You Can Now Buy Reese Witherspoon’s Wild Boots

It’s officially winter and chances are you’re now in full hibernation mode. If you DO venture out it’ll probably be to the movies. And if you do go to the movies we’re guessing it might be to see Reese Witherspoon in her new film Wild – we’re going on a bit of a “if you give a mouse a cookie” kind of tangent here, but just roll with it.

The film, released December 5th, is a movie portrayal of the bestselling memoir by Cheryl Strayed about her solo trek across the Pacific Crest Trail. Not so surprisingly, a main icon of both the book and film are a pair of hiking boots – well, a pair of Danner’s Mountain Light Cascades boots to be exact. The leather shoes are featured on the cover of the book as well as in the opening scene of the film.

Rather than finding a pair that looked similar, Fox Searchlight approached Danner to make the exact model Strayed wore during her 1995 journey to be featured in the film. The Portland-based company obliged and also made Witherspoon more than 30 pairs of the discontinued style. But good news for you: You now don’t have to be best buddies with Elle Woods to snag a pair of these pretty kicks.

With Fox Searchlight’s help, Danner has released limited edition Mountain Light Cascades to be marketed with the movie’s release. You can find them on Danner’s site, as well as at REI and, of course, Urban Outfitters. While they do look great, they’re also legitimate hiking boots, so they’re not super cheap. These rugged, waterproof kicks come in at about $300 for a pair. So whether you’re actually going on an epic, adventurous trek or just trekking across the city in winter, these boots are ideal for both purposes.

If you’re into the look of these hiking boots, but not so into the price replicate the look by snagging one of these similar pairs and popping on some red laces:

Keep the authentic hiking boot feel with these pairs from Timberland ($120) and Doc Martens ($90). Get the same look without losing any of the quality.

Or, on the other hand, go full fashion on this thing and opt for a pair of heeled hiking boots ($65) or a slimmer, faux leather pair ($32). You definitely won’t be able to *actually* go hiking in either of these, but you sure will look good.

What’s your take on the hiking boot trend? Do you like seeing it on the streets or do you think these boots should be reserved for the trail? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry (April 22, 2025)

Reese's book club deserves a huge round of applause for choosing Emily Henry's Great Big Beautiful Life as its May pick! We've covered it so much on-site, plus we even chatted with the author herself last year and learned more about her creative process. Just like in her novel Happy Place, Henry brings her same magical energy to a new mysterious storyline.
Readers will get to know writers Alice Scott and Hayden Anderson as they compete for heiress Margaret Ives' approval. The stakes are high because only one of them will get the chance to write her biography, pitting Alice and Hayden on opposite sides of the playing field. But as sparks continue to fly between them and Margaret's omission of truths pile up, they'll discover there's more to the story than they initially thought.

Everybody raise your Kir Royale cocktails because Emily in Paris has been renewed for season 5! (And it looks like she might be trading some of her cocktails for espresso). The official Emily in Paris & Netflix Instagram accounts made the announcement on September 16 with a video of Lily Collins sipping some espresso on a rooftop.

"There's no place like Rome," Lily says with a wink. And, to be frank, we have to agree. I didn't think Emily in Parisseason 4 (or its fashion) could get any better after that Part 1 ending, but taking our favorite Parisians to Rome turned out to be a fantastic move — and not just because it introduced us to Marcello.

But sadly, we have to say au revoir to one of the most iconic Emily in Paris characters ahead of season 5. Keep reading for everything you need to know.

Keep reading for everything you need to know about Emily in Paris season 5 — including who is (and isn't) returning.

Who's in the Emily in Paris season 5 cast?

Netflix

A more fitting question might be "Who isn't in the Emily in Paris season 5 cast?" because Camille Razat won't be returning as Camille. "Characters can come in and out of a series, but you don’t necessarily have to see them," Darren Star told TVLine. "But again, [Camille's] part of the world of the series. I’m not sure how soon we’ll see her, but it doesn’t mean, again, that we won’t be seeing her."

But don't worry! We'll see all our other favorite cast members returning, including:

  • Lily Collins as Emily Cooper
  • Eugenio Franceschini as Marcello
  • Lucien Laviscount as Alfie
  • Lucas Bravo as Gabriel
  • Ashley Park as Mindy Chen
  • Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie
  • Samuel Arnold as Julien
  • Bruno Gouery as Luc
  • William Abadie as Antoine Lambert

When is Emily in Paris season 5 coming out?

Carole Behtuel/Netflix

We don't have an official Emily in Paris season 5 release date yet, but Deadline confirms the show begins production in May and will release on Netflix in 2025!

What is Emily in Paris season 5 about?

Giulia Parmigiani/Netflix

The Emily in Paris season 4 finale changed everything when Emily decided to stay in Rome and head up an Italian office for Agence Grateau. But, don't worry French fans. Darren Star promises we'll see her in the City of Love again, telling The Wrap, "definitely we’re not leaving Paris behind.”

And after Gabriel realized how much he wants to be with Emily in the season 4 finale, it looks like season 5 will feature even more of the show's signature relationship drama. "I think [Gabriel] realized that he wasn’t even aware of the fact that [Emily] left and how disconnected they’d become," Star continues. "He’s met the guy; he realizes the circumstances under which they met, and I think he just didn’t understand how fast things had moved between them."

But as much as we love to see Emily and Gabriel together, Lily Collins is excited to explore a Emily and Marcello. “Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” she tells TUDUM. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”

Where is Emily in Paris season 5 filming?

Netflix

Emily in Paris season 5 will pick up the end of the season 4 storyline, which means we'll see them in both Rome and Paris this year!

Is there a season 5 for Emily in Paris?

Stéphanie Branchu/Netflix

Yes, Emily in Paris season 5 is coming to Netflix. "We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!" creator Darren Star tells TUDUM.

The renewal comes as no surprise considering season 4 held Netflix Global Top 10's top spot and received almost 20 million views in four days.

This summer, let your style superpower be nothing other than a cool pair of sneakers. Seriously – though this concept sounds fairly simple, it’s all you need to complete your most confidence-inspiring looks. This reigns especially true if you’re stepping into one (or a few) of these 5 iconic summer sneaker trends. Summer 2025’s sneaks are undeniably drenched in retro vibes, but many of the hottest silhouettes still range from classic to more-experimental. This means there’s a pair out there for any kind of personal style!

From playful pastel hues to ballet sneakers that’ll make you want to ditch your go-to sandals, these are the summer sneaker trends every shoe lover will be wearing in 2025.

1. Oh-So Retro Runners

Vans

Vans Super Lowpro Shoe

Retro, running-inspired sneakers don't have to stop at the expected Sambas – there are tons of sporty styles that go beyond what everyone's wearing nowadays.

Take the Vans Super Lowpro sneakers for instance: they've got a similar streamlined low profile, a lightweight feel, plus that signature side stripe for added flair. They're also ideal for summertime's warmer temps since they wear oh-so comfortably.

Alohas

Alohas Tb.69 Rife Sheen Taupe Vegan Sneakers

Undeniably athletic (thanks to the cleat-esque rubber soles), this pair of Alohas sneakers is another fave for us when it comes to retro runners. The satin-y material definitely elevates them to be more fashion-forward than solely practical, which can be helpful if you want a summer sneaker to rock across both casual for more-formal 'fits.

2. Smooth, Sleek Suede Sneakers

Anthropologie

Puma Speedcat OG Sneakers

It feels like almost every fashion "it" girl has been spotted in Puma Speedcats this year. They obviously embrace the ever-trendy sporty style, but their suede construction makes them perfect for dressing up with slacks, maxi skirts, or mini dresses.

Larroudé

Larroudé Stella Sneakers

To take this summer sneaker trend a step further, go bold with a fun color! This pair's contrasting laces also add to their eye-catching effect.

3. Huge On Pastel Hues

Merrell

Merrell Moab 3

Pastels aren't just for springtime. This year, they'll be worn well into the summer for a subtle wash of color! Any shades, from greens and blues to purples and pinks, evoke a sense of calm and optimism with every wear, which is never a bad idea for whatever look you're trying to pull.

Since the gorpcore aesthetic shows no signs of slowing down, we're hooked on these hiking shoes from Merrell for the upcoming season.

Veja

Veja Volley Suede Sneakers

While most of the sporty sneaks on the market right now draw inspiration from the soccer field, these purple cuties spawn from the volleyball court. They're quite simple in shape, so the pastel purple hue is where they really shine, especially to channel that lively summertime energy!

4. Sporty Ballet Sneakers

Zara

Zara Patent Double Strap Ballet Flats

Ballet sneakers are essentially a hybrid between ballet flats and sneakers. We love this sneaker trend because it's yet another direct display of the how the sports world is influencing fashion right now – we can't get enough!

This shiny red pair from Zara exudes sporty vibes not only from the classic ballet flat silhouette, but from the playful seaming around the shoe.

Anthropologie

Jeffrey Campbell Regimen Ballet Sneakers

With an even more apparent ballet-inspired design (hello, laces!), these sneaks work wonderfully with feminine-leaning 'fits – think frilly white mini dresses for style contrast or basic black mini skirts paired with easy tees.

5. Shiny Silver Sneaks

Gola

Gola Classics Torpedo Glimmer Sneakers

Metallic silver sneakers are the way to go if you wish your shoe game to be nothing but attention-grabbing. Fitted with a reflective effect, these Gola sneakers are easy yet oh-so fun to incorporate into summer outfits, especially if your ensemble's more color-forward.

Adidas

Adidas Taekwondo Shoes

These sliver Taekwondo-inspired babies boast a cracked leather material for added visual interest, if the smoother feel isn't quite your vibe. Plus, you reap the benefits of street cred when you wear 'em, since they've got the signature Adidas side stripes! We also highly adore the laceless design of these, which makes getting ready in those hotter summer temps easy-peasy.

MAJOR The Last of Us season 2 spoilers ahead!

If you thought The Last of Us season 2 couldn't get more dramatic than its premiere, then you'd be wrong. Season 2 primes us for some emotional drama by showing just how much Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Joel (Pedro Pascal) are at odds, and throwing Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), who's seeking revenge on Joel for her own father's murder, into the mix shatters everything.

The Last of Us season 2, episode 2, "Through The Valley" is already being heralded by social media users as one of the best episodes in TV history. But it's definitely memorable for one specific reason: the episode killed off Joel, played by Pedro Pascal.

Let's talk about what the heck just happened with Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) in The Last of Us season 2.

Does Joel die in episode 2?

Liane Hentscher/HBO

Joel Miller (played by Pedro Pascal in the hit HBO show) dies in The Last of Us season 2, episode 2. "People are going to be upset. That's sometimes how good drama goes," executive producer Craig Mazin tellsUSA Today. "This was something that was always meant to happen. So much of the first season was, in a weird way, leading to this moment. And it's upsetting."

The horrifying moment comes after a blizzard — and some infected — put Abby, Joel, and Dina (Isabela Merced) on a collision course. After they rescue her from the aforementioned infected, Abby brings the two Jackson residents back to the lodge in the mountains where her group is hiding. Meanwhile Jackson, dealing with its own infected attack, burns in the distance.

Joel's anxious to return to town, but he's got bigger problems: Abby recognizes him as the man who killed her father (and wiped out the Firefly hospital) and, after putting Dina to sleep, Abby takes out five years' worth of anger and devastation on him with a golf club. Yeah. I can't believe it either.

But even more horrifying is when Ellie finds the lodge and bursts into the room. When she begs Joel to get up, there's a moment when you can see a beaten Joel start to lift himself up from the ground before Abby uses the now-broken golf club to kill him. I hope Ellie holds onto this moment and knows Joel was willing and able to do whatever it took to keep her safe!! I will scream about them forever!!

As Abby's group leaves, Ellie swears she'll kill them, and "you can't help but believe it is absolutely true," Craig says. There's a truly devastating shot of Ellie lying over Joel's body in the empty room that parallels her nursing him back to health at the end of season 1, episode 7 and I don't know if I'll ever get over it.

Why was Joel killed off?

In addition to being literal retribution for the death of Abby's father, Joel's death is a catalyst for Ellie's journey throughout the rest of the season as she grapples with revenge, grief, and anger. "Loss is kind of how this story functions, so this was largely preordained," Craig continues.

And yes, Pedro was aware of this devastating scene when he signed up for the life-changing role. "When I talked to Pedro the first time, I said, 'This is how this will go,'" Craig says. "I wanted him to know that we're not going to do this for seven seasons with you in that spot. We're going to do a season, and if it goes well and there's a second season, this will happen."

What happens to Ellie after Joel dies?

Liane Hentscher/HBO

The trailer for the rest of The Last of Us season 2 shows that Ellie and Dina aren't giving up until they enact their own revenge on Abby and her group. The two women are headed for Seattle and they're up against infected, the militia, and everything else this post-apocalyptic world has to throw at them.

But even though Joel's gone for good, Pedro isn't. We're in for plenty of flashbacks that fill in those five years between seasons 1 and 2!

Tune into new episodes of The Last of Us season 2 on HBO and Max Sundays at 9 PM ET to see what happens next.

The story's not over yet! Here's the last news on The Last Of Us Season 3.

There's nothing like a good rom-com, and unfortunately there's also nothing like a bad rom-com. With dull scripts and (at times) even duller characters, the romance movie market has been flailing for me in recent years. I'm really hoping movies like Anyone But You, Set It Up, and Materialists revive the era of the rom-com (recession core!!!) but I still stand by the fact the 1990s and early 2000s is the best rom-com era of all time. Here are 8 movies to prove it.

Keep reading for the 8 best '90s rom-coms that put the rest to shame.

1. Notting Hill (1999)

Universal Pictures

Notting Hill follows famous American actress Anna (Julia Roberts) who stumbles into Will's (Hugh Grant) Notting Hill bookstore...and his life. But Anna's fame (and the paparazzi) make everything more complicated.

Notting Hill stars Hugh Grant, Julia Roberts, Rhys Ifans, and James Dreyfus.

2. While You Were Sleeping (1995)

Hollywood Pictures

This '90s rom-com follows Sandra Bullock's character Lucy, who works as a Chicago Transit Authority ticket booth operator. And her life gets more exciting than she could have predicted when she rescues her longtime crush from an oncoming train...and his family believes they're engaged.

While You Were Sleeping stars Sandra Bullock, Bill Pullman, Peter Gallagher, Peter Boyle, Glynis Johns, and Jack Warden.

3. You've Got Mail (1998)

Warner Bros. Pictures

When Harry Met Sally might be Meg Ryan's most iconic movie, but You've Got Mail is arguably the most romantic. The movie follows two rival bookstore owners (Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks) who don't realize they've been falling for each other over email.

You've Got Mail stars Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks.

4. Sleepless In Seattle (1993)

TriStar Pictures

Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan also starred together in Sleepless In Seattle, in which widower Sam's (Tom Hanks) son calls into a radio show to find Sam a partner — and Annie (Meg Ryan) decides to find him IRL.

Sleepless in Seattle stars Meg Ryan, Tom Hanks, and Bill Pullman.

5. Much Ado About Nothing (1993)

Renaissance Films

Yes, this '90s rom-com is actually a Shakespearean tale. Much Ado About Nothing follows Hero and Claudio who decide to set the very-single and very argumentative Benedick and Beatrice up with each other. Fun fact, this loosely inspired Anyone But You!

Much Ado About Nothing stars Emma Thompson, Kenneth Branagh, Michael Keaton, Robert Sean Leonard, Keanu Reeves, Emma Thompson, Denzel Washington, and Kate Beckinsale.

6. Shakespeare In Love (1998)

Universal Pictures/Miramax

And I can't talk about Shakespeare adaptations without mentioning Shakespeare In Love! The movie follows the one and only William Shakespeare (Joseph Fiennes), who totally runs out of money and inspiration...until he meets Viola De Lesseps (Gwyneth Paltrow).

Shakespeare In Love stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Joseph Fiennes, Geoffrey Rush, Colin Firth, Ben Affleck, Judi Dench, Simon Callow, Jim Carter, Martin Clunes, Antony Sher, and Imelda Staunton.

7. Pretty Woman (1990)

Touchstone Pictures

Pretty Woman is the perfect mix of '80s and '90s, and the fact that Julia Roberts stars as the titular pretty woman makes this movie a must-watch. Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts) is a Hollywood escort who's hired by wealthy Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) to accompany him over the course of a week. And, of course, their business deal quickly turns into something more.

Pretty Woman stars Julia Roberts, Richard Gere, Jason Alexander, and Héctor Elizondo.

8. Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994)

Rank Film Distributors

This '90s rom-com follows bachelor Charles (Hugh Grant), who — over the course of four weddings and a single funeral — realizes he's fallen in love with Carrie (Andie MacDowell).

Four Weddings and a Funeral stars Hugh Grant, Andie MacDowell, Kristin Scott Thomas, Simon Callow, James Fleet, John Hannah, Charlotte Coleman, David Bower, Corin Redgrave, and Rowan Atkinson.
