Owning a home can be an endless labor of love — you never quite finish sprucing it up, redecorating, adding upgrades and finishing touches, until it's time to sell. But as you venture on your next home decor project, you might consider how it will impact your resale value, even if you *don't* plan on selling for years to come.

We turned to the home experts at Opendoor, a digital real estate platform that makes the home buying/selling process way easier, to figure out the best ways to upgrade our homes this year. Their new Designing a Dream Home: Opendoor’s 2022 Home Decor Report uncovers the top ways you can refresh your space in 2022 to maximize your curb appeal with minimal effort. Check out their pro advice below!

First Impressions

When it comes to decorating your home, try not to overlook the exterior. A welcoming vibe puts everyone in a cheery mood: you, your guests, and eventually buyers. Add native plants, seating if there's room, modern lighting, and a fresh coat of paint every few years.

"Opendoor's Decor report showed that U.S. homeowners are opting for natural, subdued colors — especially outdoors," says Yasmine El Sanyoura, home designer at Opendoor. White is always classic while gray and beige are gaining favor. The black house trend is also here to stay, says El Sanyoura, at least with Millennials and GenXers.

The Entrance

Design: Amanda Teal Design | Michelle Drewes Photography

Given that neutral colors are popular exterior colors, El Sanyoura notes that your front door is your place to shine. Go for a pop of color or stained wood for a more organic feel. "This is a great way to bring warmth and texture to your home’s exterior while adding curb appeal," she adds.

Interior Wellness

Design: Lori Henle Interiors | Michelle Drewes Photography

As we head inside, the Opendoor Decor Report found a love for matching furniture (77 percent of the 800 people surveyed were big fans). "The pandemic accelerated consumers’ need for expression through design and decor, and while some have opted for maximalist interiors, the rise in matching furniture sets signals a desire for uniformity," says El Sanyoura.

Symmetry always looks clean and Zen while making the whole decorating experience easier. "This type of convenience adds a sense of calm, which speaks to the larger trend of 'interior wellness' that we’re seeing," says El Sanyoura. New sofas = the new self care? We love it.

Pro tip: You can coordinate your furniture by choosing materials that have different textures and colors, but fit within the same style (boho, modern, rustic...). You can also mix styles for a more collected look, while keeping finishes consistent.

The Accent Wall

Design: PepperJack Interiors | Michelle Drewes Photography

"Accent walls are a great way to incorporate color into your home and show off your personality," says El Sanyoura. In fact, potential buyers love a brightly colored accent wall, according to Opendoor's survey, way more than all white interiors (77 percent vs. 37 percent). So color lovers unite: Look to invest in a fun accent wall that speaks to you (if they love your home, they'll likely love your decor too). Choose paint (easiest to change up), wallpaper (although wall decals and peel-and-stick are off trend) or even tile.

Design: Sarah Stacey | Andrea Calo Photography

"I’m particularly excited about exploring accent walls in the bathroom, which is an oft-forgotten space for bold color and expression," says El Sanyoura. "If you’re ready to combine two trends, create an accent wall in your bathroom with brightly colored subway tile! In 2022, I recommend a bright teal or a sage green to enhance the space." We also love this bold Allora decorative tile used by Austin-based designer Sarah Stacey.

The Powerhouse

Design: Sarah Stacey | Molly Culver Photography

Kitchens are the central station of the home and if you love to cook your happy place. While a whole remodel is a big investment, there is a lot you can do to transform your kitchen without doing a major overhaul. New appliances, for instance, are an investment worth making for your own pleasure and for resale value. According to Opendoor, buyers are most turned off by an outdated kitchen and bath (carpet is also a big no-no).

Kitchen Trends: Wood Cabinets

Design: Aimee Griffin Interiors | Michelle Drewes Photography

When it comes to kitchen cabinet colors, more homeowners are coveting natural wood cabinets with as many as 40 percent preferring the stained look, followed by 33 percent loving white painted cabinets.

"Natural wood cabinets have been gaining back in popularity in the most beautiful way, and are versatile enough for kitchen designs ranging from farmhouse to mid-century modern to contemporary!" says El Sanyoura. "Not to mention wood cabinets can be more durable than painted cabinets, especially for families with young kids running around."

Pro tip: Wood cabinets don’t have to look old and chunky, they can be a beautiful and elegant way to bring in natural materials, warmth, and textured layers to your space. You can incorporate them in a few ways:

  • Go for a full-on wood look, with all cabinets stained.
  • Choose a two-tone look with painted uppers and wood base cabinets.
  • If you have an island in your kitchen, you can go with painted cabinets and a statement wood island.

Kitchen Trends: Subway Tile

Design: Etch and Ivy Design | Michelle Drewes Photography

One enduring kitchen and bath trend? Subway tile in all its many forms. "In 2022, we anticipate this trend to continue," says El Sanyoura. "Subway tiles are a beautiful, timeless, and super versatile design feature. Subway tile can either be a background character to let other statements shine, or be the star of the show with a slight change of orientation and/or grout color."

Pro tip: Want to get creative with your subway tile? Here are a few ways to change things up:

  • Go for an elongated subway tile (like 2x8 or 3x12) for a twist on the classic size.
  • Try stacking subway tile, going either horizontally to visually expand a wall, or vertically to create the illusion of higher ceilings.
  • Use subway tile to create an interesting pattern like a 45-degree herringbone, straight herringbone, or double basketweave pattern. These are also great ideas for tile accent walls!

Farmhouse Meets Midcentury

Design: Melinda Mandell | Michelle Drewes Photography

While using rattan and wicker furniture indoors are reportedly OUT, two design styles are holding on strong: Farmhouse and Mid-Century Modern. "Based on these findings, we can anticipate mid-century modern furniture and farmhouse decor to rise up in 2022 — even more so than they already have in recent years — to achieve sleek-meets-functional look with a slightly rustic feel." Something to think about when it comes to staging your home to sell too.

The Great Outdoors

Design: Anthem Design Group | Michelle Drewes Photography

Indoor-outdoor living continues to be a popular forever trend, especially as more of us choose to staycation at home. Outdoor space essentials include dining table and chairs (24%) and a fire pit (21%) as well as a freshly landscaped lawn (43%). Neatly trimmed plants and brush are also key for the ultimate in curb appeal.

Sustainability

Design: Melinda Mandell | Michelle Drewes Photography

More than 90 percent of those surveyed said they would choose at least one eco-friendly element for their home. Topping the list? Solar-powered lights as well as drought-resistant landscaping. Make your outdoor space feel more homey and appealing to potential buyers with fresh plants (check out our guide to decorating with plants), natural elements, and warm lighting to make the outdoors feel as cozy as the indoors, come spring.

Make It Your Own

Design: Etch and Ivy Design | Michelle Drewes Photography

The upgrades that reportedly make the biggest impact to potential buyers are interior painting and installing new floors. Consider them your clean slate for adding personal touches, such as getting creative with paint and adding style with furniture and decor that will travel with you. Lighting also makes a big impact in any room and unless you specify in contract stay with new owners.

It's all about making your house a home, your home, and a comfortable space for you, your family, and your friends. "At Opendoor, we want you to think of your home as a blank canvas for you to express yourself," adds El Sanyoura.

Happy new year and happy decorating!

Celebrity designer Francesca Grace is my latest design crush. Her vintage-eclectic aesthetic blends cottagecore charm with maximalist flair and a hint of European vintage glamour — and I swoon every time. Most recently, she staged a stunning four-bedroom, five-bathroom home in Palm Springs, drawing bold inspiration from the raw beauty of the desert landscape.

“My approach was to harmonize the home's contemporary architecture with eclectic, artful interiors," says Francesca. That she achieved, creating a space that feels both curated and soulful. With vibrant color, playful patterns, and richly textured materials, she infused the space with warmth and character and created a look that feels both timeless and refreshingly modern.

Here are 8 design ideas I'm loving from this Palm Springs home.

William Myers

Huge glass walls throughout the house blur the line between indoors and out, making the whole place feel super connected to nature. It’s a fresh take on desert living — grounded in its surroundings and full of personality.

1. Lean Into Cozy Seating

William Myers

It’s the kind of place that invites you to sink in, unwind, and soak up the desert calm. While Francesca paid homage to the spirit of Palm Springs, she intentionally steered away from the typical mid-century vibe, bringing something fresh and unexpected instead. “Drawing from my travels in France and Italy, I incorporated hues that evoke a sense of warmth and comfort, ensuring the interiors resonate with the desert landscape while maintaining a timeless appeal," says Francesca.

William Myers

The moment you step inside, it’s a stunning visual experience. Desert views are perfectly framed, while Francesca’s thoughtful use of color and sculptural furniture mirrors the rugged landscape and captures the magic of the desert light.

William Myers

Here’s a peek at those spectacular indoor-outdoor views that give the home a serene, spa-like feel — and turn every window into a work of art.

2. Use An Earthy Palette

William Myers

The color scheme was influenced by the natural surroundings of Palm Springs and Francesca's affinity for earthy, rich tones. And that velvet platform bed? The curved edges make it feel extra inviting—so much softer and cozier than sharp lines.

3. Maximize Views

William Myers

This dreamy bathroom is beyond beautiful thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows that invite the desert in and an elegant design. "Floor-to-ceiling windows were left unadorned or dressed with minimal treatments to frame the natural beauty without obstruction," says Francesca.

William Myers

Even the walk-in closet comes with a picture-perfect view of the desert — because why not?

4. Embrace Natural Stone

William Myers

A bold marble sink adds just the right amount of edge to this neutral bathroom, keeping the design layered, luxe, and anything but boring.

5. Blend Textures

William Myers

Francesca sourced a boulder from the surrounding land and transformed it into a custom coffee table, merging the connection between indoors and outdoors.

Texture is my love language," says Francesca. "It’s how I bring emotion into a space without shouting. For this home, I layered everything: marble, smooth leather, raw woods with polished stone, sheer linen next to rich velvet. The palette might be neutral, but the materials are doing all the talking. That contrast keeps the eye engaged and creates a sense of quiet luxury that doesn’t try too hard," she adds.

William Myers

That marble fireplace is also a work of art. The stunning desert landscape significantly influenced the layout and styling choices. “I positioned seating areas to maximize views of the outdoors, creating a seamless connection between the interior and exterior spaces.

William Myers

The kitchen acts as a breezy bridge between the entry and the back of the house, creating a clean, open space that balances all the surrounding coziness.

William Myers

Here’s the view from the dining area — and I’m obsessed with the textured pendant lights. They bring a soft, organic touch that beautifully balances the kitchen’s harder lines.

6. Mix In Vintage Pieces

William Myers

Francesca mixed in a few vintage finds and unexpected accents to keep things fresh and dynamic, but her LA shop Somme really set the tone. There’s something really special about designing pieces that already have a story and a soul behind them—and being able to place them in a home like this just adds another layer of intention. I wanted the furnishings to feel elevated but livable, with just the right amount of edge," says Francesca.

7. Go Bold With Art

William Myers

For this home, Francesca worked closely with Creative Art Partners (CAP) to curate the perfect art collection that she says "felt intentional, emotional, and deeply tied to the spirit of the space."

William Myers

“Our goal was to create a narrative through the art — each piece had to serve a purpose, whether it added a punch of color, an unexpected texture, or a provocative element that brought energy to a room. That said, because this is a staged home, we were thoughtful about how far we pushed certain pieces. There’s a fine line between bold and polarizing, so we curated selections that had impact without alienating potential buyers. CAP was an amazing partner in helping us strike that balance and tell a cohesive story throughout the home,” she said.

8. Balance A Cozy Minimalism

William Myers

Striking the right balance between cozy and clean called for thoughtful layering and intentional decor choices. It’s all about avoiding clutter without letting the space feel cold or sterile.

William Myers

"I focus on incorporating plush textiles, ambient lighting, and personal artifacts to add warmth, while maintaining an uncluttered environment by curating pieces that serve both functional and aesthetic purposes. This philosophy ensures the space feels inviting without visual overload," she says.

William Myers

Here's the dreamy home in the middle of the desert, stunning view inside and out.

Here's how the home is lit at dusk, simply beautiful.

The '90s called to let everyone know we're finally getting a sequel to Clueless, but we won't be reliving 97 minutes of nostalgia. Rather, a series is being developed right now and we've got all the details about it! I, for one, am ready to see Cher Horowitz and crew all grown up because the original movie's ending alluded to their bright futures.

Scroll to find out what to expect from the Clueless TV series, plus revisit the scene that made me fall in love with playing dress up!

Is there going to be a Clueless 2?

Yes! Variety announced Peacock is developing the Clueless sequel series yesterday. We can already hear Cher saying "Whatever" to someone who's doing something annoying.

Which cast members will be in Clueless 2?

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

As of now, Alicia Silverstone's return as Cher Horowitz is the only cast information that's been publicized (via Variety). We'd love to see Paul Rudd return as Josh and Stacey Dash as Dionne Davenport!

What is Clueless 2 about?

The plot's details are still TBA (to be announced), but Variety is convinced the Clueless sequel series will pick up after the events of the movie.

Who's producing and writing the script for Clueless 2?

Writers Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Jordan Weiss are hard at work on the Clueless script. Alicia Silverstone is also an executive producer alongside Amy Heckerling, writer and director of the OG film, and producer Robert Lawrence (via Variety).

Knowing the names who made the iconic film what it is makes me feel relieved the series will be the one fans of the cult classic deserve!

I was 100% convinced I'd be able to wear computer generated outfits which probably explains my love for the now defunct Polyvore. It was a collage sight that became home for those who loved creating virtual style mood boards and I like to think Cher Horowitz inspired it.

Are you excited about the Clueless TV series?

Let us know on Facebook!

Ryan Gosling has already stepped foot in Barbieland and proved his chops as an action star in The Fall Guy, and soon he's taking on outer space. (And no I'm not talking about a Blue Origin space flight). Ryan Gosling is joining the Star Wars universe! His new movie is being directed by Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy and it's going to be one heck of an intergalactic adventure.

Here's everything we know about Ryan Gosling's Star Wars: Starfighter, coming to theaters May 28, 2027.

Is Ryan Gosling going to be in Star Wars?

Yes, Ryan Gosling is going to lead a brand new Star Wars movie called Star Wars: Starfighter.

The movie was announced at the Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, and both Ryan and Shawn showed up IRL! The Fall Guy proved he has what it takes to maintain that cool-guy vibe (just like Han Solo honestly), and I hope Starfighter has the same urban sci-fi adventure I love to see in Star Wars.

Where can I watch Star Wars: Starfighter?

Star Wars: Starfighter is coming to theaters May 28, 2027.

The movie's coming just after Avengers: Secret Wars, but it's not the next time Marvel and Star Wars could duke it out in the box office. Avengers: Doomsday is coming to theaters May 1, 2026, ahead of The Mandalorian & Grogu, which premieres May 22, 2026. Yes. That's a lot of Pedro Pascal, thank goodness.

What is the Star Wars Starfighter movie?

Star Wars: Starfighter is a brand new Star Wars movie that's set apart from any of the trilogies we've seen so far (although it looks like it's part of a brand new trilogy!). The movie is a "standalone adventure taking place approximately five years after the events of 2019's Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker."

But even though the final movie ended on a peaceful note, Ryan Gosling's character is sure to be in for some kind of crazy adventure. "This is the perfect place to start this journey for us, because it's such an incredible reminder of why we're going to make this movie and who we're going to make this movie for," Ryan said at the Star Wars Celebration (via Entertainment Weekly). "[The] script is just so good. It has such a great story with great and original characters."

"This is a standalone. It's not a prequel, not a sequel. It's a new adventure," Shawn added. "It's set in a period of time that we haven’t seen explored yet."

When is Starfighter filming?

Filming for the movie is scheduled to begin the fall of 2025.

What is a Starfighter?

A starfighter in Star Wars is a small but armed starship used in battle.
