a darker paint color and let it dry again.

Add a coat of clear varnish and wait until it fully dries before using your phone.

And PRESTO, you’ve just gussied up your phone case in minutes! Give yourself a pat on the back.

Cute phone case, iced coffee and a donut: Can’t think of a better AM commute combo :) Cheers!

The Life Cycle of the Common Octopus by Emma Knight

Penn should be excited about advancing her education at the University of Edinburgh, but she can't stop thinking about the secret her parents have been keeping from her. For some reason, she believes she'll uncover it while she's in Scotland because Lord Lennox — her father's friend — is in the area.

Her hunger for the truth leads her to Lord Lennox's estate where she she starts mingling with his family and even discovers love in this moving novel.
